We LOVE Spoodles!! I stay at Boardwalk just to be close!!

I hope to try several 'new to me' restaurants in September, as well as visit an old favorite that I've not been to in SEVERAL visits...50's Prime Time Cafe. :thumbsup2

Deb, The "kid" who exactly are his parents? I think you said he works....could NOT have someone like him living in my home.....You must be an angel....

I guess it will sound warm to some of you...but still cold for us in DC....it is 13 degrees now...down to 1 degree tonight. Then by Christmas there is a warming trend. The forecast says Christmas will be 50 degrees!!

Ya know Holly, that was the worst part. We had such a nice time at Tristan's graduation and then we came home to a mess. We can't trust him to make the right decisions if there's snow on the ground. How foolish is that. We live with snow every winter and we've been in this house for nine years. This is nothing new.

When they put the brake fluid into the truck today they found a leak in the lines. The truck can't be driven at all until it's fixed and we have lots of snow coming our way. If we don't have the truck, then we have to walk up the driveway in the snow. It's aweful. We have to get it fixed immediately and we don't need the additional expense on top of already having to buy another car right now.

It's Christmas and we were just out of town. Also we have Tom here now. It's costing us more money until he gets set up with his job and can help buy some groceries, he eats a lot and we pay for his lunches at school and drive him all over the place to friends and the mall, etc., and the lawyer expense. So we have had many additional expenses this month. The budget is about to bust! We don't get Christmas bonuses. We have to suck it in and bite the bullet.
 Deb, I don't know how you manage to stay sane. I think all of that would push me off the deep end.

The kid is John's son and my stepson. What can you do when it's your own kid??? He's not like his father at all. He's so much like his mother and there's nothing we can do about it. We have to accept him the way he is. He's not capable of living on his own. He wants to live with us. We deal.:confused3

I had a great weekend!!

Saturday, I packed the gifts I had bought in my car and went to my best friends house and we spent 6 hours wrapping and talking...seemed like 2 minutes!! I do not like this chore much and neither does she, so we decided to do it together. We did beautiful wrapping giving each gift special treatment. It made me so happy to enjoy this instead of looking at it as a chore.

Saturday night this same friend and our husbands went out to dinner and them to local theatre to see Christmas Carol. Several of the actors have worked with DH in his theatre. The kid who was the main focus of the 20/20 (Nick...his mom grounded him for those of you who watched it) was there and he gave me a great big hug. I think that is better than any old gift!!

Then today, I took the girls (Annie and Gretchen) to the John F Kennedy Center for the Preforming Arts downtown. We saw Legally Blonde. It was wonderful.....we had a great time.....we had so much fun!!

Not one load of laundry got done this weekend....so many dirty clothes. I may not go to work in the morning to try and catch up some.

I think that's where John is at. I'm a very positive person and I have a lot of faith. I know that everything happens for a reason and try to just take it as a learning experience and move on. You find a wealth of energy when it comes to family and kids. You do what you must do. John was there for me when it came to helping my mom and ray these past few years. I will always be there for him with his kids and grandkids. We're in this thing together, no matter what, good or bad, sickness or health, for richer or poorer. You get the whole enchalada, not just one person when you make a committment and you do it for life and all that it entails. That's true love.

:wave2: Off to look at Christmas lights in the neighborhood that goes all out. Disneyland was fun yesterday. Lurk constantly so keep the chit chat coming!!! Pretty slow with out my cupcake on here!!!(HI Gay!!!). Maybe V will post pics of our weekend.

I'm sure we'd all love to see pics! I was wondering where you all were. How fun! :goodvibes

Where is his mom...?? Does he work??

His mom lives in Ohio. He doesn't want to live with her. He chose to live with his dad once he was old enough. Even though, he's very close to his mom and adores her. Go figure.

He works at the University with John. He is also an electrican. John got him the job at the University where you have job security. So he's ok at work.

:hippie:

Well, Sounds like half of the battle is already won!! Hopefully, he helps with expenses and John has someone to do that longggggggggg commute with!!

Hi Bubba....enjoy looking at all the Christmas lights and decorations in the neighborhood. Glad you had fun at DL. So happy that you're still lurking with all of us. We miss you and V and GayGay. We love when you pop on to join us. Tell V hi and please post some pictures for us to see DL all decorated for Christmas. :cool1:

This will make you guys laugh. I have 30 kids in my basement right now. They are Daniel's High School friends. They are all 19 and 20 years old. They have a huge poker match going on down there. Daniel estimates it will go on till 5 in the morning.

I told one of the kids I wanted a "rake" ...usually about 15% of the money brought into the game (I figure $20 per kid is $600 and I could walk away with about $100.)

He looked at me HORRIFIED...."Mrs. Halterman...that's illegal!!" I laughed and told him like gambling in my VIRGINIA basement is legal..:lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Of course, the truth is I am thrilled they are in my basement. Means they are not out trying to sneak into DC bars or walking the streets getting into trouble.

Anybody have a receipe for a egg/breakfast dish? Peg's making lasagna for Christmas dinner and I want to provide breakfast. Looking for some kind of crustless quiche or something. If forced I'll do some kind of tasty omlette, but I'd like to find something a little different.

Off to google some.........

Daniel and his friends are so good. It's a pleasure to have them around. You must have done something right raising him. Good job mom.

John makes an awesome quiche. I'll ask him to get you the recipe. He's asleep right now, but I'll check with him tomorrow for you.
