I'm read through and am all caught up! Its been busy and I'm almost back to having a kitchen again. :cool1: All the cabinets are in, just need to put the doors on the sink cabinet, but Ken'll do that after the counters and sink are installed. I ordered countertops today and they might get installed next Friday. Last night I actually cooked dinner on the new stove and that was so exciting. I don't particularly like cooking, but it was so nice to be able to do so.

Gaylean - did Brooke notice there were no pictures of her? Some of our relatives don't do a good job of putting pictures up either. When we first had kids I used to go to Sears and get the pictures done and order them for everybody, but now I'm not. If they don't put them up, I'm not bothering to waste my money!

Monica - looks like you had a great trip!

Connie - sorry to see that Patrick hurt his foot/ankle, but glad to hear its getting better

Marilyn - I hope you don't actually need any of your cold weather clothes you're packing. :goodvibes

Holly/Michelle - I like the idea of Christmas cards. I'll pm our address. Then I'll actually have to go buy some Christmas cards :)

Ian - thanks for the explanation of Channukah! Enjoy your cooking and your feast!

Crap, now I'm out of time and must get back to work! Hi to everybody else!

Have a wonderful Thanksgiving Marie!

:lmao: :lmao:

My recipe for bourbon sweet potatoes is to put the sweet potatoes in a dish, cover with 2 cups of light brown sugar, cut up a stick of butter then slide in the oven. Then, while they are cooking, drink a cup and a quarter of bourbon. After they cook, they taste great. Well, most everything tastes great after that. ;)

Tammy, you're quite the card today!:rotfl:

I've made the stuffing and celery cheese, just taking a little break before I tackle the pecan pie. Like Jackie said, it's rainy, cool and overcast today--perfect TG fall weather. Better get back to the kitchen...

Have a great day, everyone!

BTW, I read the multi-quotes (just so you know, Marilyn!):thumbsup2

Guess what......PEG'S COOKING. Jose's 'vote' won out and we're having a bird, mashed potatoes, GREEN BEAN CASSEROLE, cranberry sauce with can wrinkles and a pie ordered from Village Inn. There was still a debate going on about WHAT pie when I got off the phone with Peg last night.

Are you then going to admire the painting on black velvet of dogs playing poker?

(Wear long pants. It hurts when you stick to the slip covers).

Ian, got my 2009 Thanksgiving vacation approved...that is to say, my team-mate agreed to my plan. Management just signs off on it once the two of us have worked out 'coverage'.

ok...time to hit the shower...see you all tonight!

.

This is WONDERFUL news. Sukie was polishing the silver and I told him we were going to have lots of guests next year and the table would have to be moved into the living room.

It will be just about time for another humongous Thanksgiving.

Meanwhile, back at Eastwood Manor ...

I am still busy cooking.

The Leek, Cranberry and Sausage stuffing is partially made. The sausage and eggs go in tomorrow, however before the sausage go in, some gets separated off to be baked separately for Sukie.

The gravy base has been made (the dogs enjoyed what I could cut off the sauteed turkey necks).

The potato gratin with Gruyere and creme fraiche is in the oven as I write. The entire house smells of baking cheese.

After that comes out of the oven, Hisselfness and I are taking a little walk to the supermarket. Then it's back to make the mashed potatoes and the pumpkin bread puddings and then I'm done ... for today.

If you can believe it, we have nothing to eat in the house for dinner tonight. I'm getting Mexican take out.

Cheri,

I sent you a little gift. Check your email.

At least you're baking your pecan pie.

I know that one of our guests is going to be bringing a supermarket pumpkin pie tomorrow. He does every year. He brings the damn pie and then steals all of the left over turkey before I can get into the kitchen.

Last year, I really wanted a turkey sandwich the day after and there was absolutely no left overs.

Where is Nan when I need her to administer slap therapy, or at least eat the damn pie?

Shannon,

Did you get all new appliances? What kind of stove?

When we redid the kitchen, we put the old fridge in the basement. It was perfectly good. I couldn't see getting rid of it. I'm very glad we held on to it. We actually use both refrigerators.

That in itself is a bit scary consider there are only two of us.

Am I the only person here flapping their gums? Where is everyone?

Someone aside from me had better post something r e a l soon or there is going to be trouble.

Try this on your turkey thief!

That is very low behaviour stealing your left over turkey! Next year it will all be eaten up no doubt!!!:rotfl2:

Because we eat Christmas Dinner at one of our children's houses we never have any left over turkey either, so this year I am going to do a mini Christmas dinner just for us!! I even have a small christmas pudding I made.

So, he disappears now then.

No I'm still here. I had to pull the gratin out of the oven. I also decided to amuse myself by taking photos.

So, in an act of desperation, here is one of the dogs:

OK, now that the potatoes are out of the oven, I can take a little break.

Heading out to the supermarket.

How exciting is that?
