Well my family got more bad new today. They don't think my step-dad will be able to walk anymore. He had Parkinson's. It is really sad and he is upset. My mom was going to cancel their cruise but he said he wanted to go as this may be his last chance. My mom is beginning to freak out that I am not going with them and begging me to go but I don't have the $$$. It is really sad but I am redoing their excursions but don't think he'll be able to get off at Grand Caymen. This was supposed to be a fun vacation but my mom will be stressed and that will stree my sister and that will make my step-dad feel bad. He thinks he can walk and won't admit he can't and tries and them falls. I wish I could go so I could tell them what to do and where to go and keep the peace.

Jill...

Let them know that the cruise is also a very relaxing time and to enjoy the ship as well... Make sure they or you call DCL and get every bit of help they will need - you know they are good with things like that. I'm sure that it is just the newness of it all also that has them in a state of shock. Try to make it as easy as you can on them... get them the help you can and assure them that they will be fine. Also... does he need one of the handicap rooms? I know they have showers and not tubs...

Good luck with everything...

OH and how is school going?

Tell Matt Hi!

Greetings from Disneyland.

This is just a quickie, because it's 9:00 PM and with the time change I'm about to pass out (remember I usually go to bed around 9:30 PM back home).

The travel went very smoothly.

We got to the HoJo (which is great value for the money) at about 2:30 PM and were in Disneyland by 3:30 PM.

Sukie insisted we sit in separate seats on the Matterhorn Bobsleds because we aren't married yet.

We ended up not eating at the Blue Bayou. The only vegetarian dish they had was a grilled portobello mushroom and Sukie doesn't do funghi.

I apologize for not saying more or commenting. So many of you are going through so much, please accept our best wishes and hope for bright outcomes.

OK, and now, to bed, before I pass out.

Sure... whiplash a post and leave!!! :goodvibes :goodvibes :goodvibes

Have fun!!! Left you a VM...

Good luck tomorrow!!!! :grouphug: :grouphug: :grouphug: :grouphug: :grouphug:

Are you in the papers lots of times? :confused3
Then, you are more famous than I thought! :thumbsup2

Jan :goodvibes

Not really. Jon's aunt is the travel editor for the LA times. She has no children so when she wants a story about kids we tag along on the paper's dime :goodvibes

Ok... I'm not trying to offend anyone or get political...

But if you close your eyes... doesn't Sarah Palin sound like the Barbie from Toy Story???

I'm waiting for her to wave and say

Buh - Bye... Buh - Bye... :wave2: :wave2:

I don't know about that but I can say other things that some people may not appreciate ;) Leave it to me.

Good evening everybody. Last week I did a job interview that I was surprised to get because I didn't meet the qualifications. The interview was okay and it was an experience. The lady said she hoped to let people know last Friday if they were going to the next level of interview, and I asked if she'd let me know either way. She said definitely. Well, now its Wed night and I still haven't heard anything (even after I phoned and left a message this morning), but the ad was back in Saturday's paper, so I think I did not get the job, which is fine, but its rude not to phone and let me know after she said she would. I'm irritated.

Vanessa - great pics - love the Gator outfits :thumbsup2

Michelle - that pic of you at 2 is adorable. Too bad about the lake properties, with the market in the US going the way it is, there might be more coming available :goodvibes

Holly - I had never heard of Stone Cold Creamery before you started talking about it. Now if I see one, I'll have to try it. Good luck with Tyler! Starting a new school routine is always hard. Hopefully Day 2, 3, etc go better. Good luck getting your holiday pay sorted out.

Gaylean - what a crappy week you've had :sad2: Give yourself credit for the possible new job. They've seen you dealing with kids and think you'll be good in the position with the special needs kids. Trust their judgement. :thumbsup2 You won't mess the kids up, you'll be fantastic!:goodvibes

I can't believe you don't have room parents. Who talks to the parents and organizes the parties and the volunteers?

We have 2 room parents per classroom plus a second teacher and assistant. Sounds crowded! But there's only 15 kids.

no room parents here; 22 kids to a class and 1 teacher. They ask parents to help out with field trips, and will send a note home when there's going to be a party so parents can choose to send a treat or not.

:grouphug: what a stressful situation. Hang in there!

Deborah - sorry to hear about your friend. :grouphug:

Marilyn/Monica/Cherie - Nothing specific to say, but didn't want to leave you out :)

And last but definitely not least:
Ian & Sukie - Enjoy your wedding! Wish we could be there. Looking forward to seeing pics!

