Meet the teachers and learn what they expect from you and your child. I'm the room parent so I organize the helpers in Ethan's class and this was a good chance to sucker them into it ;) . I was Brooke's last year but for some reason there is too many people willing to help in kinder and not enough in the upper grades. I think parents start slacking :lmao:
I see. We don't have that here. The week before school there's open house where you can go find your classroom and meet the teacher, but that's it. We don't have room parents either. Interesting idea.

I'm craving some caffeine but am too tired to run up to the store for some pop. I guess I can wait until morning and raid the pop fridge at work. :thumbsup2

I can't believe you don't have room parents. Who talks to the parents and organizes the parties and the volunteers?

Don't you believe in pixie dust anymore?

I do believe!!!!! pixiedust: pixiedust: pixiedust: pixiedust: pixiedust:

NO...you simply must do something about that, OK? Got any connections? I'll put my mom to work on it...she usually 'takes care of' vacation weather for us.

Gotta head out soon and get my pedicure......

Tell her she done good for us in May... can she work on no hurricanes for next Aug and Sept????

We'd love it! :goodvibes

Ok.... Holly's first on the list... :goodvibes (after Nan... who is after Ian and Sukie...)

We have 2 room parents per classroom plus a second teacher and assistant. Sounds crowded! But there's only 15 kids.

Hey has anyone heard from Angie and Dennis lately???? :confused3 :confused3 :confused3

I miss them!!!

The teacher sends home a signup sheet for parties and when you put your name on the sheet, you designate whether you can come in to help or just send supplies and/or goodies and the teacher calls everybody on the list to tell them what she needs. At least that's how his teacher did it last year. This teacher says she does the same (she had a paper that said that in the packet of information that came home the first day).

Kelly, I'm reading "Raising Cain: Protecting the Emotional Life of Boys", so thanks for suggesting it! :thumbsup2 I just read a part that's really encouraging. It talks about how since many boys are behind girls in the early years that "boys are more likely to be miscategorized as learning disabled in the early grades." That's very reassuring because maybe Tyler really doesn't have a learning disability. He might very well catch up at some point. two years ago, when he was 4, and I mentioned to his pediatrician how a couple of the preschool teachers questioned whether he had some sort of learning disability because he just wasn't doing the things the other kids were doing, the pediatrician (who knew about our frequent fire stations visits) asked Tyler a ton of questions about the trucks and the equipment, etc. She looked at me and said, "He's able to learn things just fine. Just because he might not learn as well the traditional way, sitting at a desk with paper and pencil, doesn't mean he's learning disabled, just that he might learn differently, but just as well." I think she was right on the money! :thumbsup2

I just read on Bobby Banana's thread that new pictures will be posted soon from his adventures on the EB PC repo! I can't wait to tell Tyler!

I would say you were right except she goes to bed at 7:30 and wakes up at 7:00 and since she started school she has been sleeping about 2 hours during the day and that doesn't count what she is doing at school :lmao: :lmao:

Hey Lisa! How've you been? What have you been up to? I'm sure you're missing Daniel already.

I think 20 people will be attending the wedding and/or party afterwards, but I think most of them are the ones already in CA. The rest of us have to patiently wait for pictures and stories.
