Good Morning All Sentient Life Forms (and Nan)

Yep, today is booking day. I expect to hear from my travel agent sometime today regarding the eastbound cruise.

You know, I checked out airfares and I did not think that the fares were that bad.

Of course that might be fares to Chicago. Aerlingus had the best one-way fares and I did not think they were punitive. Not half of a round trip fare, but not higher than a round trip either.

I do find all this planning a bit disconcerting. As my mother used to say, "Don't plan your life away." I have to sort of agree with her. What's wrong with the here and now?

We are in the middle of Indian Summer. It was over 80 on Sunday and up in the 70's yesterday. The temperature is starting to drop. Today it will be in the upper 60's and by Friday, it will be in the 40's.

Sitting here, watching Mickey swim. :rolleyes1

No holiday cruises on the site yet. :confused3

Currently looking at WB Cat 10 (secret porthole???) It's hard to shop around on a slow site. A cat 10 for 2, no transfer/no insurance $2705, that's less than $100 per person, per night....a very good deal!

.

Ok we are booked on the EB TA cruise - took a category 10 - room 7007 (it would not let me pick my own room :( )

Was pleased with the price - $4500 with transfers but no airfare for 2 adults, 2 children (15 and 12)

Now to wait till May to start trying to book airfares :(

Krisann

Lisa (Calmom) - sorry to hear about the miscarriages. that is always so sad.

I'm afraid not. I think Bubba and V and Ken and Shannon have 1/2 convinced me to go. We'll see :rolleyes1

after a crazy weekend, I jumped back in and this is the first post I saw - sounds like a great trip to Alaska ! ::yes::

Sounds like the start of a great group.................So who whats to go to alaska with us?????????

Wow!! When is this incredible Alaskian cruise??

i'm in just tell me when and where!

Marilyn

Good Morning

Oh I am nervous and feel guilty.

You see Ian's parent came over last Sunday and blah blah to us about the money as market is really bad, dollar money is not good, blah blah. Ian and I never told them that we booked for Oct 09 then change to Baltic.:sad2:

They always like that, same with Tenerfie, they nag nag us.

We keep it quiet and we know what they like!!

Anyway, I go upstair and start looking at my clothes for holiday, won't be long.

I bought sun creams yesterday, what a price!! (buy one, get one free). I told Ian I wish I never threw sun creams away at Florida and I bought one called ICE COOL for after sun. I think it was best one. Throw it away because weight for the luggage. But at Stanford, they never weight our luggages. Cannot win!!

Scottishwee35:surfweb:

Deborah - have a great trip and enjoy yourself! Don't feel guilty, its your money, your trip to plan!

Good morning Deborah. I know how you feel about keeping plans quiet.:lmao:

Well, today is booking day. I'm not worried cruises will sell out like the PC ones did, just worried about the costs as that will be the deciding factor. There are so many lovely folk on the Baltic cruise so far that I really want to cruise with them. Looks like the group could be a bit like this one and a lot of fun.

However, I also want to do the WB TA.:scared: :scared: :scared:

As I said to someone elsewhere yesterday.

So much left to do and so little time to do it!!

:lmao: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :lmao:

Trying to book online for the WB TA, but just keep seeing Mickey swimming. Haven't even got to the pricing yet :scared1: I didn't bother getting up at 5am to be first on, figured it was better to sleep until 6am since I'll be up until midnight tonight because its election day! Ken will finally be able to come home again after all his campaign work :cool1: :cool1:

From what I have seen the TA is reasonably priced, so hopefully when things settle down you should be able to book.

Seems you can't yet book the Baltics or the Christmas Cruise. If DCL were going to stagger the booking they could have mentioned it than the website/phones might have been a little less frantic.

Hi Marilyn!

The reservation website is not working! I'm going to have to give up and try at lunchtime. I was supposed to be booking ours and Ken's Aunt's.

Disney does a great job and building up excitement and getting everybody to jump through hoops! It's awful they didn't tell people that some cruises can't be booked yet!

Oh well, I'm still not sure we'll be able to actually afford the whole WB TA trip, but I'd still like to book it and keep our options open. Oh well, maybe in a couple hours it will slow down.

