I am long last home!

Just relaxing a bit before I go eat dinner and collapse for the evening.

Horrible weather. It was POURING this morning and now, this evening, snow showers. The walk home from the train --- yuck!

Oh, and our governor was arrested. Just a normal day in Illinois.

And he seemed so nice on the summer evenings when he jogged past our house (no fooling, our street was on his route for his nightly run. He'd always wave at us.)

Sukie is currently glued to the news.

Just the normal day in Chicago :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: What did he do?

On the door magnet for Grammie...do you want it to say Grammie or Joanne? (I can't find the original post w/ the info you wanted to have on the sign)

Do you like one of these?

We only have a tentative date picked out so far....it's too soon to tell if DCL will approve it or not. So we have to wait and see. But I will definitely send you and V and Bubba a boa and tiara if you get together and drink some champagne with us. We'll take pictures and post on here so you can see. You can post your pics on here too and then we can share.:cutie: :cutie: :cutie:

So we could have a virtual tasting party.:drinking1 :cheer2: :cheer2:

::yes::

Too cute and I'm jealous :snooty: I want to go for NYE :sad1:

wanna sneak in my suitcase??? I'd try it ya know :rolleyes1 :cool2:

I know I should not be spending $ on frivolous (don't count off for spelling, please) things....but....I'm really tempted to go spend 1 (or 2) nights at WDW (to include Christmas night). Talk me out of this people, please!!

Can you stay with us???? I'm not sure what we will have in our room to sleep on, I think a couch. I think I have asked for the room with the bunkbeds and that should leave us with another bed and a couch if my memory serves right from 3 years ago...We'd have no problem with you hanging out with us if you can endure the craziness :dance3: Come to think of it, Molly will take a spot on the floor and give you her bunk if need be because she sleeps on the floor all the time when we have just 2 bed because she thinks Wilson kicks too much, so DO IT!!!! Stay with us, :flower3: ok????

Love 'em, they are great, wanna email them to me please :flower3: I like having some with both her name and Grammie, she is really both of those people in my mind :rolleyes1

You caught me in the middle of RE-reading Twilight. Well, I was out of books and it was just sitting there.... I read it about a year ago and then read books 2-4 last month. THEN saw the movie twice. I figure if I run into any teenage girls I'll have something to talk about! :lmao:

.

Ok so I really want to read this series but haven't yet. My best friend is going to loan me the books. I don't want to see the movie till I at least read the first boo. Ok now onto my question. My sister is 11 and want to see this but I don't think she will like it. So is this movie appropriate for an 11 yr old or is she too young? She is not into romance yet.

Aren't you something....that's so nice of you to offer...only problem w/ that is that I snore (but don't tell Jackie :lmao: ) & I try not to subject others to that (Jackie - I'll bring you earplugs if we do the Baltics together)

Email on it's way--hopefully it works. I had a cool pic of fireworks w/ Pooh & Piglet, but I can't find it now :confused3

Drama Mama here.....

We found out the play Molly's school is doing is going to offer only parts for 21 kids. 56 kids tried out. Lots of upset kids. One really upset mama. One of the reasons that Paul and I have liked the program so much is that is always included everyone. There are always some good parts for the good actors and singers but there are then lots of little side parts for the other kids. So of course me and my big mouth have started an issue of this travesty. The producer is new this year and I've found out that we don't see eye to eye (read he is a jerk) and sadly when I went to talk with the director (who we love) to tell him of my concerns he told me not to worry (implying that Molly had a part) and then I told him that made me even more conflicted about her being in the show, because lots of kids are getting cut. In true political fashion the director of the theater program that "usually" runs the shows is totally on my side and is ready to draw blood, as I've kept her informed of the situtation. There is a meeting going on right now about this topic. I hope that the right thing is done and they come up with a compromise that makes room for the little parts to include everyone.

I think I need to find a job because staying home just makes me have too much time on my hands for stuff like this :rolleyes1

I feel very strongly that my 11 year old is not reading the books or seeing the movie. I feel from what I've heard that there is a strong sexual content to the story. Maybe not so much in the first books, but more later on. Also, if you see the characters don't ya think they kinda look at bit to sexy for their own good???? One of Molly's best friends has an obsession with this book/subject and has tried to get Molly and their other friend to join her. Not happening...She is even planning her 12th bday party around this theme, Molly might just miss it :rolleyes1 No reason to put a child in a place where they feel uncomfortable (as Molly would) over this kind of topic. Climbing off my soapbox now....

Ok, so we all snore, as we say in my family WHAT'S YOUR POINT. I understand if you'd like your privacy (i can totally be that way too) but if it's really just the snoring, that's a non issue for us....now in chinese custom I invite you 2 more times and on the 4th time you accept. I learned that in my book, by Amy Tan, can't think of the title...

out for dinner Paul just got home. See ya later.

ON Gosh!! Nan you crack me up (Hello, by the way). The drama stuff is so hard. I know it is hard, but getting cut from a show is all part of the deal. Gretchen tried out for Suessical the Musical along with 200 other kids for 40 roles. She got lucky and got a spot...not one of her friends got a spot. She was miserable, but decided to do the show anyway. The last weekend was 3 preformances and she made lots of new friends.

I have told you about Westfield High School (VT Shooter from there and lots of other issues including a drug bust 2 weeks ago for 10 kids dealing herion!!) where my kids go....largest public high school in VA. Well, ABC news filmed 200 hours last year a high school 95% white doing The Wiz. All of our friends will be in the show and we think even Don (DH) is in the show. It is on next Monday the 15th for a 2 hour special. Here is a trailer from You Tube.

Nan, you have to watch this show.

Good Morning Bipeds (and Nan)!

I finally finished writing all my performance reviews yesterday. Today I start to give people their reviews. I will be done by Thursday, 7 days ahead of the deadline.

I will also be extremely happy to have this out of the way. I can't stand something like this hanging over my head.

Things have really started to quiet down at work. I think it's more a matter of people going into "holiday mode" and being more relaxed in general.

This coming Friday is my company's Christmas party, it's our lunch cruise out on the lake, we leave at 11:30 and then buses will bring us back at 4:00 PM. So, it feels like a short week to boot.

Are you wearing appropriate clothing for this shindig??? A red and green tie would do it... or in your case... a blue one...

I'm serious, you guys, does anyone ever get used to this :confused3 And what do you do if you have kids? Bundle them up to walk from the house to the car, only to take it off so you can put them in their car seats?

We walk around either like Shannon... in shorts... or like the Michelin Man and we can't bend our arms until spring time... :rotfl:

I've been wanting to post this for awhile. This is Jon and baby Ethan. Jon grew up in the snow too.

Jan2911.jpg

Awwwww... thank God you had Ethan bundled up!!!

Good morning everyone! I'm finally caught up!

:grouphug: :grouphug: to Nan and Monica for their recent losses

:grouphug: for Michelle and her dad.

Yes you get used to it and you bundle up as needed and don't unbundle in the car. It takes a while for the car to warm up inside. Kaleigh wears her coat, hat and mitts for the drive to daycare and Shaelyn just wears her coat. Many people around here were hats and gloves (steering wheels are cold!) When its around -25 C(-13F) then the cold starts to get annoying. It really does suck when the inside of your nose freezes as you breath  When I was a kid, my mom's diesel car didn't produce enough heat to really warm up, so when we'd go for long drives in winter, we had blanket over our legs and an ice scraper to scrape the inside of the windows in the back, so we could still see out. It made the 9hr drive to my aunts seem to take forever.:lmao:

Shannon... you have me beat... -13????

I'll have to come on tonight and post the final pics of the kitchen. I got home from shopping after work last night and Ken & the girls had already done the dishes and set the table and had dinner almost ready :woohoo: :woohoo: It was so nice to eat at the table again!

Now my coffee break is over and I must get back to work :sad2: I must do Christmas cards this week, so people will actually get them before Christmas.

That was so sweet!!! :worship: :worship: :worship: :worship: See what a new kitchen can do???

Holly, got your card yesterday - love it, thanks!!!

Marilyn... check at the front desk and make sure you leave a forwarding!!!

.
Seat belts are worn over the snow suits and coats. Carseat belts are loosened in the back to accommodate the clothing just like you do to accommodate growth.

Inside the car isn't warm enough for no coats unless you drive a long way and crank up the heat which we don't do.

Jan :santa:
.

Unless you have a honda... then you can grow tropical plants inside...

see what you think,

Very nice!!! :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

Quick update...

Dad's back in the hospital... they are doing a cat scan tomorrow... they think that maybe somethings off since he lost alot of blood in the surgery and was under for 11+ hours...

Now it's just a waiting game....

Tom has officially been here one week and he has gotten back into school, gotten his PA driving permit and has a job interview at the mall scheduled for Thursday. I think he has done a lot in a week and I'm so proud of him. We got the custody papers from the lawyer today. Just have to sign them and write a check. It only costs $150 and a signature to give away your kids....in case anyone is interested.....just kidding.

The best part....is that I'm proud of me too.....one week and not even one slip up with the smoking. YEAH! I'm ready to hit my one year mark on New Years Eve. That will feel good and lock it in for me. Thank you all for helping me get there.

:sad1: :sad1: :sad1: :sad1: When will it be? Maybe V and I can get together and have our own champagne tasting at the same time :teleport:

Oh you just want an excuse to drink... :goodvibes :goodvibes :goodvibes

Latest rumor is that it is a kids cruise free for 1st half of 2009 deal. BUT that is still rumor, even thouga webmaster mentioned it. We'll know soon.

I'm hoping for a free WDW day(s) adjacent to your cruise.

Sure... take your kids out of school just so they can cruise free.... NAN????

Ian... Is that man wearing a toupe??? Oh come on... it HAS to be... you can see the lines and everything.... :sad2:

I know I should not be spending $ on frivolous (don't count off for spelling, please) things....but....I'm really tempted to go spend 1 (or 2) nights at WDW (to include Christmas night). Talk me out of this people, please!!

I was going to say go stay with Nan... but she beat me to it... ;)

Calling all Champagne Girls....our feather boas arrived today. They are hot pink, not light pink to match the tiaras. I did this on purpose. The light pink colored boas didn't match the tiara exactly either so I went for a more extreme contrast. It'll look just fine.

No news yet from my cousin. I'm still sitting on pins and needles.

Thanks Deb. Well done Tom, and a very special well done Deb!!!!

Did you get mine? I sent it a few days ago. I hope it makes it by the 12th.

Not yet. i'm going to ask them to forward any mail on to the Beach Clubif they will do so.

I REALLY hope that this is NOT what the deal is.....or if it is, they should really do something for those not traveling w/ kids too.

They really should. We should revolt!!!

I know I should not be spending $ on frivolous (don't count off for spelling, please) things....but....I'm really tempted to go spend 1 (or 2) nights at WDW (to include Christmas night). Talk me out of this people, please!!

Do it!

Just back from MVMCP. It was a zoo!!!Packed. Sell out! We have been the 2 previous years and this was much more crowded and not as nice at all. Don't think we will do it again and that is a shame. Just too many tickets sold.

Met our friends from a UK board I am on, and Ann and Albert from this cruise.

Way to go Deb! We're all proud of you too! I knew you could do it, you're so close to that one year mark! I'll have a drink in your honor that night during my movie rental marathon! :thumbsup2

I'll be toasting right along with you!!! YEAH!!!!!!!!!!

I think that sounds fun....I mean there is champagne involved. What week is it?

We get on the boat on Sat. Sept 12 and we have a two sea days on Sun and Mon. So we want to try to do it at 2pm on Sun Sept 13. That could work for you guys too. And yes, Bubba can drink Tequila instead but he has to wear the tiara and the boa! WE WANT PICS!!!:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:
