Well, despite it being forced fun, you look great in your hat! And the guy in the green shirt is hot, too bad he's married.

His name is Johnner, and no he's not married. He just likes jewelry. This is the second company he's reported to me at. He worked in my group at another company. He started working for me back in 2001!

Talk about someone being like a son!

Yup basement taps are dripping. They were already frozen earlier in the week. Some of the pipes run along the outside wall, and it isn't insulated very well, so when we ht this cold they freeze.:headache: We really should rip down the drywall and put insulation on the pipes.......

Do you have a way to get polyethelyne pipe covers on those pipes? :cold:

Holly good luck with the snow, I couldn't live in that, I'm too lazy

Me too... that's why Jay comes and digs us out... ;) Ok... so he only does so much...

How do we spell it here? I thought we spell it plough? That's how I spell it. Not that it's a word I write out very often.

SNOW PLOW!!!!!

:sad2: :sad2: :sad2: :sad2:

You only have ONE shovel? We have 4 of them, 2 for the front of the house, and 2 for the back.

A shovel for light and fluffy snow and a shovel for heavy wet snow.

I'm as picky with my snow shovels as I am with my kitchen gadgets...

Oh and I have a mini one that collapses for in my car (must go and put it back in... took it out when I packed for the lake last August... )

That is so true. Most sports have some risk or after effects. Gymnasts can end up with many injuries, and arthritis.

Back in the days when we had deep snow John made a long handled snow pusher which was basically a flat square of plywood attached to a handle!! I believe we could buy something similar, but John is thrifty!!!:lmao:

That's why you can afford to cruise and go to WDW... ;)

Yup, I have (had) one and Tyler had a kid-size one. I can't believe I can't find any in the stores. :headache:

:lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: Ohhhh Holly... did you EXPECT to find one today???

To make you smile.

Marilyn... love the shots... did you go a bit more blonde??? I like it...

Well, I went to the library to use a payphone. :headache: Tyler's dad had left me a message an hour ago and wondered why I didn't call him back, so I explained. He asked if he can drop Tyler off an hour late, which of course is fine. That gives me time to put up Christmas lights inside around the doorway and windows before he gets here. :thumbsup2

Holly... you decorate faster than anyone I know... I'm still looking at a blank tree...

He doesn't look that young! Very cute though.

:lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: Ohhhh Holly... did you EXPECT to find one today???

Well, yeah! I figured it's definitely something people need, so the stores would keep them in stock. ;) We'll look at Target tomorrow.

Holly... you decorate faster than anyone I know... I'm still looking at a blank tree...
Well, remember, the house is small, so it's quick! I put lights around 2 windows and 1 doorway, set up my little lighted village (I think it just has 6 buildings), and the nativity scene. Now we're completely decorated. :thumbsup2 Since I did it so much later than normal, we're definitely not taking it down New Year's Day, I want to enjoy it an extra week. :goodvibes

Uh oh, I shouldn't have looked out the window. My car is covered again. How the heck did that happen? It wasn't snowing when I looked outside an hour ago! Tyler will be excited in the morning to see MORE snow! He just can't get enough.

Weather report looks bad for tomorrow. Not a lot of accumulation, but 40 mph wind gusts, so it will be blowing around so much it will be hard to see. Not a good traveling day, so it's not looking good to go out of town to visit my stepbrother who's up from Tennessee. :guilty:

& Holly... I think he looks more like Sukie's side of the family... ;)

When we first went to CP, he was so embarassed, and after having his picture taken with one character, he changed places with me so he was on the inside and didn't get accosted by Tigger etc!!!:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Now he just goes along with it and I think really quite enjoys it. It is a lot of fun.

I still think John has a wild side... :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

Marilyn - love all the pictues! Thanks for posting them. I like the wreath w/ the cookies :rotfl:

Nan - cool pics w/ Wilson - neat cart!

Holly - hope you find your charger soon....glad you got home safely yesterday

Jan - Sophia is precious :lovestruc

I had dinner w/ my cousins from Argentina last night...may see them again tomorrow (not sure yet). I've been inside all day - doing nothing that I had planned to do - have had a doozy of a headache all day, not exactly a migraine but not fun.

Oh sweetie... may I suggest next time you get one of these that you curl up with a teddy bear with your head between 2 very soft pillows??? It works for me... well...it did this afternoon... :goodvibes

are you using Tyler's shovel, or did you find something more "adult"? :lmao:

Oh... wait until you see what Mom used to clear her car... I'll have to see if I can upload pictures...

It is now snowing again. I suppose that means I'll either be shoveling later or in the morning.

I bought another 50 lbs bag of ice melt today. I think we are prepared.

I am feeling a little housebound, and would like to go out, except there is no place to go.

You collect ice melt too??? I found the second 25 lb bag in the garage... next to the unopened fertilizer for the lawn... :confused3

That would be nice, wouldn't it? Don't worry, we'll be doing it again soon. :goodvibes

& hopefully with me!!!

A lot of American words look wrong to me, but very sensible. Our colour for instance - color is much more sensible.

That's ok... we misspell alot of them too...

I never thought you could train a dog to use a litter tray. They must be very clever dogs.

Clever and EVIL... ;)

Bed time here. It's late.

Night Marilyn... see you in the morning... probably... I should be done with the tree by then...

Every year my mom goes to bed and I decorate the tree... If I had kids I'd think it was some kind of tradition to wake up to a magically decorated tree... but I think I just call it insomnia and insanity... :lmao:

It's a tray made for dogs. I do not use dog litter though, I use surgical pads.

Don't you want to try some of that pine kitty litter? Maybe Tallulah would feel a bit more at home with a bit of the outdoors?

I thought you'd get a kick out of this. It was from our Christmas party cruise.

Me with my pups.

And no, I was not jolly. I despise forced fun.

Ahhhhh ... I see the Xmas hat from the Lithuanians has arrived... :santa:

I'm hoping to get mine done by new years... :rotfl:

Michelle, if I could send Tyler over, I would, and then your tree would get decorated quickly! I didn't have to put one single decoration on it this year. He's a good decorator...and didn't break a single ornament! :thumbsup2

Hey Ian...

Did they have a movie up on deck after your lunch??? ;)

That's good cause Aunt Marge's ornament has been around for 54 years... My mom is going to give it to my brother some year.. she wanted to this year until I reminded her that last year... the cat climbed the tree...

Well, HI Kelly! Thanks for the youtube link for Carousel of Progress, I watched the whole video, very cool!

Sorry for the repeat everybody else, but about Tyler's school, throughout this whole process and lots of meetings at school, we learned there's a school in his school district that can accommodate him better. His current school just isn't staffed or trained for kids like him and they just stopped trying to put him in the regular classroom because it was just setting him up for bad days. So he'd bounce from the resource (special ed) teacher to the school social worker's office, to the OT room, to the principal's office, depending on whose schedule would allow time with him. They each gave up time with other kids that they're supposed to meet regularly with, so those kids parents were getting upset too (understandably), but they were trying to do the best they could to keep him from situations that are known trouble spots for him. He wasn't eating lunch with the other kids, but had lunch in the social worker's office and got to invite a buddy every day to join him for lunch and their own private recess after the rest of the school went in from the playground (he eventually bumped up to 2 lunch buddies every day).

The new school is only a mile down the road from his current school and he'll be in what they call a basic classroom. His current school is only set up for learning disabilities in the resource room, but the new one is for EI and sensory too. There's the resource teacher and TWO parapros, and the maximum number of kids at one time is 7 in that room. Although he's been away from academics for a couple months, they will first work on behavior management because that's what's getting in the way of his learning, the behaviors that result from his sensory issues. They will focus on strategies he can learn to use when he's feeling overloaded instead of running out of the school or hurting whoever's closest or totally disrupting the class. At the same time, he will still be assigned to a regular 1st grade class, and they will put him in their as much as he can handle, which may not be much at first. In the beginning they will set up a schedule where he can choose 2 activities or academic areas that he enjoys and will send him to class for those (with a parapro) so he'll have a better chance of being successful. As things improve with him, they'll push him into the regular class more and more, depending on how much he can handle, but if he just can't succeed there, this school is set up for him to stay all day in the special ed room and do his work there if that's what works for him. The former school was only set up for 2 1/2 hours in special ed maximum per day.

Last Wednesday the staff from the new school came to his former school for a new IEP and to meet Tyler and talk with him a bit. Then the next day, his former special ed teacher and school social worker took him to the new school to see his new classroom and new special ed classroom. I'll find out from him today when he comes home how the tour went and what he thinks about it.

The staff at the new school attend training regularly on sensory issues, and went through a session where they have to maneuver through a room blindfolded with somebody brushing them with feathers or tapping them or making loud noises behind or next to them to startle them. The purpose was to show them how most of these kids feel in an environment that is normal to us. For some kids with sensory issues, the hum of the overhead lights irritates them, when most of us can't hear it. His new special ed teacher is certified in learning disabilities, and emotional impairment, AND all autism spectrum disorders, so she's dealt with just about every type of disorder and has experience and training. I almost cried with relief when I heard that.

He'll start January 5 when he goes back from Christmas break.

Thanks for posting the whole story. I had missed pieces too and it is so impressive how the school system is working together for Tyler's benefit!!! :cool1:

Well, they really care about him. The principal told him she loved him every day she saw him. The school social worker told me at our meeting last Wednesday that she's really going to miss him, and she was sincere because I saw tears welling up. His mentioned something about how surprised I was at how much they cared when he physically hurt all of them many times. The principal's response was that they don't look at behaviors as defining who a child is. The behavior is separate and they know who he really is. That made me teary! I'm just amazed that schools are able to care so much about one child when there are over 300 kids to deal with there.

Goodnight everybody! :cloud9:

Looks like I'll have to get up early enough to shovel before church. At least I hope we make it to church. We've missed 3 weeks because of either oversleeping or migraine. :guilty:

Night Holly...

Just think... by the time you get up... my tree will be decorated!!! (and I'll be looking at YOUR snow in MY driveway!!!):rotfl2:

Ok... I'm ditching...

Sorry Holly... my tree won't be done when you awaken... I am suddenly very tired and think I will follow what my body is telling me and go and get some sleep... what a concept...

For tomorrow is another day...

(yes Scarlett....:rotfl: )
