Wow we just had a 5.8 earth quake and it was centered a few miles from my house. Did you feel it Woody?

A picture fell but no damage. It lasted a while and I managed to get the kids under the table. I think this the first big one they have felt. And then a 3. something aftershock. My sis was at toy r us and she said stuff was flying everywhere.

Everything seems to be fine except the kids are running around crazy. I've never had to put them under the table before. The stupid part was the I stayed there making sure they didn't get out instead of getting into a door way. You never know what you'll do in certain situation.

At first you're never sure if it is an earthquake or some test plane breaking the sound barrier. When the space shuttle lands here it is similar. They felt it in San Diego and Las Vegas. We felt 3 small ones this morning, but we weren't sure they were quakes. We don't feel anything under 4's usually.

There are so many theories about what to do and where the safest places are to be. All of our neighbors came outside. The school did evacuation, probably scared the crap out of Zoe. I hate that her first big earthquake was away from us.

Did you get a hold of the school. A lot of the phones are down. We live close to a freeway so I didn't know if it was a big truck. Bubba tried to call my cell and it said call failed. Then he called my house and the caller ID said it was Jon Everything is all messed up.

My kids are a little excited so she is probably fine. Ethan did say "Now I know why they have those earthquake drills". I guess he didn't think it would ever happen. But they didn't seem scared at all. They thought it was fun and it was like they got a shot of adrenalin!
