Yep, Peg has changed her birthday adventure from a trip to Jackson Hole to the Tortola cruise! So the family has been given the info and we'll see who all will show up! Cruising is so much easier for a group vacation, I think. Sister Dianne will be rooming with me and we are getting a verandah stateroom.

I'm so excited that the Sept cruise is no longer a 'maybe' and is a 'done deal'

We don't have that phenomenon, at least here in Chicago. We have people collecting for charities, but with containers, not trying to get a credit card.

We also have children panhandling and selling candy bars to raise money for their schools.

OK, I exaggerate a bit but it is typical to have children selling candy of some kind to raise money for something in their schools.

Having no children, I probably can't comment and am out of touch, but I seem to remember these sorts of things used to be funded. I know that I never had to do this. The only exception back in the middle ages was Trick or Treat for Unicef.

We have that a lot here too. I don't think they are really raising money for the schools because the schools tell you to only sell to people you know. Plus there always seems to be A LOT more at Christmas time. The things my kids sell are always out of a catalog. We do sell girl scout cookies but there is always plenty of adults with them.

You can still buy whip and tops today, but I haen't seen a child play with one. They would be good exercise though.

Am going back to the Dr on the 19th to talk about meds & some other issues. Depression has been getting worse over the last month....want to get things back on the up swing again.

Last Sunday I just cried for no reason for about a 1/2 hr (really balled (sp?)) and then this past Friday at work the lead agent came over in the am and asked me if I would issue tickets for the last 1 1/2 hrs of the day and I almost burst out crying then too. Want to bite all my co-workers heads off to. At times like this I really wished I worked from home.

Thank you all for the thoughts, prayers, pixie dust, s and support. I don't know if you guys realize how much they (and you) mean to me (as my eyes start to tear up). Must stop now or I will start crying & don't want to have to explain that here at work.

I booked for 24 Oct for Eastern with Disney Cruise but remember it is DUMMY OR DUMMIES as I don't think we can afford it next year

Gas/petrol/foods go up more expensive now

When this Nov/Dec when we hear the announcement for 2010 then we might change it to 2010.

I still go to New York next year .

Gas is actually going down a little here. I think it is around 4.10. I want to book when the kids are out of school but it so much more expensive. I think we will be waiting until 2010 and we'll just take our normal vacations next year, even though all together they probably add up to the same cost. I really don't want to take the kids out every year. I hope there is a good itinerary.

Have fun! I'm thinking of taking Tyler the last week of August to the one we have here for a day or 2. The summer child care program at school is closed the last week before school starts, so I'm taking off that Mon, Tues and Wed the end of Aug. I could use my neighbor across the street for back up because she runs a day care out of her home, but I'd rather spend the time with Tyler and have a last summer fling before school starts.

There's always somebody selling candy bars, or catalog stuff, but mostly kids get their parents to do it at work, so not too many kids come door to door. I'm a sucker for the girl guides and boy scouts if they come around in their uniforms.

MADD drives me crazy - I've donated to them a couple times right after I had Shaelyn, and then they call all the time, so I've finally told them to stop calling. There was also issues with that group having very high admin costs, so very little raised actually went were donors thought it would.

I could leave now, I'm all signed out. But, I have to wait for a bit so my co-workers can feed me some goodies! The medical center will have a "Tea" for me on Aug 11 (I'll come back for a couple of hours) for all the employees. I did not give them much notice (2 days) as to when I was actually leaving, so that left them without much planning time to get a room reserved, etc. That is a good thing though because Dennis can come with me that day. He worked here for several years also and it will be nice for him to see his friends once more also.
