for the last four years or so my neighbor (a tree snob) has taken it upon himself (and another neighbor) to group buy trees for us to stake on our lawns. They are great!!!! and yes $15 for a 6'+ tree hard to beat that price and yes it is a bummer not to get our own, but frankly I've hated getting the tree since my dad died :sad1:

we used to go out after tday in lassen park (near mom and dad at lake almanor) and get our trees. in the years we didn't go up there dad would get me one. I'm finding myself really feeling so blue and missing him. every year this time seems to get more and more hard. it will be 4 years this january and he started getting sick around thanksgiving.

just kinda sucks, thanksgiving then our anniversary is 11/30 then paul's bday 12/5 then xmas then dad's death. sorry for the funk just in a mood I guess...

sorry your in a funk. But why dont you try getting your own for all the good reasons Dad did it. The smell, the chill in the air, finding the "perfect" one.....:santa:

I know I know...but silver tips are only in the higher elevations we low landers don't see those here and I'm broke....so....

and I'll take one for 15 bucks:rolleyes1

$15 is perfect for this year ::yes::

maybe next year we'll kick back into gear. Can't ya see what fun it would be to take a 13 year old girl with her 10 year old little crabby brother to find that perfect tree :rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

I found some pictures today that I had not seen before....time to share.

Hi All....

Nan, so sorry this time of year starts the blues for you since losing dad. I understand the anniversary, the birthday, the holidays....stay busy, it helps....and hugs too. btw, I think it's fine if you put your Christmas decos up for Turkey dinner at your house. Without the tree, I think it's fine and very festive. I'd love to see the pics when it's all done.

Ian, so sorry you didn't have Sukie to share BB&B today. It certainly would have been more fun with him than without. But I'm glad the linen committee figured it all out and the necessary items have been acquired. I can't wait to see the pictures this year. I enjoyed the 2008 slide show again. I can't wait to meet all those people next year.

Kaz, sooooooooo beautiful....your table setting in your decorated room....very fun and festive.

Holly, I hope you win the Dream cruise no matter when you can take it. I'll miss you though. You'll have to come on here and tell us all about how you like it.

Michelle, Finally you slept. So glad. See you and Deborah in just 2 more weeks. I'm excited.

Jackie, Glad you had fun at your party too. Who was the host so far away? I hope you win a Dream cruise too. btw, I have a cat 5E SR 5150. It's the same location as 5122 except you have to go forward off the aft elevators to the last room up the row. It's only a short hallway so it's convenient.

Hi Shannon, Hi Marilyn, So glad you're feeling good again Bubba. Hi V. Hi Kathe. Hi everyone else that I'm obviously forgetting right now. Hope everyone is having a nice weekend off.

Inquiring minds....want to know....can one decorate for Xmas before Tday if one is having Tday at her home?

I'm thinking today might be a good day to get some Xmas stuff out of the garage. It's sunny and nice. In a few weeks it might be dreary raining and cold.

What do you think?

Oh...the tree does not come until first weekend in Dec. I was lazy and ordered an extra from the neighborhood lawn tree peeps. They are nice trees and plopped on my lawn for $15 - why not :rolleyes1 (again searching for my smilies not making me happy

It's never in good taste to up Christmas decorations before Thanksgiving or wear white after Labor Day.

Not unless you're Auntie Mame.

Sorry you're feeling blue. You're entitled.

Although you do run the serious danger of my trying to cheer you up, and we all know that that isn't very pretty, don't we?

I am still exhausted today. Probably because I really didn't sleep very well last night after being so stressed out from yesterday and my project going into pilot.

I got home from BB&B, had lunch then found one of my favorite movies on Netflix as an instant watch, which means it can be streamed immediately. I do this via the new streaming Netflix feature on the Playstation 3.

So, we a blankie and Tallulah on my lap we settled in for a cozy afternoon of watching "A Letter to Three Wives," one of our favs. Tallulah and I were glued, but dropped off to sleep and so we had to go back halfway through the movie and start again.

It''s not even cold out, but we were very, very cozy.

This is when the boys were little and we took them to WDW for the first time...this is December 1999. They didn't know where we were going....they slept overnight in the car while we all drove down. This is their faces in the morning when they saw where we were.

Don't you love naps...they're so cozy and comfey.

Is Tallulah the good one and Truman is the evil one? I just want to know for next year. How do you tell them apart?

Someone posted this over on the Podcast board... THIS is Oasis of the Seas...

I'll take my Magic, Wonder, Dream and Fantasy anyday... :thumbsup2

It looks like an instutional to me. like a big hospital or something. :rolleyes1

I still find it hard to believe that when the table linen committee met this morning, they actually took Thanksgiving 2010 into account!

Have we overwhelmed them yet?

Thinking forward while looking back.

A slideshow of photos from Eastwood Manor Thanksgiving 2008

http://iankh.smugmug.com/photos/swfpopup.mg?AlbumID=6660479&AlbumKey=b2Vwd

You want to come and design a kitchen for me?

You mean we didn't do that today???

Table Linen Committee Report

Eastwood Manor now has matching tablecloths for the dining table with both leaves inserted and the second table with both leaves pulled out to extend it. The Manor also has matching napkins for 16.

What about the Kids table?

It really is a drag going to BB&B alone. Houseware stores and hardware stores are a lot like sex, absorbing, but so much better with someone else there.

:rolleyes1 :rolleyes1

I hear Tallulah will be up all night watching Hitchcock movies and planning revenge... ;)
