That's what I used to do. When I first moved to Lansing, the whole time I was pregnant (up until 8 months) and then until Tyler was about 2 years old. I only worked about 20 hours a week and had FULL insurance coverage for both of us for free. I barely paid a dime for my pregnancy and received short term disability (my full pay) when I was off at the end of my pregnancy and for 3 months after I had him. It was an awesome job! I worked at the airport marshalling in the airplanes, unloading and loading packages. I loved it! It was fun and great exercise. I worked 3am-7am Tues - Sat. I had a roommate at the time, so I just left Tyler sleeping and he always got up at 7am, so my roommate got up with him until I got home and then she'd go back to bed or get ready for work.

What a fun job !!

:scared1: :scared1: :scared1: Well maybe you take the day off :rolleyes1

Thats what we did the second year we took just Sammi, and we spent the day at DL with her. By the end of that day, she was one tired little girl. I don't think Bubba has enough vacation time built up and I'm taking the next friday off, cause I have out of town visitors coming to my house.:rolleyes1

I'm here!!! You were all norty and posted far too much and it has taken me an age to scan through! Sorry if I missed anything important.:grouphug:

How did we find such a group of caring people? I would never tell my family some of the things I tell you guys.

This group is very very special.

I don't know how it came that we lucked out with this group, but I am so THANKFUL that it worked out this way :grouphug:

I know that there will be atleast 1 person who will understand where I'm coming from & that even those who don't--I will get empathy & no judgement.
(like w/ my depression....my father doesn't get it....he used to ask me why I couldn't "snap out of it")

I think much is generational there Monica with your dad's reaction to depression. Thankfully we are all much more informed now.

Hi All.....just checking in.....I'm still reading from page 29.......I'll catch up soon......just wanted to say hi!

Me and John are in Santee, South Carolina. John slept until 12:30am last night and then we left at 1am. We drove until noon today and took a hotel room. We just had breakfast and now we're going to sleep for a while. I'm elevating my legs!!!! Then a shower and shave and we'll hit the road again.

John got a $250 speeding ticket for going 15 mph over the limit. Wow......they don't mess around in South Carolina. He's going to set the cruise control when we start up again to keep him honest.

The weather is not nice enough to put the roof down on the car. There's a coastal storm hitting the Carolinas and Virginia Beach. Tomorrow will be nicer I hope.

Hi Deb. Glad the journey is going well but:scared1: about the ticket.

I'm back.....couldn't sleep.....John is snoring.....I know he's exhausted. I slept a lot in the car so I'm good.

I am relaxing and elevating my legs so I'll be in good shape to play when I get there tomorrow. Can't wait to see you on Saturday. I'll give you a call Friday after work. What time would be good for you? 6-7 pm?

You're ready to go, in fact by now you should be playing!!!

Hi Jacks, I didn't like their oatmeal either. Don't you feel lighter after eating this food for almost a week now? I know I do when I'm on it. I never get too full. I always get hungry at meal times. I feel very balanced. I think it's the way you're supposed to feel after every meal when you eat properly.

I lost 3lbs this past week. It's slow, but it's going in the right direction. Of course, now I'm on vaca so I'm off dieting again. I had french fries today. I wanted them for weeks already. I waited until now and it was worth it.

Jackie, I figure that if you have to be on a diet, then BistroMD is a good one to do. It's easy and it tastes good. You'll see good results when you weigh yourself next time and it will all be worthwhile.

:thumbsup2 on the weight loss Deb.

I'm glad Tyler's dad brought him, Tyler had a great time, I had fun, but it was NOT fun having his dad there. He kept fidgeting, and saying things like, "How long is this thing gonna last?" and "When is this supposed to be done?" and "I can't do this every week if we'll have to be here so long." and "We've got things we need to do, we still need to get his prescription and get his bath and get him to bed." and "Why do I have to fill out these papers? Why do they want all my information? I don't want to get roped into doing stuff I don't want to do. Nobody better call me and pester me to volunteer".
:headache:

I told him things are still in the organizational process, trying to get every position assigned, so this meeting will be longer. I assured him that the weekly meetings are only 6:30-7:30 because it will only be the Tigers (there are 4 so far) compared to tonight which was the whole pack (still only about 15 kids). I although he might get a phone call now and then asking for his help, but he can always say no. I told him he doesn't even really have to fill anything out if it bothers him.

He grumbled about having to sell popcorn and told me nobody likes it when people ask them to buy things, etc. Tyler looked at me worried, and I assuredly whispered to Tyler not to worry, that we'll keep going on streets in our neighborhood. He told me his dad wouldn't let him last night, but I told him not to worry, we'll do it. :sad2: When I dropped Tyler off last night, he changed into the scout uniform before I even left and he was telling his dad they need to go through the neighborhood and sell popcorn. He was SOOOOO excited, but his dad wouldn't do it. He let him go to ONE neighbor's house.

You should have seen the shock on his dad's face when I told him Tyler's sold $220 so far with me. NOBODY else in the pack has started selling yet. :sad2: So we're going to keep going!

That is sad about Tyler's dad not doing his bit. It will be he who misses out from his laziness there. Look what a fabulous mom you are.

I got a really sweet card in the mail today with a note written inside from the director of the children's programs at church. She says I've been on her mind and heart this week and wanted me to know she sees my struggle and is praying for me and that she hopes this week is going better for Tyler. That was totally unexpected and so nice! I should call her tomorrow.

Oh that is so nice Holly. Remember that when you feel down again.

Ok... Whoever had EARS... not Mickeys... but Mom's... in the What's wrong with Barbara pool... please come and try and claim your prize... :lmao:

It's official... she's a ditzy woman with an inner ear problem...

ALL of the tests came out good... (and she's talking cruising in '10... Marilyn...I'll tell her about Sept and ask her if it's ok with her to think about it... :rotfl: )

The MRI, MRA, Dopler showed all clear. Not bad for an old dame!!! (I told the Dr. it's because she can usually answer all the Double Jeopardy questions right...)

She just has to work on her cholesterol and her blood pressure was a little high... Thank God she didn't have the tests done right after eating all of those :mickeybar

Of course after all the tests, she feels like she should glow...:upsidedow

Woohoo, so very pleased with that news.:yay:

OK so again I'm not a bragger but since everyone else does it

Oh, thanks Gaylean. Great to see them and you must be so proud - rightly so.

Gaylean, you asked about the economy.

Yes, the cost of living has increased substantially. Our gasoline bill alone is up about $400+ per month. Food has increased in many categories at about 30% in the past year. Bread has doubled. Our insurance went up nearly $1000 for the year (for a $2400 deductible that covers nothing, no meds), electricity, gas, water, sewer, trash went up a substantial amount. Many credit cards are lowering their limits by more than 50% Mostly AmEX across the nation, but increasing their APR. This means that our ratios are changing the FICO scores which affect the APR we get per person, per card. The value of our homes has lowered so much that anyone who had a second on their house has gone into forclosure because they can't afford their payments esp. when the variable interest increased. So, their house payments went up so high that they could no longer make them. With all of the forclosures (there are currently 10 million homes in foreclosure and an additional huge percent are 4+ months in default) which means that each state is losing tax money making the economy crumble. Schools and companies who get government contracts are losing their funding because they depend on the tax revenue. A lot of what is going on right now is because the banks and financial firms borrowed so much against the real estate boom and then spent way too much money. OK, getting tired. I get dizzy thinking about it. We are moving into an immediate cash economy where we will be using cash for everything and credit cards will not be a part of world for a while. Hope that helps explain it a bit. :scared1: :scared1:

That is a great summary of a bad situation Kelly. It seems that life is never going to be the same again.

You mean like this

Oh now you have all the young women broody again!!! Sooooo cute.:cutie:

Would Tyler's Dad be more motivated if he knew about the college money Nan wrote about?

AND

Keep a copy of the list of who you sell to so next year you can start with the same folks. ::yes::

If you mean trip then it is going very well. If you mean trio, I haven't found the other guy yet!!!

Had a leisurely breakfast on the balcony, then went for a short walk. I hurt my lower leg walking down a steep hill on Wednesday and it is still hurting when I walk!!! I'm trying to wear it off!!! We bought supplies, then had lunch, read a while and had a siesta. Then we went for a swim before coming here. Going to have a simple meal tonight and watch a DVD.

We went to the buffet meal here last night and it was very nice.

OK so I'm a ding dong. I'll just start calling you Bubba :lmao:
Well, I wanted to call you a ding dong, but didn't want to steal Bubba's line! :rotfl:

Bye, I'm headed out for lunch.

Oh...by the way, I just had a meeting with one of the partners and it's official, I can stay. No pay raise until my yearly review the end of March, but that's fine with me! I'm just relieved they didn't get mad at me being so wishy washy.

Great news Holly. I can't think they would get mad as they must understand. They obviously really appreciate you and that means a lot!!

that sounds so peaceful :cloud9:

OH CRAP. The office manager just told me she wants me to take advantage of my down time today to clean out my desk and have the new girl start moving her stuff over.

Doesn't necessarily mean anything....think of who is saying this.

With this keyboard I keep typing the odd Spanish sign and wrong letters!
