It really hit me yesterday when I saw the pics of the wedding cause I was supposed to be there and things just fell apart on my and my business project may come through next week, which is one week too long for both the trip and my lake place...

Michael tells me not to worry...but he's not here right now either so hence...the teddy bear...

Just remember, things will look better in the morning. Look at the bright side: you didn't get stranded in TX in a major flood from the hurricane and you have the rest of us here to share the sadness of missing Ian & Sukie's wedding.

True... and I'd still like to roll up the newspaper and hit my sister upside the head for her lack of evacuation plans in case of the hurricane... I hate when she's right... but someday... probably after she has moved... they will get a hurricane in TX... she lived in CA for 6 years and never felt an earthquake... she'll get away without a hurricane... promise....

I love fall because of the smell of people burning leaves, but it also freaks me out ever since a house a couple houses away burned down 2 years ago. Every time I smell a fire, I wonder if it's a real fire. That was so scary to watch, especially since it spread to the house on each side of it, so it could easily have spread down a couple more houses to ours, considering it was the middle of the night when everybody was sleeping.

I mention this because I'm wondering whether the smell I'm smelling now is a real fire or somebody burning leaves. But since it's way too early for leaves to fall, that makes me wonder even more. I just walked outside to see if I can see any smoke anywhere, but none.

Here burning leaves and grass inside city limits is against the city by-laws. There's still a few that do it, but its not too common. I've never seen anybody burning leaves, sometimes people burn their lawns in the spring.

Lots of people have wood stoves for heat in winter, and if the weather is right, you can smell that smoke (yuck!)
