We are WAY proud of you too!

The bus driver lady said she just didn't see him.....how do you drive a bus and not see a child flagging you down. Scary. He came home on the bus today so she knows where to pick him up tomorrow. Thank goodness I'll be able to get my beauty rest in the morning.

Thanks Monica, I could not have done it without you and everyone here.

ON Gosh!! Nan you crack me up (Hello, by the way). The drama stuff is so hard. I know it is hard, but getting cut from a show is all part of the deal. Gretchen tried out for Suessical the Musical along with 200 other kids for 40 roles. She got lucky and got a spot...not one of her friends got a spot. She was miserable, but decided to do the show anyway. The last weekend was 3 preformances and she made lots of new friends.

I have told you about Westfield High School (VT Shooter from there and lots of other issues including a drug bust 2 weeks ago for 10 kids dealing herion!!) where my kids go....largest public high school in VA. Well, ABC news filmed 200 hours last year a high school 95% white doing The Wiz. All of our friends will be in the show and we think even Don (DH) is in the show. It is on next Monday the 15th for a 2 hour special. Here is a trailer from You Tube.

Nan, you have to watch this show.

Hi Lisa:

Yes getting cut is part of SOME shows, but not part of how the non profit theater company who runs the shows for our middle schools. Seems that this attitude is being created from a new producer. Not all children's theater is set up to cut kids. We specifically have not joined in those kind of companies because we don't think at a young age that is what should be taught to kids doing drama. We like the companies that offer self esteem building by making a spot for each child that wants to be there. There are companies that do opperate with direct talent only, but we don't go there. The sad thing is that our director and musical director love Molly and the director told me not to worry that she will get a part, but the problem lies in that we don't want her playing in a company that cuts kids. So we really do have a problem on our hands. Because she is likely to get a part and we will have to either compromise on our values or have her not take the part.
So I'm not complaining about her not getting a part, I'm complaining that there are other kids that are getting cut. Very different....It will come to a head I think in the next few days, I've made some calls and Paul will be making his tomorrow and we will continue to ask why this choice was made for this production and hopefully the right choice of adding small parts for the rest of those that try out can be in.

I REALLY hope that this is NOT what the deal is.....or if it is, they should really do something for those not traveling w/ kids too.

::yes:: just because I have kids doesn't mean I want to travel with them :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: Really, I'm serious. I'd be likely to take a girlfriend trip if the price was right since my DH says "NO MORE CRUISES FOR HIM"

They really should. We should revolt!!!

::yes:: sign me up, remember I need a cause :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

I know I should not be spending $ on frivolous (don't count off for spelling, please) things....but....I'm really tempted to go spend 1 (or 2) nights at WDW (to include Christmas night). Talk me out of this people, please!!

Sorry Mon, I say you only live once and you can't take it with you. You want to feel pampered and special for Christmas....it's like a present to you. I say go for it.

If you seriously don't want to spend the money just think of all your reasons for not wanting to and make that pros and cons list. It'll help you decide.

He tried to sell the senate seat being vacated by Obama for about a million dollars.

He was completely corrupt. For everything he did on his job he demanded to be personally compensated. He dismissed the notion that he was a public servant elected by the people for the people. I'm glad he got caught.

Nan, you have to watch this show.

It's on 20/20 and I have it set to record. I'll look for Don. Post a picture of him please Lisa so I know who to look for.

Quick update...

Dad's back in the hospital... they are doing a cat scan tomorrow... they think that maybe somethings off since he lost alot of blood in the surgery and was under for 11+ hours...

Now it's just a waiting game....

We're waiting with you. Let us know as soon as you know something new. We'll keep praying.

love, love, love, love, love, it. It's cracking me up - got through the first chapter and couldn't stop! thanks.

She let Robert Pattinson read it before they started shooting the movie, to help give him some insight as to what Edward was going through.

I watched Harry Potter the other night just to take a 'refreser look' at Cedric Diggory :lmao:

.

Hi again folks!

It was a busy evening for us. The girls and I went out to Tim Horton's for dinner and did some Christmas shopping. The girls picked out presents for Ken. Its so cute watching them look and think about what they want to get. They had some good ideas which weren't at all realistic but interesting to hear them think about it.

Marilyn - sounds like your enjoying your vacation, but too bad that MVMCP wasn't as good as previous years.

Nan - sounds strange that the drama club is changing how its dealing with the kids. Hopefully they can find some way to include everybody since that's been the attitude in the past.

Gaylean - cute pic of Jon and baby Ethan.

Monica - I think you should go have a great time in WDW with Nan and her family.

Ian - I love your suggestion about "I want" instead of "I can't". Since we've had the kitchen reno happening I gained 5lbs because we were eating more fast food, and so there wasn't leftovers, so I was adding to my lunch from the vending machine. Last week I gave myself a mental kick in the butt and started using the WiiFit again. And I'm packing bigger lunches, so when the I start to feel I want some chips, I just say I could do it, but I WANT to lose weight and be healthier. So long way of sayaing Thanks for the idea!

Michelle - all your little comments make me smile. You are so kooky :thumbsup2 And its not -13F here yet, but its coming this weekend. YUCK!

Deb - that's ridiculous about the bus driver, but hopefully tomorrow will be better and you can sleep in. How's your leg doing?

Thanks Deb. Well done Tom, and a very special well done Deb!!!!

Thanks Marilyn, it get's easier from here for both me and for Tom too.

Not yet. i'm going to ask them to forward any mail on to the Beach Clubif they will do so.

Mine is ready to go out tomorrow. John will send it from work because it's a main hub. I have sent it to the Beach Club. It should get there when you do.

They really should. We should revolt!!!

We don't even know what the news is yet. We'll find out tomorrow. I'm excited about it.

Do it!

You sound like me!

Ok so I really want to read this series but haven't yet. My best friend is going to loan me the books. I don't want to see the movie till I at least read the first boo. Ok now onto my question. My sister is 11 and want to see this but I don't think she will like it. So is this movie appropriate for an 11 yr old or is she too young? She is not into romance yet.

I'd say if she's not into romance yet, she won't enjoy it as much as YOU will..:lmao: It is a love story with a vampire fight scene thrown in!

I'd read the book first also...you only need to read the first one before seeing the movie. However, it was kind of fun to see characters in the film knowing what as going to happen to them next. You know, you'd sit in the theater and smirk and nod thinking "just wait, mister" :lmao:

Just back from MVMCP. It was a zoo!!!Packed. Sell out! We have been the 2 previous years and this was much more crowded and not as nice at all. Don't think we will do it again and that is a shame. Just too many tickets sold.

Met our friends from a UK board I am on, and Ann and Albert from this cruise.

Glad you got to meet up with some friends, but sorry that you didn't like MVMCP this year and that you won't be going back. That's so sad. Why did they oversell it? That's horrible and not fun for anyone.

Now here's a couple final pics of the kitchen.
Here's the dining area. The china cabinet, table & chairs were Ken's parent. I didn't think of it when we picked the orange paint colour, but it matches the chair seat :thumbsup2

And here's the nice new sink and counters

And here's an in-progress shot of all the cabinets

Still needs baseboards and trim around the door, but that can wait until after Christmas.:goodvibes :santa:

Jackie, I haven't read these books (actually hadn't even heard of them until you started mentioning it on here), and I have a question. Is this one that the movie is better having read the books, or would you recommend see the movie and then read the books?

Hi Shannon, LOVE the kitchen....how beautiful. Thanks for the long awaited pics.

The leg is bad again. It still leaks off and on and right now it's infected. I'm on my second batch of antibiotics. It's not going away. What else is new.

Shannon, LOVE the kitchen, it looks great!

Regarding books/movies. My general rule of thumb is to read first UNLESS you are especially fond of some of the actors who may have been cast in the movies. Once you see a movie, the apparance of the actors will color your experiences when you read the book. CONVERSELY, you run the risk of being disappointed with the casting of a book you've loved. For this movie I was happy with the leads, even though I might not have cast them. I didn't think the male lead was handsome enough...but the actor did a great job even though he wasn't my idea of male perfection. ;)

So, have you read/seen Harry Potter stuff? Did you see one of the movies before reading the later books? I'd use that as a guideline in making your choice. My sister-in-law went to the movie with us not having read the book and did enjoy the movie.

ALSO, I agree with Nan's post about her choice for Molly (or any pre-teen) reading the book and seeing the movie. It is definately 'young-adult'. The first book (and movie) only has fluttering hearts, face stroking, snuggling and kissing . But, through the series, this becomes a full 'adult' relationship (though no explicit descriptions).

Its so strange how long your leg is taking to heal. Good luck with the new batch of antibiotics.:goodvibes

Jackie, thanks for the thoughts about Twilight movie/book. I have read and seen all but the last Harry Potter book and movie. I read the books before the movies, and Ken saw the movies before the books. He enjoyed the movies more than I did, but I did still enjoy them. So that was a great example
