Oh I am no expert at all Deb, I just read about them and listen to what other cruisers' say. HAL has been recommended to us time after time but the problem with them is they allow smoking in the rooms, though they say they deal with the smell well and you can't detect any lingering smell. But it does still put me off. I really don't like trying new things and prefer what I know. I even don't want to sail on the big DCL ships because I know and like the small ones. Plus of course we are higher on the loyalty programme with DCL. But the main reason we cruised in the first place other than with DCL was the ability to leave from the UK, and now we know we like the lines we cruised on after doing that. Otherwise we might never have strayed from DCL. Now of course we check pricing too as, like you said, DCL can be expensive. Also itineraries as DCL don't always go where you want to cruise to.

Marilyn, thanks for taking the time to share the details about your voyage! I'm amazed at how different the QM2 is than DCL and it sounds fabulous!

Well that was the easiest job I've ever gotten, LOL! It's not technically official yet but they're going to hire me if I pass an hour long math and spelling test and the manager is fine with me working every other week as long as I'm willing to cover a day once in a while on my weeks off. He's going to call me Wednesday or Thursday to tell me when my test is. I obviously don't anticipate having any trouble passing a basic math and spelling test, so I consider myself hired. The funny part (at least I found it funny) is that the job pays less than half what I currently make per hour. BUT.....it's extra income, and that's what matters. The managers there make $5,000.00/year MORE than I currently make though, which is sad considering how much I time and money I put into getting my degree.

But.....the point of all this is I almost have a 2nd job! Goodbye free time, hello health insurance! YAY!!!!!!!!

Well.. I'm dragging... I have to wrap tonight for the un christmas we're having.. I'm probably going to put out the creche for mom and skip the tree...

Mom made the Christmas eve dinner tonight instead of tomorrow...

I'd rather just skip the holiday all together. I'll be happy when it's wednesday...




& Marilyn... Planky would consider the kennel to be his.. only if he could order room service!

Well, it's not that I don't want to work every day. I DO. But I really can only work when Tyler's gone because otherwise I'd only see him to get him up in the morning to take him to school and then to pick him up from child care to take him somewhere else to go to the 2nd job. That's no life. I already lose half his life when he's at his dad's, I can't lose more.

I sure hope I find out soon what time I'll be picking up Tyler. Frustrating! I promised him we'd make Christmas cookies as soon as I pick him up (before I found out I wouldn't be picking him up yesterday), so we need to do that before church. So as long as I get to pick him up before 8pm, we should be fine (to allow time for frosting and decorating the cookies after made).

I'm going to head out and pick up some pizza while I wait to hear. Then I think a nap would be a good idea since I'm sure I'll be getting up at 4am to see what Santa brought.

Good news, when Tyler just called me to thank me for the his iPad, we figured out what time I'm picking him up. Bad news, they're setting his iPad up with a new ID, so Tyler will lose every app and game and all music he's ever bought on his iPod because it will only transfer if you use the same ID. Or at least that was my understanding, unless they know something I don't know.

Thanks so much Marilyn for helping to clarify differences between cruise lines. I was just kidding when I called you the official expert. haha. I meant it like Monica is the Ambassador of meet and greet....you are officially the Ambassador of cruise line comparisons. hahaha!!! Thanks for going into all the details. I'm fascinated with it. I love to cruise more than anything. It's good to know what the other cruise lines are like before deciding to try one.
