Good luck with your interview Holly!
Thanks Shannon! I think it went well. The office administrator had the paralegal sit in so she could ask questions too. But they have a huge stack of resumes of people they're going to interview, so she told me it would be the end of next week before they make any decisions. Then they'll have a couple finalists come back to meet with the 3 attorneys the assistant will work for. I'd work for 3 attorneys and the paralegal, where now I work for 1 or 2 attorneys. SO.....my days of boredom would sure be gone! :thumbsup2 This job would require getting up a half hour earlier, and there's no flexibility as far as me working through lunch to get Tyler to occupational therapy on Tuesdays and karate on Mon & Wed. So I'd need to find out about changing our OT appointment and then Tyler could do the evening karate class on Tuesdays since he seems to be able to stay up later now, and his dad would just have to take him to the evening class on Thursdays or afternoon on Saturdays. I doubt he'd do that every week though because he gets out of work and wants to just go home and stay home. So of course, I'd offer to take Tyler to the evening class on his dad's day. It sucks being the only parent willing to do the daily running around after work.

Why in the world do I babble so much? Sorry everybody! ;) I wish I could respond like Woody. Straight to the point. But of course, then you'd all have a heart attack and wonder what happened to me! :rotfl2:

Oh dear as very bad weather here, hope not affect it?:confused3

let me know how you get on later okay

Scottishwee35

Its just the security on the work computers won't let the pictures come through. Its nothing you did - its just a teaser for me when I pop in and know that the pictures are there, but I can't see them :lmao: :lmao:
They have many things blocked from coming through at all. Facebook is banned completely (too many people abusing it). They do allow us to do personal stuff on breaks, but they have started blocking more and more.

That is is, "wrong, unethical, bendiing rules and/or rude".....to carry in a glass of your own wine to dinner on the ship? (But apparently not any other location on the ship.)

I didn't........

Oh.....I'm not actually sick.....:rolleyes1

Really, was just super tired and achy this am and needed some down time. Should have gone in after having lunch with Peg, but instead I came back home and napped. So I guess I must have needed it.

HEY YOU GUYS....back up and see post #2245....I need some reaction here.

.

I have a bit of a dilemma, one of the guys who reports to me bought a house a few months ago.

He and his friends are planning a party this coming Saturday night.

He is 24 and his friends range from 22 to 24.

He REALLY wants me to come his party. My whole team has been pestering me to come to this party. My team ranges from 24 to 26 year olds.

For some reason it is a really big deal for them that I show up. It seems really important to Ed that I come to his party and he nags me about it several times a day, and keeps promising me that it will be "awesome."

(I am not quite sure how I became the leader of the "lost boys.")

To make matters worse, I live on the northside, and his house is on the southside near Midway airport. It's over an hour away from me, and the party starts at 6PM.

I really don't know what to do. I really don't want to go, but this seems so important to him.

I have no clue why these guys are so attached to me. It's like I'm their surrogate father or something. In fact, Ed's father is only 3 months older than me.

I mean do I really want to go to a wild house party with a bunch of 22 to 26 year old boys (and don't anybody dare make a comment about that), just to make these guys happy?

Well, I know how.....you're a cool guy.

I think Sukie will suddenly have a commitment that you must attend with him ??? (Family is always a good excuse.) Sudden out of town guests?

Anything else going on on the south side you could do to make a drive down, shall we say, more worth it? Then you can pop in for a drink and head out before things get "awsome".

Just DON'T say 'maybe' if you really have no intention of going...just go ahead a lie about the reason you can't gol :lmao:

Hmm ... where are you getting this quote from? It seems a little bizarre and reads to me more like a guideline.

Sukie has offered to drive down with me, if there is someplace nearby where he can kill an hour. He also said that he would come to the party with me, but I would owe him big time.

I have told this guy that I don't want to come to the party. I have flatly said that I have better things to do with my life and that I am his boss and not one of his "pals" in the school yard.

I am just baffled as to why my guys are so attached to me. Even when I go out to lunch with them, which literally happens about every 5 months it is a HUGE event for them.

I'm going to have to look up the address and see what is in the area so that maybe I can bring Sukie with me.

No, this is the opinion of fellow DISers. DCL has NO problem with it. I'm just confused why some folks picked on this one aspect of having your own alcohol on board as being 'wrong' or 'bendiing the rules'.

Apparently it is not 'wrong', 'bending', 'rude' etc to bring your own glass of wine anywhere ELSE on the ship...just dinner. :confused3

.

Wow, I fell asleep on the couch for a couple of hours. Feel like I could continue sleeping right through the night, but had to get up and fix a sandwich for dinner so I don't wake up starving in the middle of the night.

Jackie, I think some people just need to find something to b_tch about. I say, just go with the flow. Others do it, so it's really not "rude or unethical or wrong".

Ian, you might be sort of their hero because surely they see you always handling things under pressure. When management keeps dumping an impossible amount of work on you and your team, you still manage to get the job done and lead your team to success. People look up to a person with that type of skill. I think your plan to go for an hour while Sukie finds some way to kill time is perfect. Just tell them you only have time to stop by for a drink on your way to a previous obligation. :thumbsup2

Ian I had this same problem every summer when our camp counselors came to work at our school. Everytime they had an end of camp party at one of the kids (18-26 year olds) houses they'd beg me to come. I used to decline, but I don't anymore...why???? because I realize that it's cool to be likable to a bunch of kids that could be my children! I usually show up for about an hour (if that) and then excuse myself and vacate. Let them party and have fun w/o me. I always have a good time and alot of these kids return each summer and just remind me how cool I am to them...I, of course, don't think so but i'll take the compliment. So what I'm saying is TAKE THE COMPLIMENT! You're cool!

Here's my quarter....
Is it wrong? If it is why didn't anyone on the ship tell me it was as I brought my own drink every night. Additionally, I double checked with guest services before boarding on the "bring your own policy" and was told no problem.
Unethical...really???? I'm on vacation, I'm not trying to be ethical! hahahaha
Bending the rules (see the wrong answer above)
Rude...I don't think so. I tipped my servers very well (over and above the recommended amount) to make up for the fact that I didn't have bought drinks at dinner. Oh and some times I did buy the drink on the menu and I tipped well then too. So I don't think that was rude either.

there's my quarter of insight...not much!:rotfl2:

Well, I so agree here...that's why some of us were  that a couple of people were bent out of shape that people would have the nerve to bring a glass into dinner, and therefore deprive DCL the opportunity to sell us a glass and subsequently the price of cruises would not have to increase because people were bringing their own. Mostly what surprised me was one of them is a very nice, helpful, frequent DIS poster....who USUALLY has his facts straight. That's what made me ask over here what you kids thought...maybe I was missing something. :confused3

I'm getting a rumbly in my tummy....time to hunt down food and beverage.
