Good morning.

She's doing really good... I'm surprised...

She got home last night - I picked up some chinese because she likes their egg drop/wonton soup... little did I know how starving she was... she ate two plates!!!

she looks like a pirate: at the moment... (has a patch over the eye...) Have offered to get her a sequined one to wear out

I caught her up on the step stool this morning.. (one eyed...:scared1:) (can't keep a good woman down, I told Ian...:rotfl:)

Other than some Motrin, she's not really in any pain. I guess your eyelid doesn't have alot of nerve endings.

It was a really bad skin cancer. She will freely admit that she is a stubborn pain in the A$$ about getting things done so it is her fault. She had to go to the MOHS surgeon at one medical center and then the Plastic Surgeon over at Albany Med. (that's our big medical center up here...) We were VERY lucky to have had two very well known surgeons up here to get the help.

she will tell EVERYONE to use sunscreen now... (which her grandchild will not do... :headache::headache::headache: Maysie thinks the darker the tan the better...:eek:) Mom used to tan back when they used iodine to get tan with and she's paid for it.

On the nice side. she has been showered with some flowers from my siblings!!! A little bit of spring has arrived in our living room :flower3: :flower3:

She's asked me to thank EVERYONE :grouphug::grouphug: for all the love and good wishes... It has made her feel very good!!!

So pleased your mom is doing so well. I guess she is relieved now. When I was young, and your mom is older of course so it would have been the same, you didn't wear sun screen at all. In fact when I was about 7 I was a sickly child and was sent for 'Sun Ray' treatment, i.e. I stood almost naked in front of an ultra violet lamp. I also had strong ultra violet lamp treatment on my face for acne when I was a teen. Ladies used oil or a rich basic skin cream on their skin to encourage a sun tan!!! I am surprised we are all still alive.:scared1: I know I was one of the first people I knew who used suncream regularly and was laughed at quite a bit.

Now, getting John to use any was a big problem as it just wasn't manly.:confused3 He used to work on a building site in his holidays and they just got burnt until they could stand the sun!!! Over the years he has improved and does use it. Anyway of course he has just had a skin cancer removed so hopefully he will be more careful.

Another 8 to 8 day. Going in at 8am tomorrow again. But only working until noon because I'm picking Tyler up to go see "Hop". :goodvibes He's never been gone from me for 2 weeks, so I figured it would break up the 2 weeks so he's not going that whole time without seeing me. I know he was worried about in all day Sunday before his dad picked him up. He kept hugging me all day, and he's NOT a hugger. I never get hugs anymore. And when his dad picked him up, he kept coming back up the sidewalk to hug me a few times as they were trying to leave. ;) Then I might try to go back to work afterwards, I'll have to see how tired I am. I don't want Jan to come back to work and get stressed out by how much work is there. She needs to stay healthy for when I'm on vacation soon. :thumbsup2

You are such a good mom and friend Holly!!

Well.........Serenity was my first :cutie::cloud9:....

My son, Serenity's dad, has been with his girlfriend for a couple of years now, she moved to Ontario (they had met in Alberta) about a year and a half ago. She has 3 sons so I now have 3 grandsons as well :cool1::cool1::cool1:

Oh wow, and I bet you are a great grandma to these boys too.

I'll let you know about "Hop". Yes, we saw "Diary of a Wimp Kid 2" last weekend and both loved it! It was hilarious, but almost made me cry at the end (but in a good way). GREAT movie. I didn't expect to like it.

My grandsons both read the books so should love the film.

Thanks. I called them both this morning. Jan is still easily tired but feels like she'll be able to come back to work Monday. :thumbsup2

Jayson said they were doing all kinds of tests on him but that he felt better. He and I emailed each other back and forth all day and he was to be released this evening. He says it was a big wake up call and he's grateful to be walking out of there. Says he was told he has lots of weight he needs to lose and has to completely change his eating habits. I'm glad he's ok for now though. He has a wonderful wife and adorable twin boys turning 2 in June who need him around. I need him at work because he makes me laugh every day. :goodvibes

Good news. Well done for nagging him Holly.

Michelle- I am glad you mom is doing well. My parents are dermatologist so I have heard to stay out of the sun and use sunscreen my whole life.

I can't believe you're going away so soon... it seems like yesterday you were starting to plan!!! :goodvibes:goodvibes

Hi everybody. Life has been crazy busy with work. But at least I've got enough overtime banked so I won't miss a paycheque when we're cruising. Ken's busy with federal election volunteer work now until we go. He's a little disappointment that we'll be cruising and he'll miss the last two weeks of the campaign.
Both girls are out at Girl Guides today selling the classic spring cookies. And we've got company for the weekend, so I better get off here. Before I sign off:

Michelle - glad to hear the QM is doing great

Monica - hope you are able to get the transfer you want

Kathe - that's cool that you've got 3 bonus grandsons now.

Hi to everybody!

Well, the QM has decided she needs to get out of the house.. 1 whole day cooped up has driven her nuts!!! :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

We went to Oliver's for brunch... a day early... we haven't decided if we'll go back again tomorrow... Had my benny today and certainly wouldn't want to clog up my arteries any more than I already have...

I have made a hair appt for her to go and get shampooed and dried. She can't get the dressing wet and she also can't bend over so this was the best solution.

Then some light shopping and I'm sure she'll want to come home and nap... :cloud9::cloud9::cloud9:

She's feeling good - no pain which she is very surprised at. :woohoo::woohoo:

Wandering without a jacket today... hoping it gets warmer each day..

Hugs to all!

Hi to everybody!

Tell Ken that he doesn't get to do any work that day in Vancouver between cruises... Vacation means VACATION!!!

Hi Shannon. Not long now till your cruise. You sound to have been doing a great job building up funds so you can really relax well on the cruise and not worry about not getting paid.
Hopefully once on the cruise Ken will be able to put the election campaign to the back of his mind.

Everything there sounds good news Michelle. Doesn't nicer weather make you feel so much better as well?

Yeah... it is..

We went to 6 places did all our errands and now she's sitting enjoying some Golf... (which would put anyone to sleep!!!)

Wow... I'm 58 posts away from 15,000... Better get going Holly... :woohoo::woohoo::woohoo:

these are the flowers my sister sent my mom... (she got another bouquet from my brother with spring flowers in it...)

That is so cute! Next time you get up from the computer...go give Barb a hug from me!

(then have her give one back to you...it's on me too!)

.

:rotfl2: How many did you read first! When I sort through magazines it takes me forever. I keep finding recipes that I think I will use. Of course, I never do, so I started some time ago just ripping out the recipes so I could discard the rest, now I have envelopes full of untried recipes

I do that with my cooking magazines (thogh I staple them together and put them in a magazine rack to never try - lol). These ones were scrapbook so yep it took longer as I had to go through them again :)

Mom and I say thanks!!!:hug::hug:

but she also said she'd like the next on in person... ;)

Michelle- I am glad to hear your mom is doing well. We will get to CA on the 25th. We stayed at the Candy Cane Inn after the Panama Canal cruise. It was nice and very close to Disneyland.

that's a nice long stretch at DL... I remember last time running around trying to see if I could find any graduation stuff for you...

Sorry...looking at the wrong calendar... :sad2:

Then again... ANY time at DL is good!!!

Marilyn, same with my mom, on the oil part. My whole life, she slathered herself with oil and lay in our backyard all summer to get tan. She rarely bought sunscreen for me (when I was too young to be able to buy it myself) and even made me go to a tanning booth when I was about 12 before one of our vacations, thinking it would help keep me from burning in Mexico. I was very fair and always burned, no matter what. :sad2: Even every year in Mexico, she wouldn't really ensure I had sunscreen (when I was too young to think about it myself), so I burned and blistered horribly many years. :headache: One year in particular, it was so bad, she laughed and said I looked like a spotted cow. But that was before everybody knew the danger of sunburns.

You were smart, and that's why you look 20 years younger! :thumbsup2

That was quite scary about John's ear, so hopefully he has learned and I hope that will be his only experience with that.
