Sukie has offered to drive down with me, if there is someplace nearby where he can kill an hour. He also said that he would come to the party with me, but I would owe him big time.

I have told this guy that I don't want to come to the party. I have flatly said that I have better things to do with my life and that I am his boss and not one of his "pals" in the school yard.

I am just baffled as to why my guys are so attached to me. Even when I go out to lunch with them, which literally happens about every 5 months it is a HUGE event for them.

I'm going to have to look up the address and see what is in the area so that maybe I can bring Sukie with me.

OK now this is a different situation. I don't think you should go if you are his boss. That's just asking for trouble. I don't know how your friendship is but maybe he is trying to get in good with you and that is why he is so excited when you go to lunch or do anything outside of work :confused3 Jon has people at work that are under him and they always invite us and he always says no. This is even harder for him because he is younger than a lot of them and some are his age.

No, this is the opinion of fellow DISers. DCL has NO problem with it. I'm just confused why some folks picked on this one aspect of having your own alcohol on board as being 'wrong' or 'bendiing the rules'.

Apparently it is not 'wrong', 'bending', 'rude' etc to bring your own glass of wine anywhere ELSE on the ship...just dinner. :confused3

.

I felt like it was different because we kind of new her. If we took a drink from our room to the pool, I didn't feel as bad because I didn't really know the waiters that well. If I took it to Rockin' Bar D then I knew he was going to get tipped well because I know Jon would tip them plus we would be drinking a lot more than just that one drink. I think we tipped a guy 20.00 one night and we never ordered a drink because Marr brought all the alcohol in. I think you just have to be considerate.

It only matters when they are passing off information to newbies as if it were a fact. I have a strong motherly instinct to protect baby disers. ;)

As for myself...you're so right!

.

Thanks for protecting baby DISers. I know it made my trip better!

I just think that some people need to get a life. When I go on my next cruise, I'm going to have a red flyer wagon and drag around a few cases of wine with me everywhere I go on the ship.

.

I would like to see that. Oh wait that's what Marr did :lmao:

I'm exhausted and am going off to bed.

Since I don't know what's going on with this wedding. I just wanted to show you an example of they type of wedding cake I don't want:

castlecake03_jpg.jpg

That's too much cake for us ;)

We had a two for the price of one on drinks on one cruise--if they did it on the PC Crossing, I missed it--and I got two flutes of MARTINI and ROSSI ASTI in Rockin Bar D during a scavenger hunt game. I carried one to dinner. How is that different from filling the glass in one's stateroom and carrying it to dinner?

However, if you have your moonshine in an earthenware jug resting on your shoulder so you can catch a swig as you walk to Palo, maybe that would be considered rude. :confused3

But is it rude to be carrying that jug?
or is it rude to be swigging as you walk along? :drinking1:
or is it rude to lose your grip and drop it on someone's kid? :scared1:

Jan

I can remember drinking from my jug until it was out and then drinking out of everyone else's. Now that may be rude but I did NOT drop anything on any kids!

Geez am I behind.

I'm not even sure if I could catch up if I tried.

Funny part is before the cruise I was the one keeping up to date on everything and keeping Shannon informed as to what is going on around here.

Now post-cruise (why do I have to stifle a cry when I use that word??) Shannon is the one keeping me up to date on here as I am seriously slacking on keeping up.

I'm not posting much because of work and summertime events - but I am being kept abreast of everything.

My aunt spoke to her travel agent who said the inside word for DCL in 2010 is back to the Med. Now I'm not sure I would put much faith in that TA as she wasn't very reliable for my aunt this past trip, but we shall see.

SO if that is the case - is it a Med cruise or the transatlantic that we do? Eastbound or Westbound? I'm kinda inclined to do the Westbound because it will be longer (time zone changes)... ;)

Now back to dealing with my toothache ... oh yeah and work too

We are waiting to decide but I'm relieved there is no talk of Alaska! The flights will probably be more than the cruise

Nan, what are you going to do about the kids when you get a real job? That's not going to be easy.

not sure. For now it's just school so that happens while they are in school so I'll deal with the job thing when it is in front of me.

It's so weird because these guys are less than half my age. Maybe there is some alpha dog thing going on.

Today I told him I would come only if everyone who came to the party gave me a gift of not less than $20 in value. I pointed out to him that if he wanted me to act like his pal I would, and so this is the same thing I would require of a friend.

I went for a walk on my lunch hour and it was quite chilly outside, so you'd think that would have helped me wake up a bit. No such luck. My bed is calling my name!

Links on page one, dear.

SO DID YOU GUYS KNOW:

That is is, "wrong, unethical, bendiing rules and/or rude".....to carry in a glass of your own wine to dinner on the ship? (But apparently not any other location on the ship.)

I didn't........

.

thank you I forgot you are the recordkeeper of this stuff :flower3:

and according to whom???

I have a bit of a dilemma, one of the guys who reports to me bought a house a few months ago.

He and his friends are planning a party this coming Saturday night.

He is 24 and his friends range from 22 to 24.

He REALLY wants me to come his party. My whole team has been pestering me to come to this party. My team ranges from 24 to 26 year olds.

For some reason it is a really big deal for them that I show up. It seems really important to Ed that I come to his party and he nags me about it several times a day, and keeps promising me that it will be "awesome."

(I am not quite sure how I became the leader of the "lost boys.")

To make matters worse, I live on the northside, and his house is on the southside near Midway airport. It's over an hour away from me, and the party starts at 6PM.

I really don't know what to do. I really don't want to go, but this seems so important to him.

I have no clue why these guys are so attached to me. It's like I'm their surrogate father or something. In fact, Ed's father is only 3 months older than me.

I mean do I really want to go to a wild house party with a bunch of 22 to 26 year old boys (and don't anybody dare make a comment about that), just to make these guys happy?

nope.

I just think that some people need to get a life. When I go on my next cruise, I'm going to have a red flyer wagon and drag around a few cases of wine with me everywhere I go on the ship.

.

that is why those lost boys wanna party with you :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

and me too...:worship:

crap I wish I knew this before I placed that non-refundable deposit :rolleyes1

What a great camp!

Jan

Thanks, I'm so glad they are there. Many years ago, when I was a sprite a group at our church bought the land and created the camp. It's a good place in my heart for all my childhood memories and some strong adult ones too. Paul and I visited camp the night we got engaged. My sister-in-law was a cook there for many years and that night I had to tell her our good news in person. It is a special memory.

I heard the same thing....and i'm thinking westbound too. Time change should be working to OUR advantage! Think of all those late nights at rocking bar d!

not sure. For now it's just school so that happens while they are in school so I'll deal with the job thing when it is in front of me.

Good Luck. I'm thinking I will have to get a real job soon too but I hope I can be off when they are off. My old boss just had a baby and he hasn't said anything but I think his wife might be taking over my job so she can stay home. My income is just extra but it sure was nice to have. I need to do something before 2010 or I won't be on that trip either.

Let's just hope Molly isn't making those same memories :lmao:
