Now I want to come over and watch TV with you! I'll bring the popcorn!

This was our kitchen a few days AFTER our Thanksgiving. This looks good compared to what it was on Thanksgiving!

Hanging the microwave tonight but it is frustrating the hell out of me so taking a break from it. Gotta walk away some times - just like Kenny Rogers sang. "Know when to walk away, know when to run!" And here I thought it was a song about gambling, not kitchen renos!

I used to like you ... Besides, like I am going to have any say in the curtains....

Actually... I was thinking of doing my kitchen over... I'm just testing the waters with YOU guys!!! :goodvibes :goodvibes

It does look very good... and I'm getting some ideas...

I am watching the news and seem bad as lots of people lost their home as 58 percent up repossesions their house.

very scarey now :scared1: :scared1:

Honda showshop had been shut down and lots of people angry *** they paid deposit for new car:scared1: :scared1:

I agree. It's VERY scary. 3 families on my street have lost their homes. Very sad. The family who lost their home next to me lived there for 25 years. Their house is on an online auction now, bidding starts at $12,000.00 (not sure how much that is for you Deborah) and it's probably a $60,000.00 house. So sad.

Hurrah, the weekend is here.

Today turned out to be an extremely calm and quiet day. The project from hell is near complete! We had our final software delivery (otherwise known as the golden build) and everything passed!

The amazing thing is that in theory, we are now ready to go to production ... 1 week ahead of schedule!

It also means that people can take the vacation days next week that they had planned, and everyone can have a relaxing week instead of the usual stress.

When I got back to work after the wedding (it was around September 8th) my boss asked me to "get my arms around" the project.

At that point, the team thought it would be a miracle if we could deliver by the end of February which would be 2 months late.

So, for us to be ready a week ahead of schedule is remarkable. A testament to the team.

Am I a bully or what? I really did bully people on this one, most of the time having folks PO's and upset with me. But, it paid off.

On another note, I was feeling awful today. Not sure if I have something flu-like or whether these are side effects from the new meds my neurologist put me on.

My muscles ached today, and my joints hurt. I have not eaten anything since the packet of oatmeal I had at 5:30 AM.

I also had a headache today. I don't get headaches. I've only had one in my life which believe it or not was in about 1968, so I don't know what's up.

I called the neurologist's office. A nurse phoned me back and told me to stay on the meds. The neurologist phoned the time I left my desk. He then called the house, and told Sukie he would call me in the morning.

I probably won't be home in the morning, because we have to go to the green grocer, the supermarket, and pick up the heritage turkey I reserved at a farmers market.

I'll have to see how I feel tomorrow.

I was going to go out tonight and try to get some of the shopping done this evening, but have instead decided to stay in and rest.
Ian, great job finishing the job a week early!   I hope you're able to rest this weekend and feel better. I hope you're not getting sick! Take care of yourself.

Deb- I think it is great what you are doing for Tom. It will change your way of living but he will be very grateful to you forever.

Holly- I hope things get better with Tyler. My mom's neighbor (the one that went with us last weekend) son has what Tyler has. He is having a tough time right now too. THey said the most helpful thing for him has been Occupational Therapy since it taought her how to deal with him too. He also has tutors that the school pays for, maybe you could look into something like that to help him stay caught up.

Hi to everyone else! It has been a rough week and I am glad its over.
Thanks Jill. I'm sure he'll need a tutor at some point, but first I want to see how well he catches up in the new classroom.

Wow, you've come a long way since then! Can't wait to see it finished! :goodvibes

Hey Ken...

Just wanted to let you know that mom and I are "discussing" floors - she likes the white tile and I want something a bit more natural... and we have a "galley" kitchen with a half wall overlooking my dining room (I'm in a townhouse...) Actually I hate the kitchen and I'd like to move, but the houses I like don't sell very often (they are nearby and they are new and the people just don't want to leave...yet...;) ) so for the time being, I'm going over paint colors... MANY paint color chips are on the walls... we can't decide... (and we thought the floors were a problem... :sad2: ) But I sort of have to make it a whole package type of thing because my living room is also open to it all... It does overlook my very nice wooded backyard (and mom want's to keep the deck but I want to change to a patio...)

