Watching some strange movie on abc with Tom Cruise and these creepy robot type giant creatures that are destroying their city or maybe the world, I don't know, I started watching at 9:20, so I missed the beginning. I can't stand Tom Cruise but am riveted by this creepy movie!

Holly...

We do  Woody... between him and Ian... someone has to make us :rotfl: once in a while...

& it's War of the Worlds...

It was so bad in the movies they are showing it tonight because the Olympics have started and they probably figured nobody would be watching anyway...

Oh and I did have a nice time... even if it did rain each day... Saw lots of friends, which is the reason I went. Going back on Wednesday... for the Craft Fair... :)

Glad you had a good time Michelle!

I'd watch ANYTHING other than the Olympics. :rotfl2: Maybe even paint drying. But I did love the movie. :thumbsup2

Feeling tired these last few days which is unusual for me. I'm sleeping soooo well too.

7 weeks today we will be on our way to La Gomera in the Canary Islands. Not much to do there but relax!!!!!

Ohhhhhh Marilyn... Take us with you!!! Nan's unemployed and has the time... Lisa wants to skip town... and Holly can give up her paper clip chain for just a few days... I want to go :rotfl2: < Child pulling temper tantrum on the floor (ok... it's ME...)

Okay, here is my bad news. I've parted ways with my current client. She is looking for top end forecasting and budgeting crap (which I can do but I hate) and I dragged my little hinnie and didn't get it done, and being that she is a woman and we can see right thru each other, she said let's part ways and remain friends. So I'm gainfully UNEMPLOYED. I've been struggling for the last five years or so with the fact that I make really good money doing what I do, but I HATE IT. Ive done this kind of work for 25 years and i just want a break and to do something that is worthwhile and meaningful. So after a bit of soul searching and crying on the phone with Paul I've decided that it's time for me to go back to school and finish up my degree that I abandoned when I was just 2 classes short of completing. I studied Political Science at San Jose State Univ. I've been dreading looking into what it will take now, as I bet my 2 classes have morphed into 10 or maybe even 20. But I've got to do something to find some kind of work that I enjoy instead of hating what I'm currently doing.

WOW, that was a datadump huh.

So, wish me luck in dealing with the admissions and records office at SJSU not a quest I'm looking forward too :headache:

Life it just too short to spend it doing something you hate (the pot said calling the kettle beige). It sounds like a real opportunity and a new beginning.

Just remember, when a door is closed a window is opened ...

Would you like any other pat maxims?

Seriously, while not necessarily comfortable and a bit scary, it sounds like you will have the opportunity to do something you want to do.

:wizard::wizard::wizard::wizard::wizard::wizard::wizard::wizard::wizard::wizard::wizard::wizard:
:wizard::wizard::wizard::wizard::wizard::wizard::wizard::wizard::wizard:

What he said...

Oh Nan... go for it!!! We need women like you to rule the world!!! and if you put accounting AND political science together... we may even be able to balance the budget... :rotfl:

All wise words, but I have to say that I'm with Lisa. When do we leave and are you sure that us old ladies are what they are looking for????? I guess we can supervise the pre-teens and make sure that they aren't getting into any trouble, and then when they are in bed at a decent hour well stroll to our loungers. I'm the 3rd from the right, and I'll save you your seat. Now I suppose Monica will want to come too. Okay one more seat who will take it????

Seriously, thanks for the words of encouragement. I've already made my easy email inquiry to a friend that is a professor at SJSU. (I'm looking for the easy way this time) I will most likely head over there tomorrow and just deal with the ugly reality of standing in line and asking my questions.

So, I'm DISing from our rental. WHAT A PIG STY. Not only is that hole in the floor a pisser, but the guys that just moved out are total pigs. I've filled a huge 64 ft recycle container with their beer bottles and more. Instead of throwing them, they decided to drop them in the side yard. Paul has gotten all the carpet and floor tacks up so we are ready to have the floors refinished and looking nice. It's a shame that we never did it for ourselves. I'll have to post photos when it's all done. It's such a cute little house.

He is sweeping up so we're outta here for a walk to the local Mexican resturant (that's the other great thing about this house) we could walk to anywhere we wanted to go. Now from our house we have to drive to even get Starbucks.

Catch ya later

64 feet??? Ok... at least here... with that many cans... at 5 cents a piece... you could probably pay for another cruise...

NOW you tell me...:sad2:

Seriously, how did you find out? Was it posted somewhere?
Jan

.
I thought they only had those once--We were trying to remember and decided it was Acapulco day, two margeritas for the price of one ina souvenir glass for $2 extra.
:confused3.

Sound right to anyone?

Jan

Jan, I just happened to be in the right place at the right time :thumbsup2 I had no idea they ever had 2 for 1 drinks until the tray was passing by as I relaxed by the adult pool :goodvibes I don't remember what day the souvenier glasses were offered, but yes it was a 2 for 1 drink and a little extra for the "plastic" glass. I don't remember it being Acapulco day or being a margerita though , but I could be wrong :confused3 Does anyone know if they offered these deals everyday?

Hi Kathe, glad to see you pop in today! :goodvibes

Hi Holly :goodvibes
I went to the Dr's this morning and I will have another 3 1/2 weeks off work for my wrist (surgery was 2 weeks ago) :cool1: :cool1: I know I shouldn't be so happy about this...but I can't help it!! I don't want to go back to work!! So yipee, I get to enjoy the rest of the summer. Sure wish I could afford to actually go somewhere , but I'll be content with reading, relaxing and watching the Olympics, and playing with Serenity, of course :cutie: Serenity and her mom have just left to spend the weekend with some relatives who live about an hour's drive away. I love them, but it is so nice to have my space back for a few days! I guess I'm sounding pretty selfish today :guilty:

What a dilemma ... I don't know whether to offer condolences or congratulations :confused3

Good morning all! Happy August 6th!

Yesterday at work, I had to do some project planning and layout projects on a calendar, looking at the number of days left in August. I don't know where time goes.

I also realized that I'm getting married in less than a month.

I made it very clear at work yesterday that the first week of September was not up for negotiation and that no, I will not consider participating in conference calls and doing email.

No one at work knows that I'm getting married, other than my boss and the head of HR.

I may have answered this... I don't know... I was on vacation...

Tell them you will be on your HONEYMOON and to leave you alone... and Sukie and you will let them know if you are expecting a HONEYMOON baby in 9 months... :lmao: That should shut them up...

I read in the newspaper on the way to work this morning that the other night when we had the bad thunder storms and the tornado warnings here in the city of Chicago, that there were 9.361 lightening strikes in the Chicago area.

Thats for the stats people who think all of our families have 2.4 children and a dog...

There seems to be a Flat Stitch gooing along on the EB too!!!:rolleyes1

There were several Flat Stanleys on our ship... it's part of a children's book. I wholeheartedly support Flat anything.. unless it's Planky... He has too many curves to be flat...

I just think that some people need to get a life. When I go on my next cruise, I'm going to have a red flyer wagon and drag around a few cases of wine with me everywhere I go on the ship.
.

I will be eating with you again right??? I just want to know if you're packing for all of us... ;)

No, that's not selfish! Enjoy your alone time this weekend. We all need that sometimes. I get 3 nights a week of alone time and I love every minute of it!

Welcome Back!
OK, now go home. Wait a minute .... you are home ...

I AM home... for what it's worth... But I'm leaving again on Wednesday...

Did you miss me??? :flower3:

Oh, by the way Kathe, congrats on getting more weeks off work! :goodvibes

Can't stay up anymore. Headed to bed to read.....and eat Smarties! :thumbsup2
