Ma Kettle to you ;)

did she really say her cards are done :scared1: ok, that's it I'm doing mine tomorrow.

no it isn't, is it :scared1: reel me in I might just believe it:rolleyes1

Yep, it's Ma Kettle Korbel ;) no but my parents were hippies. My name, if I were a boy, was going to be Jack Daniel. I think I would have preferred that one really. And we had a dog named Cheech and a turtle named Chong.

Love it a stoned dog and turtle :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Hi again folks!

Thanks for all the positive comments on the kitchen. It was quite the learning experience. Sorry V, we won't be heading to Florida to do yours! But hopefully we'll get to Florida eventually for another cruise ::yes::

Gaylean - the picture looked good on the screen. Have you tried printing it out the size of the Christmas card to see how it looks? You might like it when its smaller.

Today was a very successful shopping day. My hair dryer caught on fire today so I had to go shopping. I ended up getting most of my christmas shopping done. :cool1: I however forgot to get a new hair dryer. :lmao: I was going through my christmas boxes when I found 3 boxes of cute Disney Christmas cards!

Ok I have to go get PJ now, he is trying to climb the wall!! TTFN

I do that all the time. Head out looking to buy something and end up buying a bunch of other stuff and forget the original item. I've actually done that twice in the last week :headache:

HOLLY - sounds really positive for you and Tyler. I like Nan's suggestion to make it a big deal and take a picture on the first day!

NAN - when do you find out about Molly's play?

MARILYN - I'm sorry but I still haven't got Christmas cards done, so it won't make it to you in time. I'm sending other ones to Europe, so if you can PM me your address back home, I'd love to send one over :)

Okay, I've got to get to bed. I know I'm forgetting some stuff I was going to say, so I'll just leave it with ":cloud9: Goodnight everyone!"

Okay, now that it's all done, spill what did ya fight over????

The cast list is posted on Friday. It really isn't even about if Molly makes it or not. If she does then we have to decide if she wants to be in the show that excluded so many of her peers. If she didn't make it then the decission is made for us.

Paul, forever the person that can make compromise...is sending an email to our principal (& the district superintendent, of which he is friendly because of his past support and service on a past situtation) I'm just not sure that anything can and will be done to correct this problem this year. I've talked with a good friend that works at the school (we ran into each other in the egg aisle tonight at the supermarket) she told me lots of kids and parents are really upset, the sad thing is that there doesn't seem to be anyone that we can take this issue to for complaints. The play is put on by a producer (parent) and director that isn't compensated thru the school. It's a political drama over drama. If people had been clear and honest months ago that the program was changing I think I wouldn't feel so bad, but to find out the day before auditions that there is only "room" for 21 out of the 56 that tried out, when last year all kids that tried out were cast is just sad :sad2:

ok, so by Friday, I guess I will have some answer. I'm hoping that the director can see the light and add some singing trees or a pit choir. Not looking for speaking parts, just a minor spot on the stage at some point during the show.

I need some thread help please....

Nan - I wish you were on PS3. We could hang out at the virtual mall together, or go bowling. You could also come over to my harbor view studio apartment.

Then if Marilyn were on, we could go visit her in her virtual old folks home.

Good Morning all Bob Cratchits (and Jacob Marley, I mean Nan)!

I really don't have much to say, as really nothing is really happening.

Oh, I did almost pass out yesterday. I was checking Blue Cross Blue Shield Illinois Onlne, and saw that there was suddenly a 14K charge not processed, meaning potentially 14K I'd be on the hook for:scared1: :scared1: :scared1: :scared1:

But then it disappeared.

I also had to have one of the two boilers fixed (the tenants on on a separate boiler). Something was going on with one of them, so when the heat came on, it started buzzing very very loudly. Think old fashioned electric alarm clock buzzing.

It's in the back of the basement, but you could hear it (loud) on the first floor. Our bedroom is down there.

I woke up 3 times the other night because of it.

Soooooo ... I called our heating folks and they came out to fix it.

I came home and there was a bill for over $700 :scared1: . It needed a new gas valve and a new electronic switchy-thingie.

I mean it had to be done. It was waking us up and as it turns out there was an issue with a gas valve, but I had prepared myself for a couple of hundred bucks and not over $700.

Thrilling evening.

One the plus, and slightly ill planned side, my headset arrived for my PS3. So, now I can chat with my 20-something buddies when I play games on the weekend. Awesome man and way cool!

On an more amusing side, I continue to become a father figure and a role model, not only for my young pups, but for my 20-something gay gaming buddies. I suppose because I'm older than dirt, and because Sukie and I have been together for 21 years and are now married.

Can you imagine that there are young people out there that consider me of all people a role model? It boggles the imagination ...

Speaking of aging role models, yesterday my young pups at work were teasing each other.

One got a new haircut and the others were saying, "Dude, you look sooo old. You look like you're about 40!"

I piped in and said, "Might I point out that 40 is 13 years younger than I am? And might I also point out that I have not yet give all of you your annual performance reviews yet?"

Wow big day for you guys

I know that you are also sad about him not staying that this school. I know you really looked forward to him starting there last year, I remember. It sounds like you are making a good choice for him to get what he needs to suceed. Hats off to you for making the tough choices.

We moved Molly from one kinder to another and then to her final spot. Her principal gave me some really good advice about Kinder (i know you are now in 1st but I think it still applies) Kinder is about finding out what works for our kids, not everything works when you first try it and we are tied into our choices. Kinder is the year to test and try and find out what works and move forward.

I hope that Tyler will have a sucessful transistion into his new school. I suggest you treat his first day like a first day of school all over again. Make it special for him. Take the pictures and everything. Please share how it goes.
I'm only sad about him being sad about leaving his friends. But, realisitically, he hasn't seen many kids in the past month because he's just not in the regular classroom. They don't even send him because they know it's not the right environment for him, and why set him up for trouble.

I love your suggestions about his first day at the new school and will definitely do. Might even buy him a new outfit too. He's already getting a new lunchbox for Christmas, so that will help too. :thumbsup2

It is blurry but I was hoping they would actually use it as a snap shot if I took a picture of it but Jon said it would be the same if we scanned it so maybe we won't be able to use it
You can use it. They usually don't ask, but you can download an authorization form from DCL somewhere (I did it one time, but can't remember where I got it) for copying the photo.

Also, once you scan it, you can crop the Disney stuff off. That's what I did to mine. You'll see it in a couple days.

Holly... Good move for both you and Tyler... He'll do good... they have the resources and at least he can still see his friends...
I also told him we can stop at his old school every day after I pick him up so he can visit anybody who's still around. The teachers of course will still be there and some of the kids might even still be there if their parents haven't picked up yet. :thumbsup2

Another planning thing here... I'm supposed to go to do the Disney Institute either Feb or May depending on the work schedule...(I talked the guys into sending me a long time ago...;) ) So if it works out... we may get our visit in after all (will the family mind if I borrow you for an hour or so???)

:cool1: Of course I can be borrowed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:rotfl2: That would be great.

I broke the news to Tyler today about moving to a different school. I received official word today which school (the one we toured and wanted), so it was time to tell him. He cried, sobbing, because he says he'll never see Corey again. Corey is one of his best friends in school. I assured him that doesn't have to happen, that I'd write a note for his teacher to send home with Corey, explaining to his parents that Tyler's leaving the school but wants to stay in touch, and hope they'll call me to set up a time for the boys to get together soon. I told Tyler I'll do the same for any other friends he wants to still see. He named 2 more boys and one girl. Another boy we see outside of school already because they've been friends since daycare, and another girl we also already get together with frequently because she moved to a different school a while back, so they wanted to stay in touch.

So once he realized he can see those friends just the same way we get together with other friends already, he wasn't so sad. I did my best to explain to him why this is happening. I told him he knows how much everybody at his current school loves him and wants him to do well, he agreed. I told him that not everybody learns in the same way, our brains are all different. I told him he learns differently than I did, I learn differently than my mom did, etc. I told him he's just as smart as the other kids, but just learns in a different way and that the teachers at his current school only know how to teach one way, but the teachers at his new school have gone to school to learn how to teach things many different ways so that everybody who learns differently can learn in their own way.

I told him they're also going to teach him different tools to use when he gets frustrated or overwhelmed instead of ripping up his paper when he can't seem to get his hand to write correctly. I told him he's just as smart as the other kids, but it's sort of stuck in his brain, sort of locked in there, and he has trouble getting it out onto his schoolwork papers, and the teachers at the new school will try to find the key to unlock the gate and let it all come out. He seemed to get it and then he started telling me things about the new school that are better than his current school (remember, he went to this school all summer for the summer child care program, so he's familiar with it a little, just not with the teachers). I told him that's a great attitude to have, trying to think of good things about what's happening.

He's such a great kid. Went from tears and sadness to optimistic in about 15 minutes.

You did well there Holly and that will help Tyler so much with changing schools.

I think this will be our last day of internet access. Unless John will fork out the $9.99 for one day's access in a few days. Going to miss popping in.

V, I'm thinking if you can join us for breakfast, either contact Monica to add to our ressie(she made it), or make your own and we can link up. Otherwise we will be at the Beach club.(Marilyn Mitchell). I don't have my phone on here.

Aaargh.

morning guys!

How is everyone?

Well I think we may be planning a cruise! For the cost of what we would spend on the darn BSC game we could go on a 7 night cruise in May and also probably spend a budget weekend in WDW. Amazing isn't it?

We talked last night and I am upset that as a season ticket holder we can't get tickets through the school simply becasue we don't donate enough money. $175 is face value and these are going for $1k -$1500 a pair!!! Yikes!!! That doesn't include all the extras we'd spend!

Nan - sorry to hear about the play, that stinks that they don't have lots of the side parts....I know we always had plays that included lots of people.

S - Love the kitchen! I wish we could redo ours!!

Is everyone ready for the holidays? I have not bought ONE thing!!! Not one!!!

HI V

We are on the September 12, 2009 Tortola cruise with our kids and the granddaughter who is due next week.

We are buying no presents. We will leave Christmas day, drive 11 hours to Pennsylvania and spend the week with our kids and meet the soon-to-arrive-granddaughter :grouphug: We will write the kids each a check and come home shortly after New Years. The trip is our present to each other and the checks are our presents to the kids.

Just sharing a few pictures before I forget again. ;) These are from last week when Tyler tried to build his first snowman of the season. Unfortunately, we were too busy with appointments and stuff when the snow was right for packing. By the time we had a free day, the snow was just powder, so no snowman. He compromised though. Tyler said, "I KNOW! I can still make a snowman, watch!" And he created flat snowman! :thumbsup2