Oh and don't even MENTION the bathrooms... :headache: (I don't like those bathtub plasticy fiberglass tub thingies...) I want to put in a spa tub - no room and with my luck I will install it and it will be so heavy that it will crash down into the kitchen that I want to change...

I need to buy a new house or else I'll spend a ton rebuilding this one...

That's why I'm interested in watching you guys... We can't decide on anything (except that we HATE the cream/beige (I call it Masking Tape brown) paint that they did the entire house in)

So stay tuned... this could be interesting...

I should just be like my father... every time my mother went away to see her parents, he'd rip out another room and do it over... NOT in my moms plans... (but they DID use the bathtub for the beer and wine at the neighborhood party that year (since it was STILL on my front yard...)

I come on to see what everyone is doing on Friday night and I see pictures of kitchens

So, is it the green beans that are a problem, or what is done to them in turning them into a casserole?

We love green beans. To be honest we like all veggies I think.

We are always surprised with the lack of veg with meals in the US, even though the shops have great ones for sale.

I posted a recipe :confused3 It is green beans with stuff in it. We eat veggies everyday but their was a time when we didn't. We couldn't afford it all and it was more important to drink and eat snacks popcorn::

I love green bean casserole....then again, I love most veggies....even brussel sprouts.....just not zucchini.

Being Greek, we put lemon on all green veggies including green beans. Add a little butter, lemon, garlic and onion powder and veggies are delicious.

I love zucchini and squash especially summer :lovestruc

It is the notion of green bean casserole and the connotations of it. It would go well with plastic slip covers, shag carpeting and a painting on black velvet of dogs playing poker.

Well so would beer nuts and poker chips but I like those too!

Funny you should mention this...

My cousin who did the electrical work for us (certified electrician), everytime he came over, kept saying "You know house renovations are the #2 reason for divorce".

Part of the reason why it has taken so long is because we talk about EVERYTHING. Not a decision was made that we both didn't agree to.

Also, one reason why I think there haven't been many contentious issues between the two of us, is because we have always had the idea that we are doing this to sell it. So it isn't necessarily what we would want in a kitchen, but with the idea of how someone else would want it.

Probably the biggest issue for us came in September/October when I had to be away from home so much to work on our Federal election. But Shannon knew that was important to me and hopefully our future so she lived through it.

But you should see her now when she sees the progress - she's as giddy as a school girl when she just sits back and looks at the kitchen. Which of course, makes it worthwhile for me.

It's the rum ;)

okay I'm starting to think you only like that pink wig because it freaks me out so much!!!

And yes that guy in a pink wig might just send me to a looney bin.

It's like CLOWNS!!!! THEY ARE EVIL

Clowns frighten me.

from:
http://www.way2hope.org/Illnesses/coulrophobia-fear-clowns.htm

Coulrophobia is very common...one of the top 10 most common specific phobias. Symptoms can range from high anxiety to outright panic attacks around people in clown outfits or other bizarre attire and make-up...even Santa Claus.

You ARE up late this time ;)
Yup. My mom just left a couple hours ago to drive back home, so I was just unwinding with a couple beers. Am about to fall asleep though, so I'm headed to bed soon.

So Tyler's dad had to pick him up from school at 9:30 yesterday and he's furious, saying how the school is doing nothing to help Tyler, blah, blah, blah. But actually, the school has bent over backwards doing everything they possibly can to keep Tyler there. Reality is they don't have the training or capabilities to deal with his needs, so I'm going to agree to the school down the road that has the classroom for kids like him. His dad will disagree, so I'll have a huge stressful battle over that. He says it's not necessary to do this, so he wants to just pull Tyler out and put him in a completely different school district because he seems to think Tyler's doing these things on purpose! :headache: :confused3

I swear, that man's going to give me a heart attack.

We have a new 5 year old that likes to pee in front of kids all the time. He pulls his pants down and pees where he is at. Don't be mad, Holly, but we approved for him to have an aide follow him around. She takes him to the bathroom every time he pulls his pants down and when she takes him to the bathroom he says "I don't have to go now". Then five minutes later he pulls his pants down again
