I don't know where I'm at but I saw Jan comment on this so I decided to start here :confused3 All I have to say is that society makes people feel guilty about not contributing financially to the household. I know a few women that can manage everything in the house and at work and still be happy but I think it stresses most of us out. I know when I was stressed out like that, I wasn't a good wife, house cleaner, cook or any thing I needed to be. Don't feel bad, especially because it sounds like Paul agrees that you are better at home. Again, I'm not saying it is wrong for women to work. I'm just saying it is wrong for me to work full time because I don't handle all that stress well. Everyone is different and people just need to stop judging other people for the choices they make.

Very well said. :thumbsup2:

This is what women's liberation SHOULD be--freedom to make our own choices.

What it has become is a one-size-fits-all prescription for women. They try to tell us women are only "fulfilled" when doing the same work as men. They do not recognize making a house a home or volunteer work as equally valid. So they try to "guilt" us into compliance.

You are making your own way--the way that works for you and your family. So is Nan. That path can look different at different ages and that should be OK too.

If it's not OK with society--it will be OK with us here ::yes::

But most importantly it needs to be OK with each family.

Popping in 2x in 1 week...a record for me! ;) Michelle just gets me on here everytime as we were "discussing" Ebay and V on facebook!

I have not read everything but noticed some people going through some losses and rough times so wanted to send out :grouphug: :grouphug: :grouphug: It seems that 2008 has been a rough year for many. Personally I am very excited for 09 and the great things that are ahead for me (and everyone!).

Michelle....wanted to thank you for the card list....and let everyone know I am going to do my best to get cards out this year, but am not promising anything! Somedays it is all I can do to make it through the day at work and get the kids throught their homework before I crash.

Happy Hump Day!

Ok, I am dense, I didn't get this one. :)

I want to offer my condolences to Nan and to Monica's Will and Mick, I am so sorry.

They finally got the stone for my husband's grave set up last week. I went over there on Friday and put some pretty Christmas flowers in the vases. I cried and cried. I was glad to have the stone up, I felt like it was disrespectful to not have one there. But, at the same time, it was very final. I don't know how to describe it. The holidays would be very tough if we were staying home.

Sorry to be "Debbie Downer". I try to keep up with the thread but things just heat up as I am going to bed. There are too many threads in the morning, I don't have time to read them all.
:grouphug::grouphug::grouphug:
If you can't be "real" here, what good are we? No problem!! Unload whwnever you need or want to !

Tammy,

Thanks. Everything Sukie had done was in-network, and some of the procedures even had prior approval. They did pay a very huge chunk of it, but when we are talking about medical bills, the parts that the insurance is currently sitting on can still be a very sizable proportion, much larger than we could easily absorb.

I really wish I wasn't such a dolt and understood these things better, but I find it all so confusing.

I am overwhelmed by the endless stream of paper that seems to arrive and trying to tie it back to paid claims.

I told Sukie that we're just going to start waiting for delinquent notices to show up and then pay them. At least the dust will have settled.

I have such a hard time understanding all the paper and the multiple billers. I'm staggered by the inefficiency. I'm sure that all of this is probably a major contributor to the inflated costs.

I'd still fight it... lots of time the Drs. will charge alot more because they dont' get enough reimbursement from the Ins co's... Usually they should accept what is paid them... Give it a try...

Smart **s. But even more surprising is that you pay attention to what I say.

We eagerly await your wisdom... :worship: :worship: :worship:

I pay attention to what you and most people say. I just don't always know how to comment every time. Plus, I worry that people don't get that I am joking a lot of the time. I think you are very funny.

G... give you some wine and some time with Bubba and V and you are all quite entertaining...

I used to do a lot of needlepoint, and my aunt requested a needlepoint toilet seat cover for her bathroom toilet! That was about 20 years ago, when I lived in Sterling, and I was earthmother, gardener, crafter, sewer, homecanner, and homeschooler.

I have really changed! :rolleyes1

We send away for our toilet seats now...

Oh, dear, I am talking to myself! Oh,well, all of you can read my posts tomorrow! Lucky you!

Anyway, I NEED ADVICE!!!!!

Chuck just popped his head in here, and asked me what we are going to buy Michael for Christmas! Darned if I know! I told him I plan to get this really neat set of Rubbermaid storage dishes with lids at BJ"s wholesale club. WOWEE KAZOWEE! Isn't that exciting?"

What does a parent buy for a 31 year old son who has his own apartment? We would never buy him clothes (after all what do we know?)
We can't buy him any video games.....he hardly has time for that anyway.
Also he already got himself Guitar Hero and the set of drums that goes with it.

ANYBODY got any ideas? Please?

Give him a nice gift card to American Express (you can find these at stores and banks...) and then wrap up alot of little things like candy and such so he has lots to open... I do that with my nephew who is in college...

Just a quick pop in. Got the Christmas card list - thanks Michelle!!!!

Just to remind anybody who is thinking of sending us a card, we don't actually live at the Saratoga Springs Resort!!:lmao: :lmao: :lmao: We are only there until next Thursday, 12th December.

You don't??? & here I thought you only lived 17 miles north of me... (that's where the REAL SS is...)

Hey ya'll just a quick correction for the christmas card list. Matt and I live in TN NOT TX. I don't know that there is a Knoxville, Texas but just in case. :thumbsup2

Got it Jill... I emailed everyone with the correction... sorry.. I'm used to typing TX for my sisters address...

