i was looking at the ebta then cruises in between the first greek isle cruise. it would be 54 days front to back($$$$$) plus airfare. wow wish i had that kind of time off and the $.:scared1:

Okay, this post is so far off-topic (not that we have a topic!) it's not even funny, but I know we have a lot of Thieves who live in the East, so I'm hoping someone has some advice.

The situation: Alison has an audition in a couple of weeks at Muhlenberg College in Allentown, PA that will probably run all day. The next day, we have a campus tour set up at 10am at Rider University in Lawrenceville, NJ. We would LIKE to also see the campus at Montclair State but it has to be BEFORE the Rider tour.

The question: At this time of year, in this area, is it reasonable to plan to drive at night from Allentown to Montclair, then spend the night nearby so as to be on campus early enough to tour around for an hour or so before driving down to Lawrenceville? (We have another tour in Philadelphia at 3:30 that day so it's going to be a CRAZY day!).

The other option would be to stay in Allentown (or somewhere halfway in between) and drive there in the daylight, but I have no idea what morning traffic might be like in that area. Being from Los Angeles, we plan everything around traffic!

Secondary question: If we do drive there in the evening, does anyone know the area around Montclair well enough to recommend an area to stay in?

Thanks! You may now return to your regularly scheduled cruise planning chatter!

Tracy this is in my old stomping grounds, you would be better off traveling in the evening from Allentown to near Montclair, traffic on I-78 is bad in the AM. your right it will be a crazy day. There are a few hotels near the Montclair campus but we haven't stayed at any of them :confused3

you will have to start out early if you want to make your 10:00 at Rider, take the parkway south. should be OK in the AM.

Yes, and I was just about to tell you two that you'd better not make me have to come over there!

Sisters.....what do you expect! We love each other.

:scared1::eek::woohoo: For just the two of you??? :scared1: What category were you looking at....Walt Suite?????????????

Yup just for the two of us for a cat 5C...no insurance, no transfers, nothing but the base price. That's why we're not booking.

Actually, I don't anticipate being in that much of a hurry. As long as we get there before midnight we'll be good. And we have to eat anyway. Maybe we could meet up somewhere for dinner before we head to Lawrenceville. We'd sure love to see you guys! Let me know if you think that might work.

Tell me what date and I'll talk to John. What time will you be done with the audition? John won't be home until 5:30-6:00 and the we would need a half hour to drive down there. Is that doable? We'll try to work it out!!!

Hi All!!

Hope everyone's Thursday has started out well.

I was at the dr's for an 8am appt...got yelled at (of course, expected) about my weight & cholesterol (working on both), but otherwise things are ok. Next blood work to be done PRIOR to the Hawaii cruise :lmao:

I'm on the 3rd week working out on the stationary bike...
week 1 - 10 miles
week 2 - 14 miles
week 3 - so far 7 miles (only done 2 days). Not sure if I'll be able to do anything tonight as I am so tired, but we'll see ;)

Karl has been an inspiration to me....he posted he does min of 10 miles/week, so that's my aim too. (THANKS KARL!) :thumbsup2

Why would you get yelled at by the doctor....you're doing so well with your exercising and I know you lost a lot of weight because I saw you and you look good.

I (unfortunately) have gained back about 20 of the 30 lbs that I had lost....grr

Oh Ok. I know exactly how you feel. I gained 40 up from where I was when I started WW. I'm thinking of maybe doing WW again or maybe Jenny Craig. Coz it's not working by me just trying to eat well and I am trying.

Well you still look good.....must be all that exercising.

Well.....if we cruised less..like only once...but that would not be fun!

Well, just get back on the program and don't worry about that 20. It will come off again plus more! About cholesterol......Dennis has those awful side effects using the statins and so won't take them. BUT....his cardiologist said that studies have shown that Crestor taken just once a week gives great benefit without any of the side effects of daily dosing. He had GREAT results in just a few weeks. Cholesterol total down to 160 from high 200s. Might be something to talk to your doctor about. I plan to discuss it with my doc next visit since I have refused the statins because I believe they will kill you! She will probably be very happy with me. ;)

So John's TV came today.....(sweetie, your TV was delivered). Even though it's only a 42" it's a really big box. Fortunately they delivered it up to the porch and I just pulled it into the house when they left and my dog calmed down. Angel wanted a piece of the delivery man. She's a great guard dog for being alone in the woods. I'm sad about having to find homes for her and Ella when we leave next year. There's no way that I could bring Angel.....she needs a pen outside in the woods. Maybe I could bring Ella, although I don't want to be tied down to a pet if I want to cruise. I have to get rid of all my turtles too. I have five of them right now.

I'm sorry it didn't work out that the kid could live here with the pets. I'm sorry that I'm going to have to get rid of them. It breaks my heart. Does anyone know of someone who wants a black cat, a long haired german shepherd or five turtles? Just let me know. They can have them now. I'll start early.

I know of several people that would look after her while you cruise :goodvibes

I told you.. stay away from the Ben & Jerry's on the way to the blood test!!!

And it doesn't even come with a baby grand piano!!!!:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
Like the WALT suite does.

Karl

I thought they took the baby grand out of the Walt...

I remember that when we sailed, Lisa (Calmom) tried to get the Walt.. they offered it to her for 25 grand... and that was for 2 weeks... she stayed with her two cat 9's...

Ok.. time to brag... This is Brian in Rome.. he's the 4th one in from the left....

(and before you count the 7 girls.. he left his GF of 2 years back home at college and they are :lovestruc:lovestruc:lovestruc )
