Yup! But then, I talk to anyone. My family say I can talk to a tree and get it to talk back.....![]()

We're OK. At about 8:00 PM the emergency sirens started going off. Sukie and I thought they were car alarms, but our tenants upstairs were watching TV and said that tornados were headed for the north side and that people should go into the basement.
(The sirens sound like an air raid)
So, into the basement, sirens going off, the 4 of us with 4 dogs went. On the radio they said that they had close Wrigley field and that the winds were up to 80 MPH.
We were down in basement for about a half an hour when we heard on the radio that the warning for the north side was over.
Water was coming in under the back door (which is half a flight up from the basement), but luckily not that much.
I've lived in Chicago since 1983 and have never heard the sirens go off.
It was pretty scary.
We got our internet back just a few minutes ago.
(I however think that Sukie secretly relished it, probably pretending he was in London during the blitz. I'm surprised he didn't break out into a rendition of "There'll Be Blue Birds Over the White Cliffs of Dover.")
Seriously, it was really quite tense.
Rain.what was the water from? glad you are ok![]()
it has been reallly quiet around here.
I doubt that we will find trouble for ourselves.
Paul is working on our rental house and found something very disturbing. He was pulling up the carpet, as we are having the hardwood floors refinished in the bedrooms as the carpet was dated and dirty. He found a hole cut thru the floor ALL THE WAY THRU THE FLOOR AND SUBFLOOR. It was hid under the carpet in the bedroom. It looks like it was a drug stashing place. We had a tennant a few years back that we suspected that he was growing pot and dealing from the house. When he moved out we found evidence of a grow lab in the garage.
I'm a bit pissed to say the least. This will be a couple grand to repair.![]()
It sucks when people take advantage of other people like this.
Rain.
That just makes me so mad! The unabashed gall to do something so crappy like that.
Below in blue is an email I just got from Kaylee. I just read this myself, so I have nothing more to input. I know the power of prayer works, so we have a heavy task at hand for our dear friend.![]()
So, I(Kaylee) am writing to you from my bed after spending the entire day in ER yesterday.....not the greatest email, I know but I need all good energy I can get. So I lost my eyesight in my L eye on Sat am (was kind of going away on F, but I ignored it). We went to an eye doc yesterday and the look on his face said it all, so we went straight to an ER where my friend had already spoken to the opthamologist on call. Well, after 7 hours there I let after a 1gm IV of prednisone and the diagnosis of MS. I haven't accepted that diagnosis yet and I have lots of docs appts starting at 7am on Monday. So far my vision is no better and it is the worst feeling in the world. Thankfully my mom is being great....which is helpful to Scott since he is having a hard time with this all...... I won't be getting on the boards anytime soon....but if you want to post something Nan asking for pixie dust and prayers that would be ok with me.....that list is great for helping people get better.
I'll be in touch with her and will keep you all posted on whatever the news is.
Nan

morning all!!
Hope everyone is doing well. We went to Sanibel for the weekend...was fun until Samantha CALLED 911!! OMG! I guess that's what happens with 8 phones and inquisitive girls in a house....luckily the cop was very nice and sat and talked with her for about 30min!
I was mortified. She was def John's kid that day!
I finished the 6th book in the LB series, started my second mba class and gearing up for Samantha starting school on 8/18. We went shopping tonight and got SOAKED, I mean thouroughly wet.....she is excited.
I miss everyone, will try and check back in more often!

Things are going OK. Slight improvements. He only had one bad day last week. This week started out bad too, with yesterday being horrible in the morning, according to one teacher. When I see the morning teacher this morning, I'm sure she'll tell me what happened.Ian and Sukie glad all is well!
Holly how are things with Tyler going?
The water was coming in from the rain. Tornadoes are accompanied by heavy thunder storms.
In this case, the rain was coming down so fast and so heavy that it could not drain fast enough and so was coming over the threshold of back door.
Good afternoon Marilyn! What's new with you today?