Isn't amazing how we STILL can't get V off of Ebay???

You are welcome Kaylee and just do your best... that's what we all do...

Hope your feeling good...

Hi from wdw! Today we slept till 10:30 so got quite a late start. Went to MK and had a great day...hardly any lines! Walked on to space mt. Got to ride just about everything we wanted and got to see Wishes. The castle is really beautiful w/the Xmas lights. Today was great weather-wise and not really cold tonight. Only bummer of the day was waiting over an hour for our bus back here! I felt so sorry for the parents of young kids. Tomorrow we`re seeing the Candlelight Proc. w/ dinner at the Chinese rest. I just can`t get over how HUGE this place is! It`s like going to a foreign country! Better get some sleep now so I can wake up at a more reasonable time tomorrow. ;-)

Cheri - glad to hear you're having a great time.

Well yesterday was quite the busy day trying to get Tom all settled in. Despite all of our best efforts, we accomplished nothing. The notary person was out sick so we have to go back tonight. That means no school for Tom again today. The second car broke down so I don't have a ride at the moment. That means that I couldn't take Tom to the mall to fill out job applications. It'll just take a little longer, but we'll get there.

I'm planning on watching the tree lighting ceremony at Rockefeller Center today (I fell asleep on it last night but recorded it.) while I'm filling out my Christmas cards.....because I got this great looking list of all my friends addresses from one very special little elf. Hopefully I'll be able to get that done with Tom around today. We'll see what else develops.:hippie:

Hello Deb

I was out all day yesterday as I went to Glasgow with my friends to meet another friends suppose 15 ladies but 3 never turn up!!

We went along to had the Xmas Lunch together and it was so much fun:santa: As it was a bit early for Xmas but only one way to get together.

My friends had a good laugh and I took the photos of it.

Got home about 9 pm last night and the weather was absolutely freezing brrzzzzzzz, no snowing as all melt but last nigth it was icing on pavement:scared1:

I saw on the news of Xmas tree at New York, oh it is lovely, shame that we will miss it next year never mind.

Finally skyman came now as we get new sky plus so I am waiting until he finish then I am off to my work for shopping.

Have a nice day

Good Morning All!

I am so looking forward to Christmas, just so I can get some days off.

My company is closing down at 1:00 PM on Christmas eve and they are now giving us the day after Christmas off. Same thing with New Years.

Two long weekends with no cooking!

It is rather brisk here in Chicago this morning. It is now 14F and supposed to warm up to 26F.

It should be rather bracing at the bus stop this morning.

My job continues to get in the way of my job. I have still not written performance reviews.

Of course I was supposed to have done that this past weekend, but NONE of my pups followed instructions and so what they handed to me was not ready for me do to my part. Not the brightest move with one's performance evaluation.

I'm also super busy with WW. On Sunday (the first day of the WW week), we launch our new 2009 program. I am now trying to learn all the new materials and the COMPLETELY new getting started session.

I sit on the bus, watching the training video on my iPod every morning.

I'd rather be snoozing.

Well I got through my first full day with Tom in the house and I did NOT smoke a cigarette. YEAH!!!!!

Thanks Jan.....one day at a time.....I had forgotten, thanks for the reminder. It works.:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

Hi Deborah, I'm so glad you had a fun night out with the girls. It's nice to get together and laugh.

Enjoy your shopping trip today. What is the new sky plus??? I'm not familiar with the skyman. It must be a local term for something. Could you explain please.

John has been having a lot of extremely stressful days on his job too. I wish he was off before and after the holiday. He'll have Thursday off on the 25th and that's it. It always makes me mad that some jobs stay open all day and don't give you a half day of work on Christmas eve. In our house, we celebrate the holiday on Christmas eve and it's always hard to do after working a full day.

I'm glad you'll have some time off to recouperate Ian, you'll need it. Especially with WW being more demanding than usual for you. Do you and Sukie have any special plans for your two long weekends off? How do you usually celebrate the New Year?

Morning. Quick hi. Having breakfast with Ann andAlbert then going shopping.:) :) :)

Eating at the Cali Grill tonight so hope my skirt fits!

I just discovered a new wonderful show! Well, I don't know if it's new, but it's new to me: The Secret Millionaire. It's so inspiring and will make most of you cry. I wish to someday have the opportunity that these giving people have. I just watched 2 hours in a row and loved it! I can't wait to tell Tyler about it because I have a feeling it will inspire him to do something similar, but of course on a much smaller scale.

Is this the UK programme or a US one?We have enjoyed watching a few of them and yes it is a very moving programme.

One more day to better health Deb!!!:thumbsup2 You're showing them.:woohoo:

I hope in my skimming I don't miss anything important.

Hi Marilyn, say hi to Anne and Albert for us. Glad you're having such a fun time. Tell us all about what you eat tonight at the California Grill. I hope you get a seat near the window and get to watch the fireworks over the castle. Cheri said it looks beautiful all dressed up in Christmas lights. I can't wait to see her pictures.

I saw a commercial about the secret millionaire. Last night was the 2 hour season premiere. I recorded it and didn't see it yet, but from what everyone is saying on here....I can't wait to watch it.

Good Morning.

Ian, would you say that long time members should stay for the getting started part again. Is it that new? I'm really excited about this change. I have heard a couple of exciting things from some folks on the WW thread here. Some leaders have let a few things out, most likely as teasers.
