OK nighty night....

GOOD MORNING Marilyn and Deborah!!!!

Yeah... what she said... :thumbsup2

come on Holly... lets sneak off and get to sleep before THEY come and keep us up for hours... (don't worry... Marilyn won't be able to milk all those cows before you wake up...)

I took a nap this afternoon - still getting over this cold... how about you deb? Feeling any better?

Glad you're feeling better some, Michelle. I know how the cold wipes you out. I've been sleeping more. I actually sound worse than I feel now. It's getting better.

Canadian Football wiped them out... :rotfl2:

Football Day in America tomorrow. Jets are playing the Raiders and then the Giants play the Cards at night. GO RAIDERS....GO GIANTS!!!

Good morning. clocks went back last night so I think we are 6 hours different for a while. I love these clock chang days.

Not much time for replying, sorry.

Last night I wrote a huge post about my FREAKY FRIDAY but then the boards went down and I lost it :headache: I haven't the energy to retype it but here's the short version:

I opened the cash office at work at 7:00 AM (our store opens at 8:00)
At about 7:20 I turned around from the safe, walked to my counter, looked out my window overlooking the store......................and was staring at the back of a man holding a rifle aimed out at the store(I'm up on the second floor):scared1::scared1::scared1::faint:

Turns out the man was hired to come and shoot a bird that has been in the store for some time :sad2::sad2::sad2:

No one told me he was coming into the store

I almost called 911 (long story why that didn't happen). Can you imagine if the Swat Team had arrived, what excitement we would have had then!

By the way, the bird escaped ;)

I spent the day at work but cried off and on all day from the shock and fear of the morning, then bought a bottle of wine on the way home :(

Wow, that is truly scary Kathe.

I was thinking green bean casserole with the soup and onion things on top :rotfl2::lmao:

If anyone brought a greenbean casserole they would not be permitted to bring it in the house. They'd have to eat it in the garage or on the front porch. Sort of the same if they want to have a cigarette.

Ian :flower3::flower3::flower3:

I keep looking over your menu and drooling. Will there be any time for sharing recipes??? The veggies all sound so good ::yes::
Of course I'll share recipes! No one's ever asked me, except for Nan, who has made the Bourbon Candied Sweet Potatoes.

If anyone else is on Epicurious I can also share recipes there too.

I just hope he can stay at Mrs. Bush's....especially now that I don't have to pay for it anymore. He loves it there, it's convenient for me because it's just down the road in the next town over and they are great with him. It's family owned and they really take good care of him. It feels like someone's house not in any way a facility.

It upset me a little tonight when I went into his room. I had given him pictures of my nephews in frames. He took them down and put them in a drawer. He has his daughter and her kids' pictures out and he has pictures of mom. It's so sad that I'm the one taking care of him and he doesn't even recognize my side of the family anymore. He did when mom was alive. Not anymore.

Last Christmas I paid for him to send Christmas gifts to his daughter and I didn't even get a card. Mrs. Bush took some residents out to the store. I have a petty cash account that I pay into and Mrs. Bush holds for him for when he goes out so that he has pocket money. It's just a slap in the face to me. While his daughter has never even been here to see him. Still he's devoted to her and her family and we're all just chopped liver. OUCH!
:hug::hug::hug::hug::hug:

Ian:

These are the recipes I need from this year :worship:

Mashed Potatoes with Homemade Ranch Dressing
Brussel Sprouts with Garlic, Pecans and Basil
Pumpkin Bread Pudding with Caramel Sauce

I'll be adding the first 2 to the Bourbon Candied Sweet Potatoes from last year

I'll save the dessert for Paul's bday 12/5 he loves bread pudding so this will be a nice twist for his bday dinner (I'm not a pumpkin girl, so I'll have a lemon dish for Tday)

Kathe, that is a frightening story  feel safe
:

Nan,

I sent them to your Yahoo address directly out of Epicurious, so check your spam folder in case they end up in there.

OK what's wrong with me...I have chocolate brownies and Hershey kisses in the house...small amounts that will be at the kid's house Sunday night...and I have daily points still available and what do I choose to eat...string cheese. Two pieces for 2 points. I had a small amount of chocolate today and I'm good. I'll eat a little more tomorrow and then it goes next door and out of my house. See Ian, you need a child living next door so you can throw leftovers to them. I use weekly points on weekends only so I'll splurge a little, but then it doesn't stay in the house during the week.

I can't believe I chose the cheese over the chocolate. :confused3 and I still have daily points left as well as borrowed weekly points.

I think eventually you get used to eating healthy and it feels better so you continue to do so.

Going to get some pears now....one point....no sugar added by Del Monte in a small can. Gotta go for those happy faces online. I love those. It makes me so happy when I see them pop up and it steers me toward what I need to eat more of each day.
Wow, this is great. It's when when it starts to become habit and not something you have to think about. That's wonderful!

You can't compare last year to this year...you were a mess. That's not the right time to do this. You'll be very successful now because you're ready.

....John still lives here and we don't have candy and cookies in the house during the week. If he wants anything he has to have it outside of the house or hide it in the bedroom and keep it out of the kitchen. It's not so hard for him to do because he's not a sweets eater. He would rather have bread and food items for his goodies. Either way, he has to support me in my effort. He does not smoke in front of me either. As it should be.

I would support him in anything he wanted to do. It works two ways. It's harder for you because yours is not a partner relationship. Mother and daughter is different. I would still ask her to hide the cookies though.:rolleyes1
There has been a "halo-effect" for John too, hasn't there? He's lost some weight and he's also benefiting from eating healthier.

Anybody ever thought about booking a vacation with Adventures By Disney?

Look what I just found out:

Just FYI, starting Monday, when you book an eligible Adventures by Disney trip for depatures October 26, 2009 through January 15, 2010, you get a free 3 night Disney cruise.:)

Anyone up for a last minute vacation?

.

I would love to....but I'm a little overbooked right now. hahaha...as if that's possible.

I remember looking into Adventures when I first found out about it. I would LOVE to do it. I think that they were very pricey when I checked. See what you find out. I'm curious to know.

Yes Ian, it has been good for John too. Just by osmosis he's eating better because he eats what I do in the house. I can't say what he eats outside of the house. At least it's halfway better. He has lost some weight too....without intentionally trying. He feels better too.

It's like Marilyn said onboard the first day of Tortola....I watched Ian eat a bowl of fruit instead of all those deserts. I had some fruit with my food that day and skipped desert completely. It just becomes what you want after a while. That is great and wonderful!

Not even fit for T& T to eat! hahahaha.:lmao::lmao:

and who makes them a few times a year and just shared it with her friend here for the huge yam she got from the garden :thumbsup2

Nan,

thanks for sending and telling me (I don't always remember to look at yahoo), you've made them before right?

I'm thinking we are cooking just for the 4 of us this year. I get a little down this time of year thinking of my dad, so sometimes it's just better to hang out alone and low...

OMG, they should give a 7 night for the prices of AbD I looked at the China prices and passed out :scared1: Molly and I did a China tour for 1/4 of Disney costs.

I'm still waffeling about TA EB with Willie. It just seems like a lot of sea days doing nothing (which is fine for me) but I think he will get loney and bored. I'd want to sit on my lounger and in the cafe cove :rolleyes1

Since I have a pretty big deposit on it $1.2K I'm thinking about breaking that up and saving a few others. My thoughts are that I'll also want to go at the last minute and rebook when the price drops. Who knows...time will tell.

Today Molly and I are going to see a play at Notre Dame High School. It's the all girls high school she is looking at going to. The play is quiet somber, its about Bosian refugees. I hope she is ok with it. I want to take her to see the other kind of theater she could do.

The boys are mowing the lawn here and at our rental. They plan on going to the track TOMORROW for Speed's first day back on the track :thumbsup2
I wish I could go with them, maybe I will...hmmm they are going with friends might not be room for me, or they might not want mommy around either :sad2:

Willie season ended yesterday at the last race at Infineon. His friend from So Cal won the season, not sure where Willie came in, maybe 6th or 7th. He had all those great points from the first 4 races. HA he beat Chole :lmao: She only raced with the Nor Cal group twice and sucked both times :rotfl2: So much for the big winner from last year

I hope we will get to do the AZ race in Jan 2010 and see the SouthWestern fan club :grouphug:

Off to shower leaving in 45 minutes :flower3:

Can't get on any games, gotta run but wanted to say HI!
