Hi Shell, so so sorry to hear about your HS friend....such a great loss at such a young age. I'm still not accepting the idea that I lost Brian...my best bud since 8th grade. It's such a tragic loss and so unfair to be so young. It still shocks me that Brian is gone. So I do know exactly what you're feeling right now. My heart goes out to you and to her family and all her friends. Many hugs.

First real cold days up here...

Going to have a frost tonight... brought in all the plants - everything is now on my dining room table. Have to figure out what to do with the basil and I want to keep the geraniums going over the winter... a bit of color... or until I kill them...

We hit 90 today. Supposed to be hot until Saturday, then drop about 30 degrees. I had to use the A/C today in my car.

Well the good news is that Tom got a job. YEAH! The bad news is that he's working in a wharehouse from 11pm - 7 am....and until he gets enough money saved to buy a car, I'm driving him back and forth and it's one hour away. It's a killer for me. But it's only temporary. At least he's working. It's a temp to perm job through an agency. It's above minimum wage and when he goes perm he gets a raise. It's good for him. He can manage an apartment on his own eventually. It's next to Kutztown University so if he wants to take classes towards a degree he can.

We told Tom we can't trust him enough yet to stay in our house while we're not here for 3 weeks on vaca. His job okayed him the time off because he told them it was previously planned before they hired him. So he will be driving down to Florida and back with us while we're away. He's going to stay with Sandi while he's there. I think it will be nice and work out great for everybody. He gets to visit his mom and brother and he has a job when he gets back. That's perfect. We have peace of mind that he's not in our house without us.

I leave exactly two weeks from right now. I haven't even started thinking about getting ready....packing, prepping, glamming....nothing. My entire focus has been on trying to help Tom. Now that he's settled in a job....I'll have some alone time at home, when I'm not asleep. This constant activity is killer to me. I'm having a hard time driving. I have to sing old rock tunes with the music and drink water the entire time that I'm behind the wheel just to stay alert. If I can catch up on some sleep, it should help and make it better. I would take steroids at a time like this normally....but I'm going on vacation for three weeks and need them for that. I can't take them back to back. I just don't have the energy level. It feels like it did when my mom got sick....I'm just kind of going on adrenaline because I have to. I figure I'll do this run for two weeks until we leave for vacation.....then I sleep in the car all the way down. Tom will have two pay checks by then and he'll have half the start up money that he'll need. John and I will loan him enough money for another two paychecks. Then he'll be able to get a car when we get back. He can pay us back the loan before he starts saving for his apartment. Then I won't have to do the drive after vacation. That will be good because I'll be coming off of the steroids and I'm going to crash hard. But it should all work out in the end.

Saw a couple of pics of Marilyn & John and Anne & Albert on my friend Pam's facebook page. They did a pre-cruise meet up in Barcelona...oh and Angie & Dennis were there too!

Well after only two nights, the warehouse said that Tom's project was finished and they didn't need him in tonight. He has to call tomorrow to see if they start up a new project and need him again. Ugh. This is a temp to perm position without steady work apparently. The good part is that I got to sleep tonight and got a break from doing the drive.....so what happens, our electric goes out in a storm. It was down for 4 hours. It wasn't so bad because we have a generator. But it was so hot and uncomfortable. I'm glad it's back.

Since Tom's steady job doesn't seem to be very steady, we're going back out to more agencies tomorrow. I told him not to give up what he has, just try to find something better. So it's back out to the job hunting. Tomorrow could be a very busy day if we job hunt all day and then he gets to work tomorrow night. It's a good thing I was able to get some sleep today. I'm going to need it.

I still have not even thought about what I'm going to pack. I better do it this weekend. My problem is that I'm exhausted from being so active with Tom. I have nothing left to get my stuff done. I might have to enlist Tom's help this weekend and try to get it done.

I did make an appointment for next week to get my hair done....cut and color and eyebrow wax. I'll do a walk in mani/pedi too during the week. So I have to finish packing this week/weekend because next week is busy glamming. I have never been so unprepared for a cruise. I have a feeling I'm just going to grab things at the last minute without any planning or prepping. Normally, I have lists and piles sorted days before putting it in a suitcase. Oh well, at least I'm going. That's the important part.

Michelle, Jane said on FB today that she is going to check Casey's assignment grades, attendance and homework assignments next week. If he so much as misses one homework assignment, he's not going. But we won't know what the results are until she checks and she's waiting another week before doing so. Just thought I'd let you know what Monica and I found out on FB today. The ball is in her court, she holds all the cards because she's the mom. She cannot be pursuaded otherwise. She has control issues. I would do more if I could. But it's not up to me. So sorry to keep you on hold until the very last minute. I just don't know.

That's ok... you know we roll with the punches... or not...

Mom went off to do her singing with the Seniors... she finally got involved with those "old biddies" this year... she refuses to believe she is one of them...

So... she "sings" with the Greyairs... She insists she's not good enough, but I told her to relax... they sing at nursing homes, etc. and 1/2 the people can't hear them and the other half are asleep...

the weather has been unbearable this past week. mid 60's to mid 70's most days but this weekend its going to get hot around 85 by saturday.

Ya but our summer has been mid 60's to Mid 70's......we had some summer in may but not much since. so i am going to Hawaii in Dec. to have some summer there!!

congrates on 14K, i have only 350 or so and i think i post to much.LOL