Off to get ready for work now.

I would LOVE a cruise to Alaska.

And we would love to cruise to Alaska with you and Sukie.

Ok I just got to work and priced the 10 Dec cruise....with no air for 2 people in a cat 11..................$7195.02 Ok thats just absured. What are the DCL people thinking.

I just looked at the EB TA and it was 3800.00 without air and 6500.00 with air and ground travel and a hotel the night before. That seems low for the entire package. Then I looked at the WB TA and it was 3850.00 without air and over 10,000.00 with air. I guess the air is more expensive in September :confused3

Hi all. Been a fairly stressful day and I haven't even been booking myself!!:lmao:

However, I hate waiting for DU to email. I also suspect it will be a GTY, just because it has been so hectic for them I could have booked my own room too. Ah well, we will see.

Me too Marilyn, I'm right there with you. At least we know prices for the cruises we want and now DU will give us a little bit better price. We should hear from them by tomorrow. I know they are extremely busy on our behalf.

I am so NOT a patient person!!!

That's what happened to me last week when I wrote to Marla/DU to request a quote. I didn't hear back from her the same day and I sent her another email saying how impatient I was. She must really love me! NOT!

She wrote back the next day and told me that I will have to wait until today to get the price. She told me at that time, it was going to take a while. Just be patient and know that she's working on it. Another words.....don't bug her! I couldn't help myself last week, but I'm doing good today. I was impatient about the prices not knowing. I'm much better since I know I'm going on the cruise that I'm going to love.

It's ok Mon, just take deep breaths and keep checking your email and about six different threads all day long like I am.:lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Talking to John last night about cancelling the B2B Western and only doing the Tortola. I told him that I really, really, really, really wanted to do the Christmas cruise. He told me that he only really, really wants to do the B2B both cruises. Then he said do what you have to do but just to keep it in mind.

I kept both cruises on the B2B and I'm booking the Christmas cruise too. We can do both and make it happen.

Great way for me and DH to make decisions huh? My 4 really's to his 2. Then we try to compromise and come to a decision. This time we both get what we want. Wooo Hoooo!

I had an email from our travel agent.

We are booked on the eastbound transatlantic, in a cat 11, Cabin 7009. The cost for both of us is $2,321 without the insurance and transfers.

I don't think that is too bad for a 14-night.

Not that airfares won't go up, for for April 2009, the one way fare from Dublin to Chicago is $306 USD, it is about $77 USD from Barcelona to Dublin.

Sounds like you got the first tier pricing too. We booked three cat 10 cabins on Deck 10- so we'll be right there with you!! We also booked with transfers but without airfare.

Deb- I hope you can make all of your cruises happen! We always find a way, right?

Yay!! We booked this morning too- category 10 cabins on deck 7. Sounds like deck 7 is the place to be! We checked into airfare, and it looked like it was running about $450 per person from Barcelona to NYC- so not TOO bad. I'm so happy with the pricing on the cruise that I don't mind having to spend a little more on the airfare.

So we're all booked for the EB TA, and SO excited. DH took care of the booking since I had to be in court this morning, and I was the only attorney walking around with a goofy smile on her face all morning. It will be all of our first times in Europe (except for DH who has been to France), and I feel like this cruise is going to be a dream come true- going across the Atlantic Ocean and seeing Europe, even though it's just a few days of ports. I'm sure I'll be scrambling now to see what I'd like to do in each port, even though we have SO much time before the excursions will even be announced. Even Olivia was chatting about the "Mickey Boat" all morning.

late morning here, just picked up the phone. I've got a 20 minute wait on the CC phone line. I think I have to talk to them as I need to move my exsiting ressie. we'll see. I'm hoping for a cat 11 like Ian, wonder how different the price will be???

perhaps we (who ever wants to cruise with me) will meet you in Chicago and we can fly over together. That would be fun fun fun

Actually, I don't think the EB repo is booking nearly as fast as the PC cruises did last year. DH had his pick of the deck seven cat 10s this morning. I hope you get in on the 1st tier pricing too!!