The $900 is what it would have been for the newer car (without the accident). With my old car(2005 Accord) it was $750!

It wasn't unusual for first graders to fall asleep at school at the beginning of the year. Heck, I almost fell asleep at the beginning of the year! It was so hot, and it takes a lot of energy to be attentive for 6 hrs. when you're not used to it!

 SURE you are!

You need new car insurance. I thought people went there to get cheaper insurance!

I know teachers do hard work but they don't have time to do the work we do. If they did it, they wouldn't have enough time for my kids!

You can't leave them out :sad1:

I know you will get a job soon. I think you are a super mom and I can't believe they don't think the same. Be more cocky in your interviews. Let them think they need you ;)

Is CA the only place with room parents? I guess I need to leave :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Thanks for the vote of confidence, but the longer I don't get a new job, the better the chances that we'll be able to afford a cruise in 2010 ;) I have a deadline of Jan 1, 2010 for finding a new job. That's the goal I've given myself, because that's when I go up to 5 weeks paid vacation a year, and it's going to be hard to leave that and go to a new job with only 2 weeks.

Holly - I was surprised when you said you'll only get 1 week vacation a year now; up here, its law that people get 2 weeks a year after they've worked for one year, and many companies give more. I think France is still better though.

:cool1: :cool1: I think I figured out how to post pictures!  This is one of my favourite pics of the girls 2nd trip to DL in 2005.

This is me at 1.5 or 2 with a bad haircut (actually I just had bad hair as a child). Surprisingly it took another 4 years before my mom gave up on trimming my bangs :lmao: she never could get them straight :lmao:

I am interested but I don't want to mess up these kids. They need more than me!!!

There is no way you would mess up these kids - you could only enhance their lives and learning experiences!!!

No...No... NO!!!!!

Planky will be VERY honored to be let back on the ship... :rolleyes1

(and he had nothing to do with knocking on your door and running... Tammy made him do it...;) )

:rotfl: TAMMY, coooeeee, you're getting blamed for something in your absence!!!

Gayleen,

What a saga! No wonder you have a backache! I got one just reading it, especially the part about trying to get your refund. Grrrrrrrr!!! Dealing with that stuff is exhausting!

Good luck with the job thing. Big decision for you!

Here's my mini-saga:

I got my car insurance renewal yesterday. Because of my accident my rates went from $900+/year to $2600+ a year!!! And they were supposedly giving me a break!
:scared1: :scared1: :scared1:

My agent said she was going to shop around for something better!

Sure you do, I don't want to be awake at midnight or later :)

You don't?:confused3 :)

Ok... I'm now officially depressed...

BOTH properties at the lake that I had my eye on are both gone...

Oh no Michelle. How did that happen?

Who knows if I will be good at it. I worked in finance when I had a real job :lmao: I'm sure they don't need a mortgage ;)

Hey, you have some very special gifts. People can tell.

My heart says to live on the Magic with all of me friends from the cruise.

:rotfl2:

Do what I do listen to an audio book while you dis... of course, you may mix up the stories a little. I'm listening to Twilight the teen vampire story and I'm not sure if Monica just was bitten or if my lead character is having migraines.:confused3 :confused3

Oh Jill, I'm so sorry. This is so hard for your family to go through. I wish I had some helpful words of wisdom, but all I have are hugs and prayers.

Sorry for the vent!

I forgot to say I hope everyone else is doing well.

Holly- Things will calm down with Tyler as the newness wears off. September is when my disability is at its worst too!

Deb- I hope your legs are feeling better.
Jill, never apologize! That's what we're all here for. It's the perfect place to vent and know you'll have support and people who will always listen.

And thanks for the good words for Tyler. It helps! :goodvibes

Wow, I never knew this! I'm going to share this with Tyler's dad too so he doesn't freak out. Especially since he doesn't get as much sleep at dad's house as he does here. Here he can sleep 12 hours if needed, but there he gets 9 or 10 hours because he has to get up at 5:30am. Uggghhh.....I can't even get up at 5:30!

But what a great Mommy to let him try everything! :thumbsup2

Chief Okemos Council looks like it is the one for your area.

Thanks Jan, you probably won't be surprised to hear I completely forgot all about it, so I just sent an email right now. :thumbsup2 I only hope meetings are on the days he's at my house so he can go.

Shannon, I also have never heard of an employer only giving one week of vacation. They're extreme tightwads.
