Hi everyone....I wanted to pop on and say HI! I am here on and off but have been so busy, I just can't seem to say current . We went to the Oregon Coast this weekend and had a fabulous time.
We then came home to find out that one of the girls on Jaide's soccer team was killed in a plane crash ..... we didn't really know the girl as she was new to the team, but it will certainly be a hard practice tomorrow night. I know many of you are great for sending prayers and I think this girl's father really needs some right now...his wife was the pilot of the plane and his daughter was one of the passengers. A well known surgeon in our area was the 3rd passenger. What a hard time for many right now in my area. Thanks for the prayers......

Oh how awful for the girls to have to experience death at such a young age. That crash made our news down here. We had two of our students in a plane crash down in Panama at Xmas and they did an entire hour about it on 20/20 it was awful and devastasted the entire town and school. The impact of the loss spreads so far out past their families. Good luck finding all the right words of comfort right now. don't be surprised if there are some nightmares in your house.

That's wonderful news...did you talk to Tyler about it last night? How was he feeling about this? Baby steps.

I talked to him about it before we even left school. I told him we don't need to talk about the morning events, but I reinforced just what you mentioned Jan, and told him that's exactly what we're looking for from him. He needs to be reminded what to expect so he'll know how to adapt his behavior. I told him the medicine won't do it by itself, but needs his help. I told him the medicine will just give him time to think before lashing out. I told him he should be very proud of his efforts in the afternoon because I sure was. Then when his dad called to say hi to him after karate, I told Tyler to make sure he tells his dad how great he did in the afternoon. Tyler didn't seem to care much, but I'll just keep reinforcing the good. I also e-mailed his dad too this morning, to tell him the benefits the afternoon teacher is starting to see and also the things I told Tyler and what is important for us to reinforce, etc.

I had a more positive e-mail from Tyler's dad today. He acknowledges that it's good that we can see slight benefits, BUT he thinks we should call the doctor and tell him we don't want to increase to the full dose since we're seeing slight benefits. But instead of insisting on this, he asked my thoughts. I politely responded with the following:

"I already increased his dose by giving him the pill this morning. I'm sorry, but I'm for sticking with what the doctor told us to do because we need to give it a chance to work at the full dose. The full dose is such a tiny amount, only 1/4 of a mg. His first med check is less than 2 weeks away, I'm more in favor for doing as directed. No harm will come to him by letting time tell what the full dose will do because it's such a small dose and such a short time."

What's interesting is that this time when he e-mailed me, he did NOT cc stepmom. He always cc's her when he e-mails me. So I'm wondering if they had a heated discussion last night. When she e-mailed me those 2 very angry e-mails (which I did NOT respond to), she also cc'd him. I'm wondering if he told her to back off. Interesting, huh? Especially since he's much more reasonable today.

For those who asked about Deb, she's just having a hard time right now. It's the anniversary of when she lost her mom last year, and her favorite uncle (her mom's brother) was sick, but last I heard, he's improving. I PM'd her some more hugs the other day but haven't heard back. I think she's just trying to deal with all of that and taking some time to herself. I'm sure John's taking good care of her because he always does!

We got the word last night that the buyer is ready to move forward!!! We sign the paperwork tomorrow and close on Aug 5! My last day of work will be THIS THURSDAY! Wow, 2 more days! Dennis is working his last day today!!

Oh, I have palpitations just thinking about being with a group of children!!!

To all those who do this.

I'm OK for short outings with a group of kids, but certainly not a whole day at the fair. They need 2 schoolbuses for every weekly fieldtrip, so that's WAY TOO MANY kids for me to want to deal with. I'm amazed by the people who do that job.

yup, already did last night I made the mistake of telling Jaide when I heard rather than waiting until today after she had slept well. Oops on my part, but she seems better this am.

We finally got our summer a few weeks ago. It took a long time and it doesn't stay very long, but those nice days have certainly been great!
