Hi Deb!!!

I tend to save my extra points for special treats I want... like this morning I still went to Olivers for brunch...

& I've decided that towards the end of the week we'll have pizza... at Carms... but I've figured points for that...

I think it helps to have the right foods in the house to begin with... and yes... I still have candy and cookies in the house... mom still lives here...

I'm sort of amazed that I've gotten through this far with only small things bothering me... quite an improvement over last year.

Nothing? Who chooses healthy over chocolate? I never did that before.:lmao::lmao::lmao:

The NEW you???

The You that wants to be healthy and feel good...

The one who puts her leg before the chocolate...

The one who wants to dance on Mickey Ships....

& the one who buys :lovestruc sparkly things...

THAT'S who... :goodvibes

I went to see Ray today at Mrs. Bush's. He's getting worse mentally. They called during the week to tell me that Ray's electric razor doesn't work. We just replaced the heads on it before vacation because he said he liked it and mom bought it for him. So we couldn't figure out why it wasn't working.

We cleaned it and charged it and it's working fine. For the past two years, he has been doing this himself. Now he wasn't able to. So I went there to give it back to him and explain that he has to charge it and clean it. I don't think he's going to. I'll have to call Mrs. Bush on Monday and find out if they will help him do this. Otherwise, I have to show up there and do it for him. It's only going to keep getting worse with him. He's very healthy physically. It's just mentally that he's deteriorating. Very sad. I never want to be like that.

That's a tough one... I remember when my grandfather started to go that way... we ended up getting him into a nice nursing home near my aunt... not many are nice, but this is one.

Maybe along the way he may need more help.

 :hug:for you...

You can't compare last year to this year...you were a mess. That's not the right time to do this. You'll be very successful now because you're ready.

....John still lives here and we don't have candy and cookies in the house during the week. If he wants anything he has to have it outside of the house or hide it in the bedroom and keep it out of the kitchen. It's not so hard for him to do because he's not a sweets eater. He would rather have bread and food items for his goodies. Either way, he has to support me in my effort. He does not smoke in front of me either. As it should be.

I would support him in anything he wanted to do. It works two ways. It's harder for you because yours is not a partner relationship. Mother and daughter is different. I would still ask her to hide the cookies though.:rolleyes1

Actually I have to ask her to stop eating my 100 cal. packs... :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

I have that same problem with Tyler! :rotfl2: He likes to sneak extras in his backpack for school in case he wants more than one snack any time. I recently found 4 packs of my 100 cal treats in his backpack! ;)

The Lorna Doones and the Breakfast treats disappear...

Ahhh ladies...

Marilyn's gonna be on any minute now... followed by Deborah... :flower3: :flower3:

I just hope he can stay at Mrs. Bush's....especially now that I don't have to pay for it anymore. He loves it there, it's convenient for me because it's just down the road in the next town over and they are great with him. It's family owned and they really take good care of him. It feels like someone's house not in any way a facility.

It upset me a little tonight when I went into his room. I had given him pictures of my nephews in frames. He took them down and put them in a drawer. He has his daughter and her kids' pictures out and he has pictures of mom. It's so sad that I'm the one taking care of him and he doesn't even recognize my side of the family anymore. He did when mom was alive. Not anymore.

Last Christmas I paid for him to send Christmas gifts to his daughter and I didn't even get a card. Mrs. Bush took some residents out to the store. I have a petty cash account that I pay into and Mrs. Bush holds for him for when he goes out so that he has pocket money. It's just a slap in the face to me. While his daughter has never even been here to see him. Still he's devoted to her and her family and we're all just chopped liver. OUCH!

Deb... I know it's hard... but when they start to lose the mental capacities... they go back to what they remember most... In the end... my grandmother didn't recognize me as a grown up, but she knew me from pictures from long ago...

It's not you... and it's not really him... it's just what age does to them.

Try not to let it bother you... I know it's tough...
