ended up paying $ to a neighborhood teen to do my lawn, edging & weed picking - I didn't really want to do that, but my back/knee have not been happy with me & the up/down movement from the de-weeding would have done me in.

Kept today as a lazy day - watched hours of "too cute" on the Animal Planet, took a nap, dig get out of the house to go get cash for the kid & to go to Publix, but that's it.

Tomorrow, the plan is to go to Church & who knows what else.

Hope everyone is having a good Saturday. :flower3:

Michelle - the stockings look great!!

Might I suggest some nice chocolate ice cream from our favorite place??? No.. that OTHER favorite place... :rotfl:

Well.. I finished the baby's stocking last night.. the stitched part at least...

I just have to look for a backing material and I think I'll start looking at some quilting shops to see if I can find a nice calico in lavender...

it will eventually look similar in size to my stocking which I made about 10 years ago (I figured after about a dozen or so other stockings... I should make one for myself...)

Very cute and well done.:thumbsup2

Welcome home!!! We missed you!!!

Followed your cruise a bit on the web.. Sailwx tracks ships.

Soooo.. we need a full report.. what did you think of the cruise? The ship??? No mickey bars????????????????:faint:

Haha, never even thought about the Mickey Bars. They have free home made scoop ice cream, low fat ones, as well as the soft serve. Lots of lovely yummy flavours, some change daily as to what they made for the previous night's dinner. They have M&M's and gummies and hot sauces too. We occasionally got a dish of the candies on their own too!!!:yay: There was also gelato that you could buy but of course w never tried that.;)
We didn't sail far at all. The purpose of the cruise is to visit the wine regions really and there were many related tastings and chats onboard too plus special wine paired meals you could book etc. We did nothing at all.

Hi Maz! Welcome back!

Looking forward to hearing what you thought of Celebrity & it's service. Glad you had a good time & that you were able to cruise again.

<3 to you & John!

I don't quite know how to do a review as I just would go on and on and on(;)) I can list things I suppose.

They have so many different ships. We were on the Constellation which is an older one and is having a major do over next spring I believe. Not a beautiful ship like the Magic and Wonder are but not too bad looking and certainly in proportion unlike the newer ugly container vessel kind of look they all seem to like these days. It had a very similar layout to the M&W which was great for us as we soon learned our way around. We were on Deck 6 just like we like to be on the M&W and there was an extra deck between there and the buffet where the drinks stations were(Deck 10) but we still walked up the 4 decks only taking the lift about 3 times!!! I am thinking you will be on a different ship though.

There are a total of 7 free drink stations. At lead one was open 24 hour. The general coffee was brewed and very good and strong and 100% better than DCL. There were loads of different teas, ice and water and juices though the orange was horrible, thick and sweet. For sodas you need a beverage package(or pay) I think they had 2 levels of non alcoholic packages and 2 levels of alcoholic. Plus of course wine packages.

There was a speciality coffee shop and you could also get unlimited from there in some of the beverage packages. coffee was good. They also had great pastries, cakes, sandwiches and snacks there for free, you didn't need to buy a coffee for those and you could have them to go too. Chcocoate Chip an other cookies were available all the time there and at the buffet and burger bar all the time they were open too. Loved that!!!

I don't really want to do a comparison thing for a few reasons. I think what we enjoy and how we enjoy them are very personal and you would feel different to us of course. We have done 8 DCL cruises and only one Celebrity. We love DCL and are cruising with them again next year, but we have have some problems and complaints and some we have hit a brick wall with and continue to feel annoyed about. At the moment Celebrity does win hands down if I were to compare experiences but maybe if we had done 8 Celebrity cruises we might probably be finding more fault. Plus we were in a suite(albeit a mini suite), not done a suite before. Do you understand what I am saying?

Maybe I should do a 'what I loved', what I liked', 'what was good' 'what I didn't like', what I missed', etc.

Main thing I did miss was a group of lovely friends to see around the ship but I guess that could happen on a DCL ship too at time.

All makes perfect sense! :thumbsup2 Really glad you enjoyed your cruise!

:grouphug::grouphug: Not if we can help it!

So what cruise are you thinking of for next year?

Ok.. I have to rant for a minute..

about me.. myself...

I was very frazzled last night.. and I'm soo mad at myself now...

I know you've all seen the pics of the work I've done... & it's good.. even I'll admit that much.. but I stopped stitching about 7 years ago when a friend moved in with us and also when we moved. Just never got into it again...

I've done some things over the years... but not much.

Soooo.. I do the stocking... and I've done a piece of lace in the last month or so... but the stocking wasn't anything difficult as far as pattern and it was done on a large count fabric (Lisa G would know what I mean with all this...) and it was relatively easy...

BUT.....

I'm done with them now and I've gone on to look for another project to do and I spent HOURS last night looking through my MASSIVE amount of supplies I have (from 26 years of stitching) and I realized how low I've let my skill level get !!!! I have all of this great stuff and I don't feel confident enough to work on them...

I AM SOO MAD AT MYSELF!!!!

so.. until then.. I'm working on what I would have considered a no brainer.. a little halloween piece... won't take me long and I'll go on to something else. I have a nice tinkerbell one I got at Disney a few years ago.. maybe I'll do that one next...

Michelle, don't be mad at yourself. You did great on the stocking, your next project will be just as nice. I have faith in you!:hug::hug::hug::hug::hug::hug::hug:

thanks Holly... I'm going to go and work on it while I watch Masterpiece theater..

So another week coming up of peddling Scout popcorn every day. We have to do it every day because he gets behind in sales when he's at his dad's because just as in all the past years, dad doesn't take him selling. Grrrrr.

Michelle - don't be so hard on your self....you'll get back to where you were, when you're ready.

working only 4 hours today - spending the afternoon/evening at Epcot - Air Supply is playing tonight.

hope to run into Jill, Matt & Lily as well as Claire from the UK.

Hello all. Good to see all the pages of chat but sorry to hear all the bad news here and there. Sorry to those in pain from whatever reason, stones, knees, necks, legs etc. Apart from the stones, do any of you find your other aches get worse at changes in weather types or air pressure? I know I do with the small amount of wrist/thumb arthritis I have.
Yes, I do. My left foot aches--just above the arch and sometimes other places. A day or so later it rains. ::yes::

Anyway I hope you are all feeling a bit better today and for Michelle the stone passes soon. To Monica, John and I think a chiropractor is great and they do get you moving and help the pain. When we started we went 3x a week for 2 weeks, then 2x for a couple of weeks and then gradually a longer distance till he recommended 6 to 8 week appointments to just keep topped up so to speak. I hope it helps you.

Deb, sorry to hear the news about Joe, well for Sandy anyway. It would be lovely if she and John were closer again soon. I hope all your planning works out too for Thanksgiving etc.

Holly, it must have been so hard for you recently, you are doing great but it must be strange having him just next door.

Just home today from our cruise. We loved it. Unfortunately the weather was not as good as it should have been down in Spain and Portugal but it didn't affect us much as we weren't going anywhere and we don't sunbathe anyway;)!! It was pleasantly warm but cloudy and we did have some rain. We had pretty good weather though the final 2 sea days coming home which was a lovely surprise. We had an excellent road journey home too from the port today, so much easier than flying from some far away place. Hopefully we will do some more cruises from here as it does make a difference.

Hoping everyone is doing better.
Glad your cruise was so much fun. There is something about God's ocean that heals my heart. So glad we had the DVC Member Cruise planned as it was perfect therapy after Mom died. A day at sea and two days on CC. We never did a double dip before so that was special, but the ocean time was most special.

 to all
Jan

The stocking is lovely.
::yes:: You are very talented.
I cannot see what you are upset about, but I bet it is like riding a bicycle, when you get on one, you remember. You'll soon be doing what you think is better!! :cool1: (although the rest of us think you are doing excellent work now.....)

Thanks Marilyn. So glad to see you back again.

One thing is for sure.....I will cook a turkey meal at home this thanksgiving. I want the leftovers. I may have to do it the weekend before or after the holiday, but either way I'm doing the cooking.

John called Sandi this weekend....after I nagged him to do it. He said she's in denial and not dealing with it well. She was out partying with all the friends as if he was still there and she was drowning herself in drinking to escape from the truth. That's not good. She needs to face it. I told John he better keep in touch with her and call more often. He's her father no matter what. He said he will. So that's good. Hopefully, because she is so lost right now, he will be there for her and they can put aside their differences.

Monica, I can't wait to be you....hahaha.....I would love to go to the Air Supply concert and meet up with Jill and Matt and Lily and also Claire. What a great time you're going to have. Please take lots of pics for us.

Shell, you must have been killer at knitting or needlepoint? Whichever, because the stocking that you did for Evelyn and yourself looks beautiful. I'm sure if you go back to doing it more often again, you'll pick it up in no time and be as good as you ever were.

Jan, I feel the same way about the open sea.....it just cures whatever ails me. It always rejuvinates me. It's my favorite part about cruising. John too. He feels the same way about it. That's why we love cruising and try to do it often.

Here's a picture of a condo in Montauk Long Island where John and I spent our honeymoon 22 years ago. Sandi and Ric (Sandi's first husband and father to her two kids) joined us there.....long story.

http://www.royalatlantic.com/vtour/index2.php

I always wanted to go back and we never have. So I'm thinking about making reservations there for Thanksgiving weekend. I invited Casey and Brittany to come with us. It's a two bedroom, 2 1/2 bath unit.

It's right on the beach and even though it's going to be cold....we can put the fireplace on and watch the waves. That will be nice.

I told John it will probably be the last time we ever get to visit there. After we move to Florida, I doubt that we'll get back to Long Island a lot. So I think we should do it now.
