Hello everyone. I'm dumb. I was over at the other thread wondering why I couldn't quote anything :rolleyes1 The really bad thing is that I told myself when I got on that there might be a new thread :lmao:

Cheri, I'm sorry to hear about your accident. You made the local papers! Beaumont is really close to me. We have a lot of friends that live there. I hope you and Dylan aren't too shook up.

Holly, we are going to Laughlin for the river. So we'll be sitting in the water drinking sangria and burning! It is going to be 114 degrees.

There was other stuff to quote too but I can't remember. I was too busy trying to figure out why I couldn't quote anyone :lmao:

Laughlin California or Nevada?
looks like a LOT more river in Nevada

Jan :earsgirl:

I missed Jackie's accident...hope you are doing better. And Cheri - wow! That must have been really scary. Hope you and your nephew are fine now, and that your car can be saved.

Gaylean, I think I read something about frozen fruit, but not sure about the drink...do you know what is good? To put frozen fruit and REAL drinks....frozen rasberries with vodka and sprite....and it is colorful!

Wish I could see you guys at your meet. It sounds like fun.

Nan, any word on the counter-offer?

I'm hanging out at work, waiting for an owner meeting....might be one with fireworks so should be interestings....

Hope everyone else's jobs are settling down.

Woody, I agree about the jeep tour. Might want to pass. :rotfl:

haven't heard yet, so no news is no news. I figure they will just walk away. I think the buyer is an investor just lookng for a steal of a deal. I'm glad we don't have to take whatever is offered, but I'd like to have it done and closed to have it off my desk of to dos and care fors.

Hello everyone.Been lurking. Hope everyone is getting better. I just wanted to give a suggestion that might help someone that drives while tired. Years ago when I was working the graveyard shift and commuting 40 miles to work, I had many close calls while driving home at 7:30 AM. I am surprise that I didn't have an accident in the years that I worked that shift. One day I was talking to a long haul truck driver who suggested that I try eating sunflower seeds while I drive. The little concentration it takes to crack the shells keeps you from going into a daze. It work for me and I always stop to get a bag when I am driving long distances. I was munching on them on the long drive home after our cruise.

George

That sounds like a pretty good idea.....but I think I'll try PUMPKIN seeds....my favorite! :thumbsup2

Stopped by the colision center to get a couple more things out of my car...though they haven't officially checked it out yet, the guy said "I bet they call this totalled." Might start doing a little more on line car browsing....anybody got a Kia Sportage?

Called Cheri a few minutes ago...she was on her cell...I'll try her again later.

I think you guys would be SAFE with us now....we've had our turns at car wrecks!

Jackie - go check your email, I sent you reports from Consumer Reports.

:scared1:  OMG Cherie - how are you today???? I am SO thankful Arizona Angels was looking over you!!!!

Cheri, I'm so thankful Arizona Angels were looking over you and your nephew too  :grouphug: What a terrible experience to have, I can't even imagine. Years ago I remember my mom and I driving home from my aunt's house, only about 2 hrs away from home. I was probably around 10 at the time. My mom kept telling me to talk to her, she felt sleepy and was afraid she would fall asleep. Well, as soon as she said talk to me, do you think this "chatty Kathe" could find anything to say :confused3 I remember being frightened by the stress in her voice, if I had been a little older I would have insisted we pull over so she could get some rest. We did make it home okay, luckily. Sorry you had to learn this lesson the hard way, but I'm thankful you are both okay

Hi Peggy
Kathe

You know, I was wondering where all of you were.

Jackie,

I had a Hyundia Santa Fe, ( both Hyundia and Kia are made by Hyundia). The only problem I had with it was the cheap original equipment break pads that were used. They only lasted 30,000 miles. Once I put a good set of break pads on it they lasted to 100,000+ miles. Maintenance seems high on their vehicals and gas milage is not the best but they seem to be an OK car for the price. Keep in mind you get what you pay for. Nissan and Toyata make a better car but then you pay more $$ up front.

I came to expect being behind on our thread before our cruise, but I'm 12 pages behind once again, I haven't caught up on our last thread yet! How did this happen :confused3

Kathe

Note to self: No jeep tours with anyone from Arizona.

Woody

:lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Okay, didn't do the jeep tour in Aruba, too scary for me! I did do the snorkeling, then the zip-line and rappelling in PV...I had to ask my SIL to come over today to change the BBQ propane tank for me...way to scary for me to do myself  :lmao:

Yeah, but you've used up 2 of your 18 lives... :lmao:

I hope so! We're side by side 09/12/09. Should I be worried :scared1:

Kathe

Why??? Is Cherie on the other side???

Jackie...

I'm gonna tell you one thing the guys at one of my jobs tells me or did tell me when I bought my car...

GET A HONDA... CHANGE THE OIL... YOU CAN'T KILL THE THING!!!

They were right.

It may be a little more than you want to spend, but I'd look at it.

Cheri:
Glad to hear you were ok. Wow, that sounds scary. It has been said, but AZ people....please be careful!!! I'll be down there in a few weeks, maybe I won't rent a car! :goodvibes

Ian
I saw Wanted tonight. It was filmed in Chicago and there was alot of action on the trains. I was thinking about you and wondering if I could have found your house, had I know where it was.

Paul and I saw it the other night and thought the same thing.

interesting flick

Hi everyone! I didn't multiquote, but thanks to everyone for the good wishes! I really appreciate it! I'm more sore today than yesterday, but it's not too bad. My burn is a little more uncomfortable too, but again, not unbearable. I got my rental car today--it feels a little weird to drive, but I'm just being really careful. I fell asleep at 5 p.m. and slept for about 3 hrs. but now I can't get back to sleep--grrrrr!

Note to self: No jeep tours with anyone from Arizona.

Woody

very funny!;)

Thanks for the tip, George (and Jan, too). Both make sense. Hopefully I'll never have to use them!

It's been interesting how many people, when they hear what happened, tell me about their close calls. I suppose I've had my share, too, but hopefully everyone can use me as an example and not have to learn the hard way like I did.

Jackie - go check your email, I sent you reports from Consumer Reports.

Ian, would you send me the reports also? I may find myself in the market for a car as well!

Ditto! This car I wrecked was my 4th Accord. I love them!

I want to go back too!:cool1:

I have discovered that if I drink a beverage with electrolytes in it like GatorAid or Propel water I feel so great it is amazing.

I drank a lot of water on the cruise, but did not replentish the salts I was losing. I had a double whammy on the cruise of the heat and my hot flashes (sorry guys). I felt like the whole two weeks I was running on empty. Just did not have my normal get-up-and-go.

Since we got home I have added one of those electrolyte-balanced drinks per day on HOT days and I feel like a new person!

So, you see, I HAVE ::yes:: to go back since now I will have more energy and be mentally sharp!:thumbsup2

Jan :earsgirl:

Such a shame we can't all have another go at the cruise.:sad2:
