Does anyone know CAcruisin? While I was looking for our threads I read something she wrote. In her signature it says

"IS IT POSSIBLE TO DROWN FROM THE INSIDE OUT?"

:lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

I have to put that on my myspace!

Yup. Drowning is when the air sacs in the lungs fill up with water.

If you are swimming or fall into water and inhale, the water goes into the lungs, fills the air sacs, there is no space for air so no oxygen gets into the blood to be transported to the cells, then they cannot function and you die.

With pneumonia or congestive heart failure the lungs fill up with fluid. There is no space for air so no way to get oxygen to the cells. It's like drowning but not in water.

Jan :sad2:

I started to laugh when I read this...:rotfl2:

then this...:lmao:

okay this is better than the fly the paper airplane out the window (snaps to Marilyn for that one):rotfl:

You guys I really needed this laugh I have some bad news...I spill at the end...

It wasn't into each other's cabins here, it was sneaking down to the creek, to steal a kiss or 5

Thankfully my 2 best friends from church are very invovled and there. One is the assistant to the youth minister. We had a chuckle at drop of day about "when we went to Daybreak" She told me doesn't happen anymore, they are invovled in activities around the clock (as you can well see, check out that go-karting)

ya it was me, 5 kisses and nothing more. I was 12 what did I know then???:rolleyes1

hey you, what are you laughing at, didn't you go to church camp?

Okay, here is my bad news. I've parted ways with my current client. She is looking for top end forecasting and budgeting crap (which I can do but I hate) and I dragged my little hinnie and didn't get it done, and being that she is a woman and we can see right thru each other, she said let's part ways and remain friends. So I'm gainfully UNEMPLOYED. I've been struggling for the last five years or so with the fact that I make really good money doing what I do, but I HATE IT. Ive done this kind of work for 25 years and i just want a break and to do something that is worthwhile and meaningful. So after a bit of soul searching and crying on the phone with Paul I've decided that it's time for me to go back to school and finish up my degree that I abandoned when I was just 2 classes short of completing. I studied Political Science at San Jose State Univ. I've been dreading looking into what it will take now, as I bet my 2 classes have morphed into 10 or maybe even 20. But I've got to do something to find some kind of work that I enjoy instead of hating what I'm currently doing.

WOW, that was a datadump huh.

So, wish me luck in dealing with the admissions and records office at SJSU not a quest I'm looking forward too :headache:

YOU are the one who needed all those laughs!

But, this could be the beginning of a great adventure! The Chinese word for CRISIS :scared:
("wa-gee" or something like that--apologies to anyone who knows Chinese)
is formed of two characters.
One is DANGER
and the other is OPPORTUNITY. :thumbsup2

You are in a CRISIS, but as you step out and face the DANGER of the details with SJSU you will discover OPPORTUNITIES you probably cannot even imagine.

:cheer2: :yay: YOU GO GIRL!!:yay: :cheer2:

what's up my cruising peeps?

Samamtha had her K assessment today....I took her to my office before hand just because....it was quite funny...everyone was oh she's going into second grade right? Ummmm no!

then poor Haley, my dad sent S a Disney back pack...now Haley wants a packpack (as she calls them)

anyway hope everyone is well, I am on a not sleeping binge,,,,,,,,,,,,,a bad thing.

Life it just too short to spend it doing something you hate (the pot said calling the kettle beige). It sounds like a real opportunity and a new beginning.

Just remember, when a door is closed a window is opened ...

Would you like any other pat maxims?

Seriously, while not necessarily comfortable and a bit scary, it sounds like you will have the opportunity to do something you want to do.

:wizard::wizard::wizard::wizard::wizard::wizard::wizard::wizard::wizard::wizard::wizard::wizard:
:wizard::wizard::wizard::wizard::wizard::wizard::wizard::wizard::wizard:

That one has always puzzled me. :confused3 If a door closes, why in the world would I want to try to go out a window?

In my life, I am always trying to get out a window by walking toward it and bumping into the wall beneath it, not climbing out of it, when a perfectly positioned door is OPEN behind me and all I have to do is TURN AROUND and walk out of it. :goodvibes

But, remember, I am the DENSE one

FIRST I READ THIS:
I read in the newspaper on the way to work this morning that the other night when we had the bad thunder storms and the tornado warnings here in the city of Chicago, that there were 9.361 lightening strikes in the Chicago area.

NEXT I POSTED THIS:
9 lightening strikes I understand.

But

what does .361 of a lightening strike look like? :confused3

:rotfl: Jan :rotfl2:

PS: can you tell I should be getting some sleep instead of DISing?

THEN I READ THIS:
I just had a DUH moment. I read that and I was thinking how to they get a part lightning strike and why out to the first 3 decimals? Then I realized it was 9thousand+361 not 9. Time to fully wake up and get to work.

Good morning everybody!

SO NOW WE REALLY UNDERSTAND THE PS ABOVE.

Thanks Shannon! I think it went well. The office administrator had the paralegal sit in so she could ask questions too. But they have a huge stack of resumes of people they're going to interview, so she told me it would be the end of next week before they make any decisions. Then they'll have a couple finalists come back to meet with the 3 attorneys the assistant will work for. I'd work for 3 attorneys and the paralegal, where now I work for 1 or 2 attorneys. SO.....my days of boredom would sure be gone! :thumbsup2 This job would require getting up a half hour earlier, and there's no flexibility as far as me working through lunch to get Tyler to occupational therapy on Tuesdays and karate on Mon & Wed. So I'd need to find out about changing our OT appointment and then Tyler could do the evening karate class on Tuesdays since he seems to be able to stay up later now, and his dad would just have to take him to the evening class on Thursdays or afternoon on Saturdays. I doubt he'd do that every week though because he gets out of work and wants to just go home and stay home. So of course, I'd offer to take Tyler to the evening class on his dad's day. It sucks being the only parent willing to do the daily running around after work.

I hope you are successful Holly. Isn't the waiting a pain though?

Why in the world do I babble so much? Sorry everybody! ;) I wish I could respond like Woody. Straight to the point. But of course, then you'd all have a heart attack and wonder what happened to me! :rotfl2:

You are you and Woody is Woody. We wouldn't have it any other way. Well, apart from a few more words from Woody!!!:lmao:

Its just the security on the work computers won't let the pictures come through. Its nothing you did - its just a teaser for me when I pop in and know that the pictures are there, but I can't see them :lmao: :lmao:
They have many things blocked from coming through at all. Facebook is banned completely (too many people abusing it). They do allow us to do personal stuff on breaks, but they have started blocking more and more.

Looking at it from the other side, John had 2 staff regularly wasting their days on the Internet. He slowly had to devise ways of getting them back to work!!!:rolleyes1

I have a bit of a dilemma, one of the guys who reports to me bought a house a few months ago.

He and his friends are planning a party this coming Saturday night.

He is 24 and his friends range from 22 to 24.

He REALLY wants me to come his party. My whole team has been pestering me to come to this party. My team ranges from 24 to 26 year olds.

For some reason it is a really big deal for them that I show up. It seems really important to Ed that I come to his party and he nags me about it several times a day, and keeps promising me that it will be "awesome."

(I am not quite sure how I became the leader of the "lost boys.")

To make matters worse, I live on the northside, and his house is on the southside near Midway airport. It's over an hour away from me, and the party starts at 6PM.

I really don't know what to do. I really don't want to go, but this seems so important to him.

I have no clue why these guys are so attached to me. It's like I'm their surrogate father or something. In fact, Ed's father is only 3 months older than me.

I mean do I really want to go to a wild house party with a bunch of 22 to 26 year old boys (and don't anybody dare make a comment about that), just to make these guys happy?

Mmmm, if you don't want to go then don't. Life is too short, and I am sure they wioll soon forget you aren't there.:lmao:

Sukie has offered to drive down with me, if there is someplace nearby where he can kill an hour. He also said that he would come to the party with me, but I would owe him big time.

I have told this guy that I don't want to come to the party. I have flatly said that I have better things to do with my life and that I am his boss and not one of his "pals" in the school yard.

I am just baffled as to why my guys are so attached to me. Even when I go out to lunch with them, which literally happens about every 5 months it is a HUGE event for them.

I'm going to have to look up the address and see what is in the area so that maybe I can bring Sukie with me.

Is he stalking you?

I just think that some people need to get a life. When I go on my next cruise, I'm going to have a red flyer wagon and drag around a few cases of wine with me everywhere I go on the ship.

.

You will have a long line of Dis'ers following you!!!:rotfl2:

I'm exhausted and am going off to bed.

Since I don't know what's going on with this wedding. I just wanted to show you an example of they type of wedding cake I don't want:

castlecake03_jpg.jpg

Very tasteful.

More from POTD2 Wish I had met Bobbybear.

Jan :goodvibes

He was on our shuttle from Budget at the Port to the ship and then I never recognised him again. Well I only spoke to the back of his head. We were all so excited and all going on our cruise!!!

Hi V. Summer soon over at your house then with the start of school. Now that is silly - summer is never over where you are.:lmao:

Good morning/afternoon everybody! Here I sit, bored again. ;) You know, I've been thinking I probably wouldn't like to interview for any more new jobs because I might actually have to do some work! I'm quite enjoying not doing anything all day! :lmao: Just kidding.....it can get boring. I updated my resume last week on a local website here for job postings, and a law firm found me and called me yesterday for an interview. I haven't returned the call yet because I wanted to check them out online first. It's a small firm, 6 lawyers, 4 of them are women. I do NOT handle working for women very well. I don't know why, it's just something I don't like. However, I will still interview with them because perhaps I'll be lucky enough to get to work for the 2 men there (one of them is very cute!). It's just tough now because any new place I work will have to be flexible with Tyler's appointments and the possibility of me getting a call from school to remove him. I have total flexibility at my current job, with all the appointments and even if I want to participate in things at his school. So I'll likely stay where I am for now, as long as they keep giving me raises. Most people here get 25 cent raises every year, I get much more (one time I got $2.00 and for the current year I got $1.00), so they do appreciate me for some reason. I must be good at looking like I'm busy! :rotfl2:

Yup, it's a gift! ::yes::

Seriously, if you look busy when clients come in, it presents a good appearance that the firm is busy and productive. Your voice on the phone and your appearance at the desk do make a difference. Even reading the DIS, the client sees you working at a computer not filing your nails.

When considering a job, it is wise to consider all the angles and the perks you have may be the deal breaker here. Only you can decide. :thumbsup2

BEST WISHES!

I did not know you were going to have them signed by the characters! :thumbsup2 WONDERFUL!! Do the kids enjoy using them now? I am so glad we figured out how to get them to the ship.

More money does not buy you more time with your son.

We don't need two Woodys, we need one Woody and one Holly. ::yes::

Jan

Links on page one, dear.

SO DID YOU GUYS KNOW:

That is is, "wrong, unethical, bendiing rules and/or rude".....to carry in a glass of your own wine to dinner on the ship? (But apparently not any other location on the ship.)

I didn't........

.

Amy Vanderbilt? Dear Abby? Emily Post? certainly not the advice of Planky!
(where is a smilie to represent Planky?)

Jan :earsgirl:

No, this is the opinion of fellow DISers. DCL has NO problem with it. I'm just confused why some folks picked on this one aspect of having your own alcohol on board as being 'wrong' or 'bendiing the rules'.

Apparently it is not 'wrong', 'bending', 'rude' etc to bring your own glass of wine anywhere ELSE on the ship...just dinner. :confused3

.

We had a two for the price of one on drinks on one cruise--if they did it on the PC Crossing, I missed it--and I got two flutes of MARTINI and ROSSI ASTI in Rockin Bar D during a scavenger hunt game. I carried one to dinner. How is that different from filling the glass in one's stateroom and carrying it to dinner?

However, if you have your moonshine in an earthenware jug resting on your shoulder so you can catch a swig as you walk to Palo, maybe that would be considered rude. :confused3

But is it rude to be carrying that jug?
or is it rude to be swigging as you walk along? :drinking1:
or is it rude to lose your grip and drop it on someone's kid? :scared1:

Jan

Haley could have a packpack for her important stuff to take to daycare. She could even pick our her OWN at the store! Walmart has some nice ones.

Wow: Do we think Marilyn and Robert were on the same excursion? Double decker boat maybe with Marilyn on the lower level and Robert on the top?
OR
are those maniquines not people on the sand?
Jan

I was thinking the same thing. There were a lot of us and I didn't venture on top. I wouldn't have recognised Robert though. We must have clicked almost at the same time as the people look to be in the same mid step.

I'm currently working on videos from Busch gardens... mostly Kevin Johnson who was on our cruise... He is at Busch untill later this month, then hes back in cali except for a magic cruise in nov. Then back at busch for the between christmas and new years peak season

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eHGAEzTgUvM - video 1 is up, video 2 is processing video 3 is not worked on yet
