I think you said it very well.
A friend told me recently that a skort she bought for her granddaughter was vetoed by her son-in-law.

He said it could get the imagination of some guys going and they would label her as loose and/or treat her that way.

He's a guy, works with young guys so he should know.

Clothes with a little more fabric are cute.

I think I will remember what he said when taking a granddaughter shopping.

Jan :earsgirl:

I love them for Brooke because in her eyes she is still in a dress but you can't see her panties if she doesn't sit like a lady. She is only 6 and I assume that the girl you are talking about is older.

YEAH, WHATEVER

Did someone wake up on the wrong side of the bed? Why are you yelling at me so early in the morning? I know, you must miss me. Just think about next week. You won't even talk to me

Not yelling at YOU. And yes I do miss you, and jon and the kids. When are you coming to visit me again? And I could still talk to you next week, we are taking the laptop and the boss is paying for my internet. Have to stay in touch with work. The mess I will have when I get back might be worse if I don't handle things through email.

Well we can get a web cam and you can go to the bar and order us gin and tonics and we'll pretend like were at Rockin Bar D. Don't forget the candy cigarettes.

I don't feel like I am old and I expect a man to hold a door open for me. I'll wait for them to do so. I know for sure that my Jon would hold a door open for you or any other women, young or old. I'm old fashion but I will stand there and wait. If I go first I will hold the door open because it is polite. I don't think it is degrading to women to hold the door open and I'm not sure it is degrading to show a little skin either. That being said, I wouldn't wear a "too" short skirt either, of course I don't have the body for it! I've also said that I don't think it is horrible to let a man take care of you financially and a women take care of a man domestically! I also know some men that are GREAT stay-at-home dads, one being our PTA president, and that is wonderful to me. I would hope that man treats his women like a lady, even though she makes the money. This is just my opinion and I hope no one is mad about it!

I never said it was degrading. Some of the guys can't handle a women holding a door open for them, they won't enter before a women. Most of the time I find it amusing how ingrained some things become. It only bothers me at work when they are obviously treating the women differently. Like when my boss will apologize for swearing in front of me, but doesn't apologize to the guys that are in the room. That's annoying because he's more aware of dealing with a female, than just dealing with a person. Like Marilyn, I am often holding doors open for other people - that's just polite. I agree its not horrible to stay home and let the man bring home the paycheck. Everybody should do what works for them. The main thing is to treat everybody with respect and give everybody equal opportunity. I think if a woman wants to stay home, and it works for them, that's great! I also think its not the man's money then, its the couple's money. I hate  hearing a guy complain about how his wife is spending his money. In our house some things are divided up traditionally - I get laundry :laundy:, Ken is the spider killer. :lmao:

I love the whole shorts built into the skirt thing too! Its great for kids because they don't sit like ladies all the time, and they play and run and roll around. How old was this girl who's skort got vetoed? Would the dad have vetoed shorts that were that short? I like the old rule "stand up wth arms hanging down naturally, if your fingers come down further than your skirt, then the skirt is too short". Maybe I'll get more concerned when my girls are older, but for now I want them to learn the right clothes for the right occasion.:thumbsup2

I can speak for us both and say yes, it is worse than normal and very fed up making!!! We have had a couple of nice weeks recently, but of course now it is backendish as we say, so less and less chance of long hot summer days.

Ethan is our spider killer because he likes them. I agree about the money thing too. Jon doesn't even know anything about our bills or how much money we have. He likes it when I shop because that means he doesn't have to!

That sounds horrible. I'm glad Olivia had fun though.

Jan, Man, Indiana pumps out quite a few athletes don't they?
Apparently

Holly (and all the other parents out there interested), You may want to do what we're doing with Zoe. We put up 6 laminated maps: a map of the world and 5 continents, everytime we watch an event or someone wins or a country we recognize from the DCL trips we mark a letter on the country. Zoe finds the country and marks it with a special pen. Like A for Archery, C for Calvin our room host. It's really helping her memorize the continents, flags, languages and countries. And of course, if there is a disney character involved we have to mark that too. Mulan has been coming up a lot this week. She' better at geography than most of my 5th graders in my class at this point. You don't have to watch the Olympics to do it, just talk about the athletes goals and that they got there and got a medal. Jonathan and I have discovered quite a few countries that we've never heard of... and I teach a geography class!

This is a tremendous idea.

I have a client whose family has a world map and a North America map on the wall. Whenever I go on a trip I show him and any interested siblings where I am going. He also wants to know where my family members live. When they take a trip they talk about where they are going using the map.

She is 12.

But since he said this, I wonder about the thoughts of pedophiles.:scared1:

Personally I like culottes as they are longer and look like a skirt but provide coverage when one sits on the floor as I do to work with the babies for their therapy sessions.

I'm lucky that Molly (11) doesn't want to wear short skirts and won't even wear a tank top in public. She is just shy. Nice not to worry. I've seen lots of too short shorts this summer... :sad2:

Does the swearing not bother you?

We both throw our dirty clothes straight into the washer unless it's something that will run which we put on the dryer to wait until there is a load that color. Whoever puts in the last things to complete a load, starts it. Whoever gets to it first when it's done, puts it in the dryer. Whoever gets it out of the dryer hangs Tom's shirts and pants in the closet. If it's him, he leaves the folding for me because he cannot get things the right size to fit the drawer. :rotfl2: The OCD in me NEEDS neat drawers. :thumbsup2

I talk on the phone to total strangers and answer it when it rings no matter if Tom is home or not as he is on the phone so much for work that he hates answering it at home. I also take things back to stores. He is in charge of car repairs and troubleshooting computer problems. Works for us. ::yes::

Your guidelines make sense. I think that he would veto shorts shorter than you describe also. Shorts, however, are shorts. A skort LOOKS like a skirt.

And, it was not my rule or thought process or the Grandma's it was the DAD's, and it's his daughter who lives in his house and he works with young men who treat him like a young man and don't apologize for bad language or disrespectful comments when they make them (not unlike your boss not apologizing to the guys about swearing) so he is well aware of what they think when they see young girls as well as women.

Jan :earsgirl:

PS: Back when you said they laughed when you fell out of the chair and remembered when you did that before: I am glad they did not catch it on film and put it on TV.

And, you are right, Paris Hilton is looking for notoriety.

Congrats to them. :thumbsup2 Sounds like a fine size. Maybe the baby needed a couple extra days to gain a little weight.

That due date thing is more of a GUIDELINE anyway :confused3
