Oh Jackie... I missed you guys too... that's why every time it rained I hauled my butt up to the library where I bribed the wonderful book lady to let me throw off the little kid who was stuck in the mountains and going through internet withdrawal... (not to say I wasn't too!!! :rotfl: )

I was only allowed 1/2 an hour online but it took a full hour to drag mom out of the trashy smutty book aisle... :rolleyes1

Her words are below in blue:

Thanks for all the thoughts. here is my update...not sure if it is good or bad.....

vision is the same....completely gone in the L eye :(. Went to the neurologist this am. It is def MS, but they took 15 vials of blood just to make sure it wasn't something else and I get to have another MRI of my neck to make sure it isn't more advanced than they think. I had a perfect neurological exam except that one eye....so I have no other symptoms, which I guess is good. Oh and she wants me to start on 3-4x/week shots that will run me over 10K per year for the rest of my life! Not so sure about that one yet...we'll see, but Scott wants me to do them so that I have the best chance of full recovery. Then onto the ophthalmologist who said that my eye looks great I just can't see out of it which means that I have a good chance of restoring my vision, but it will most likely take between 1-4 months to come back. I am going to start myself on lots of other treatments that I know of so that I can speed that process up! This one eyed thing is totally annoying! :) I guess that about 90% of people who start like I do regain 100% of their sight back, so that is good news. And the fact that I have no other symptoms is good news. I may start on those shots and take them for a year or 2 while I get myself into better health via the herbs, nutrients and vitamins I know can help. I am going to still go to my 2 conventions, 1 this week (W-S) and 1 next week (T-S) so that I can be around colleagues and pick everyone's brains. Also, it will be somewhat relaxing, no kids, no patients and I can sleep as much as I want to and won't have to drive. That is the hardest thing...right now I am not comfortable enough to drive myself anywhere, so I need to be shuttled around.

I'm copying and sending her an email a day with all the DISers prayers and good thoughts. I think they are a bit of what the doctor would order.

Hi Kaylee,
I'll keep you in my prayers for a good outcome. It sounds promising about your eye. Take good care of yourself and keep us informed about how you're doing.
Love, Cheri

-drops in-

I've been busy with jaw surgery.. having jaw wied shut, and the such...

but i got the final video up from pub night!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=426oYJ_lHhE - Not Upon the SEA!

Great job on the video! It looks like your view was about as good as mine! I ended up filming the video screen they had set up in Rockin' Bar D because there were so many heads in my way!

I finished the afghan for my nephew who will be arriving in November. :yay: We know it will be a boy and his Dad's family go hunting so they are already buying him camoflage clothes. I made a camo afghan.

Jan ;)

This would be perfect for one of my little great nephews! His dad is an avid hunter and the baby got lots of camo things when he was born. Very cute!

morning all!!
Hope everyone is doing well. We went to Sanibel for the weekend...was fun until Samantha CALLED 911!! OMG! I guess that's what happens with 8 phones and inquisitive girls in a house....luckily the cop was very nice and sat and talked with her for about 30min!

I was mortified. She was def John's kid that day!

I finished the 6th book in the LB series, started my second mba class and gearing up for Samantha starting school on 8/18. We went shopping tonight and got SOAKED, I mean thouroughly wet.....she is excited.

I miss everyone, will try and check back in more often!

Okay, here is my bad news. I've parted ways with my current client. She is looking for top end forecasting and budgeting crap (which I can do but I hate) and I dragged my little hinnie and didn't get it done, and being that she is a woman and we can see right thru each other, she said let's part ways and remain friends. So I'm gainfully UNEMPLOYED. I've been struggling for the last five years or so with the fact that I make really good money doing what I do, but I HATE IT. Ive done this kind of work for 25 years and i just want a break and to do something that is worthwhile and meaningful. So after a bit of soul searching and crying on the phone with Paul I've decided that it's time for me to go back to school and finish up my degree that I abandoned when I was just 2 classes short of completing. I studied Political Science at San Jose State Univ. I've been dreading looking into what it will take now, as I bet my 2 classes have morphed into 10 or maybe even 20. But I've got to do something to find some kind of work that I enjoy instead of hating what I'm currently doing.

WOW, that was a datadump huh.

So, wish me luck in dealing with the admissions and records office at SJSU not a quest I'm looking forward too :headache:

Wow Nan, my hat's off to you for having the courage to go for your degree and make such a big change. Good luck!

Had a lovely dinner with Cheri last night and got to see her new wheels...very nice...can't wait till our roadtrip. (Cheri, notice how I'm not mentioning that I FORGOT we had planned to meet...I'd call it a senior moment, but I really blame WORK as I get so focused and forget what's going on in my 'real' life!) Gee....I wonder if there is somewhere I'm supposed to be right now......:scratchin

.

Dinner was fun! I wish everyone was close enough to get together with like that!

Have I mentioned that I didn't go to work today? Gotta keep my fingers crossed I don't get a big old sickness at the end of the year or I'm going to be in big trouble with no time off left.

.

Jackie, are you feeling better?

I have a bit of a dilemma, one of the guys who reports to me bought a house a few months ago.

He and his friends are planning a party this coming Saturday night....

Well Ian, everyone's already weighed in and you've made up your mind but I figured I'd still throw in my 2¢. I think it's nice that he likes you and wants to include you. It didn't occur to me that he might have ulterior motives until I read some of the other opinions, so maybe I'm naive.

what's up my cruising peeps?

Samamtha had her K assessment today....I took her to my office before hand just because....it was quite funny...everyone was oh she's going into second grade right? Ummmm no!

then poor Haley, my dad sent S a Disney back pack...now Haley wants a packpack (as she calls them)

anyway hope everyone is well, I am on a not sleeping binge,,,,,,,,,,,,,a bad thing.

So cute! A lot of the kids at my school called them "packpacks"--and they were a lot older than Haley!

I've been reading everything, but haven't felt up to posting lately. I'm in kind of an energy slump, maybe due to the accident--I've been feeling very very tired this week and it's been an on-the-go week as well. I'm still really sore in my chest...I guess it's going to take longer than I thought for that to go away.

However, today I went for a massage and I really feel better this evening. I go to a woman who does Shiatsu and she's excellent! I wish I could just stay home and chill tomorrow but I have 2 birthday parties I want to go to--one in Flagstaff at 1:00 (a 90 min. drive) for a great nephew's first birthday, then another at 6:00 for a great niece's 6th birthday (about a 45 min. drive), then another 45 min. drive home.

I love my car! I'm getting 40 mpg so far, both in town and highway. It'll be interesting to see what my millage is tomorrow.

It's been raining off and on all day and right now it's in the 60s--glorious! This is the time of year that I'm just DONE with summer and heat. It's not over by a long shot, but these rainy cool days make it a little more bearable.

Next week is going to be pretty quiet (at least so far). I'm doing a scuba refresher course next Wed. and Sat. and the following Wed. (the 20th) I'm going to FL (Key Largo) to dive for 3 days and then to Key West for a couple of days to play. I'm looking forward to being under water and if I get any good pictures I'll post them.

Woody, sounds like you're getting ready to travel somewhere--hope you have fun!

Marilyn, Michelle, Holly, Kathe, Lisa, Ian, Deborah (and anyone else I missed), I'm enjoying your posts and look forward to reading what's going on each day. Hopefully my energy will be back up soon!

Have a great weekend everyone! :lovestruc

We are on our way back to SoCal for the fourth time in six weeks. Crazy traffic outside of Blythe. Love being able to check traffic while in the car. Apparently westbound traffic on I-10 is closed due to an accident. We might not arrive to my parents house until 2am at this rate.

We are attending the baseball game tomorrow in my father's place.

http://www.jethawks.com/news/press-releases/view/?id=748

The press release is wrong. My dad is still in the hospital, so he won't be in attendance. His condition hasn't changed - no worse, but not any better. It is very sad, but we will be proud to attend in his absence.

Our girls started school this week. Kayla was thrilled about her first day of Kindergarten:

Thank you again for keeping our thoughts on our wonderful vacation (and off this boring drive). Phoenix to SoCal is just plain blah!

Your daughter is so cute....I wish you were on the cruise with us. My daughter would have loved her! And so would Cindy!

I did not think the Bunny stood under the chuppah. I thought he stood outside. But anyway we have a Judge or a Clerk, right?

Jan :confused3

You are right. It is important that the couple be under the Chuppah. I reality the rabbi doesn't marry the two people, they marry each other. The most important part is the ketubah, the legal document that is signed between the couple. You could think of it as a marriage license, but it's really a contract.

Even with all the other trappings ... if there is no ketubah there is no marriage.

I have my parents ketubah (they were married for 57 years) along with all the other family mementos.

We however will just have a clerk and no ketubah, though we are supposed to talk to my rabbi about having a Jewish ceremony here in Chicago.

Hi Cheri  Hope the soreness goes away soon . You have an awful lot planned for someone in an energy slump! I bet it will do you good to keep busy though...and hope it won't be long before you get up one day and realize you feel like yourself again. :goodvibes

Well, it was an absolutely stunning opening to the Olympics. For 10 years I worked on live theater stages making shows fun and now I design one person presentations and it takes everything I have to make them great. To see what their creative team did was mind blowing. I'm sure that every Broadway, show producer, Cirque designers and all the other major large event coordinators were dropping their jaws and taking notes last night. It really takes the old phrase, "Come on guys, lets put on a show!" My first day of film school they defined cinema as the art of combining science and theater and that was the epitome of a craft that I can barely imagine watching let alone creating such a vision. Walt would have been proud of the Chinese last night. :wizard:

Can you tell I love the Olympics? I thought I would be a gymnast in the Olympics when I was little and was lucky enough to meet Cathy Rigby (for you youngins she was the first American woman to ever win a medal in the Olympics in Gymnastics) When I realized I wasn't going to hit that goal, I decided I would be a commentator for sports. At that time my parents told me that women weren't commentators for sports.... stupid me I believed them! :headache: But I think I've told you that little mishap before. Happy Olympics day one everyone.

Another day of shopping, sort of. Sukie and I took Mrs Fezziwig up to Evanston to a farmers market to get some fresh produce.

Sukie is lately really into his diet and has lost 10 lbs since the cruise. For those of you who know WW, I would say he is doing more of the Core plan than anything.

As for me, I have put away the sunflower nut butter (I found I was abusing it) and have stuck to the frozen desserts I've been making using the WW Smoothie mix and also making smoothies using the mix, water and fruit. Sukie and I split it, so it comes out to about 1.5 points per glass for each of us.

The rest of the day, no big plans. We're thinking of a dinner picnic at the botanical gardens, provided it doesn't rain.

Howdy everybody! Been sleeping on and off today. Trying to get motivated to mow (I haven't mowed in about 2 weeks), but just can't seem to get the energy to do it. I realized yesterday at work, when everybody was irritating me and I wanted to slap a bunch of people, I need my St. John's Wort back. I was my happy self while taking that, but when I had to stop to start the drug the Dr. at the migraine clinic gave me, I slowly felt all the bad stuff coming back. Sure, it has reduced the frequency and intensity of my migraines, but I can't go back to feeling cruddy. So I'm going to make a phone call Monday and see what they think I should do. I told the Dr. I didn't believe him that there was a drug that could help my mood AND reduce migraines at the same time. Or maybe there's a different one that will work. We'll see. My first follow up appt isn't until mid-October and I can't wait that long. I gave this med a month to see how it would work and I think that's enough.

Sounds like a nice relaxing day! I hope the rain holds off for you. We're supposed to have rain later this afternoon, and the sky sure looks like that will happen.

Congrats to you and Sukie for your weight loss. Great news! I just keep gaining and gaining and hate it. Desperately trying to get motivated to do something about it. If I could gather the energy to exercise, that would probably also trigger the motivation to eat better to avoid defeating the purpose of exercise. Trying to get there. Unfortunately, I'm back to not wanting to get off the couch and on Saturdays, I usually don't even get dressed until it's time to leave to pick Tyler up.

Somebody come over and slap me, would you?!

Morning Thieves. I can't believe I didn't get out of bed till 9AM! Well, considering I was up for several hours in the middle of the night, I guess that explains it. Fell asleep on the couch, somewhere before 10PM, woke up in the wee hours of the morning and proceeded to watch a couple of episodes of Stargate followed by some HGTV! Finally FORCED myself to go to bed around 4am. :sad2:

PLANKY....thank you so much for your wisdom and guidance! I should have just come to you in the first place. (BTW, the thread I was on regrding drinks on the ship stayed very civil, even though we were disagreeing, another bit of evidence that Disney CRUISERS are a great bunch of people.)

Holly, if anyone agrees to come slap you...AND if it helps...will you send them over to me next? I need to break the cycle of 'not doing anything' about my health/fitness. I know WHAT to do, I just can't seem to force myself to get started. I need to fall back on the 'baby steps' adage and just get wholesome foods into the house for a start. I WILL do that today!

HEY....I'm going to DISNEYLAND in four weeks! :cool1: :yay:
HEY....I'm going to play with some THIEVES in four weeks!:cool1: :yay:

HEY....I'm going to go make a cup of tea now....catch y'all later.

Jackie, your bounciness is very uplifting! Have a great day!

I sure hope my clothes dry before it's time to leave. I'm leaving in about 2 1/2 hours to stop and get gas on the way to pick up Tyler. :goodvibes For some reason I missed him way more than usual this week. I'm anxious to see how his sunburn is doing (I'm sure it's well on the mend by now) and his new jack-o-lantern smile (a top tooth came out Wednesday at dinner). :thumbsup2

Nan - what are you planning to do with Political Science? I think this is just so damn fantastic!

Not really sure. Way back when I was planning on Law School. I just don't know if I have the sticktoitness now to complete a program that long...

we'll see I'm kinda hoping that school will offer me something new to look at and see what more is out there.

Goodmorning, your Royal Meanness! Looking forword to seeing you and the clan in a month.

BTW, Holly and I both need to be slapped....can you take care of that?

:lmao:
