I have sad news and a change of plans. I'll be flying to Florida one week earlier with Tom and probably Uncle Teddy. John will stay home and drive down a week later. He can't take more time off from work. He already has three weeks off for vacation. Uncle Teddy's ex wife, my Aunt Jesse, is not in good shape. They have to decide if they're pulling the plug in one week. This is so sudden. I was scheduled to see her in two weeks with my cousin Doug. I'm a day late and a dollar short. One week ago she went into the hospital for a routine surgery and never came out of it. She coded on the table and they brought her back, but she never regained consciousness. They believe there's brain damage. They don't think she is going to recover. My cousins Mike and Doug, her sons, have to decide if it's time to let her go. They have one more week until they have to make that decision. I'm devistated and so are they. I have to be there with them and Aunt Jesse. So I'm going to Bradenton for a week before meeting John in Orlando for vacation.
One never knows what is around the corner. I've always been very close to my Aunt Jesse. She always took me to the beach when I was a young kid. As I got older, I used to stay with her for a week every summer, when Mike and Doug were just babies. She recently relocated to Bradenton, FL from Long Island. She loved her new house with a pool. She said it was the best move she ever made. I was supposed to visit with her in just two weeks. I'm devistated.
