You are really sweet! I will always say that the WB repo was the most magical cruise I have ever taken or will take. And it is all because of the people!

His name was Nader. (pronounced nodder) Some of the people he worked with started a facebook memorial site for him that I discovered a few months ago. http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=9646286900&ref=ts

Lots of funny stories there that kinda highlight how loved he was!

How wonderful. Thanks for providing the link, I will definitely spend some time there getting to know Nader a little bit. How thoughtful of his coworkers. He truely was very loved and always will be!!

I have to agree that the people on this one cruise are the most special in all of the Disboards that I have met so far. We all really care about each other and love each other. It's real.

Thanks Tammy... I checked out the link... & you're right... it was the people...

Sure... my family couldn't get me down to their house for Thanksgiving... but I showed up 3 days later for a dismeet... :lmao:

CAN YOU BELIEVE IT'S GONNA SNOW IN HOUSTON BEFORE IT SNOWS HERE??????

Brian's hoping for a snow day... what was the trick that Lisa used to have the kids do when they were wishing for a snow day??? :rolleyes1

Houston? No way! :rotfl:

We only ended up with just a dusting, barely enough to see. :sad2:

I don't know how much they got... but I had to text driving instructions to my nephew :rolleyes1

Well... it is snowing in Houston... my sister hasn't driven in snow in 18 years... and Brian has never done so... I have texted him instructions on how to put the car into 2nd gear and beware of black ice... hopefully they will cancel the Xmas show he's in tonight...

& I still think it's unfair that he gets snow 24 hours before I do... :rotfl:

Wow, I honestly didn't think it could snow there, I thought your earlier post was just joking.

I am way behind and haven't read anything except the current page. It was a crazy week for me, and I stayed off the Dis to get stuff done. I'm happy to say that I wrote my final exam for the current course this week, and feel confident that I passed. I'm even happier to say that I'm not starting another course right away. :goodvibes

:grouphug::grouphug: Kathe, sending hugs to you, for the loss of your brother.:grouphug::grouphug:

Wow, congrats Shannon! Now you can relax for a while. :cloud9:

They've had snow 3 times since moving there... once was actually ON Christmas... they were SO excited... they called to tell me... :goodvibes

Cold here today. It's currently 26F/-3C.

Well the end of a L O N G and rather stressful week.

How odd that only a week ago there was all the holiday season hubbub at Eastwood Manor.

But you can watch your Thanksgiving videos over and over to re-live the fun! :goodvibes

 Wow Tammy, I just spent some time reading everything there and what a great man Nader was! Super handsome too. He clearly touched the lives of lots of people, he was loved by so many. With your last name, I'd wondered what nationality he was. Did you ever go visit his family in Iran? Not trying to be nosey, it's just that I enjoyed reading about him.

Okay, I read through it all to get caught up!

Looks like the NY dismeet was a lot of fun. Everybody looked great!

Deborah - glad to hear you got to see a bit of Canada, even it was from up high in an airplane :goodvibes

Deb - sorry to hear your leg is acting up again.:grouphug::flower3:

Marilyn - sorry to hear you were stuck on such a horrible disturbing case.

Nan - sorry to hear about your MIL, and congrats on not getting the job you really didn't want :goodvibes

Holly -sorry to hear your mouse problems continue

Ian - hope all is working out okay with the new manager

Oh and before I forget...

Ken... Shannon...

I have read that the Royal Queen of Said Place of Marilyn's Birth :hippie: is coming to visit Canada next summer... WHY Quesnel is NOT on her list of historical places to visit.. I just can't comprehend...

Would you like me to send my diplomats to visit HER diplomats to see if we can get this worked out?

We MUST keep peace between our Kingdoms...

The Royal Queen of Marilyn's birth, is also officially the Royal Queen of my homeland too. Apparently she won't make it to my neighbourhood this trip, but she did make it to my birthplace once years ago, and it was a successful visit with no diplomatic issues. Can you work your magic and fix her schedule for me?

Shannon...

For YOU... I will employ my diplomatic team immediately... or as soon as they get through with their usual Saturday Morning Chores with Mrs. Fezziwig.

I cannot guarantee entrance to the State Dinner honoring the Queen of YOUR country too... so... in light of that... how are you at crashing parties??? ;);) :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

When it comes to crashing parties, I have never tried - I'll have to add it to the list of things I really should try one day. Let me know when you're having a party and I'll try to crash it :lmao::lmao:

Well done Shannon. You should be able to really relax this christmas now.

I'm still loopy and sleepy since I'm on Vicodin. I soaked today and cleaned with Iodine....no pumping and no exercise bike today. I have started antibiotics but we won't know if they're the right ones until the culture comes back on Tuesday. Then we'll switch if we need to. But he wanted to get me started on something immediately. I'm taking Bactrim. I took it for the last infection. I'm soaking and wrapping all by myself without John being home. This is the first time in two years that I'm able to do that. It helps ease the burdon off of John.

The doctor basically said that the infection lies dormant under the surface, like a volcano, and then flares up from time to time. We clear up the surface, but we can't reach under the scars and bumps to clear it up completely. He said think of an ear of corn. There are tiny crevices hidden below the surface where it lingers. He's thinking about it and he suggested trying some sort of water pressure treatment when we clear it up on the surface again. We have to get it there first and we're working on that right now.

You just have to keep going doing what you are doing at the moment Deb. It is some achievement that you are actually soaking and wrapping yourself too. I hope the doctor comes up with something that will help the underlying issues.

Hi Shannon!!! :yay:

Deb... did the Dr. say anything about soaking the leg IN bubbly instead of taking it Orally???

Trust you!!!:lmao:

Hi Tammy. This cruise was very special indeed. I do hope we get to meet again.

I will be looking at that link, thanks for posting. How comforting to know he was loved so much by so many people.

It sounds heavenly Ian. And will we be doing jigsaw puzzles in our footy pajamas? That's the best way to do them ya know.

Sukie has been wearing his footy pajamas and achieving maximum coziness. I haven't started wearing mine yet.

I'm glad that the weekend is here.

We're leaving the house soon to do our normal Saturday morning errands. I'm quite happy to be getting back to our normal routine.

The week was crazy and stressful. I met my new boss and as I said, I only had an hour of one-on-one time with him which wasn't nearly enough. I really don't have a much clearer sense of direction than I did before this week.

I was not alone, as all of my colleagues are also very stressed out. I don't think there's any fault, but the transition has been very abrupt. Literally overnight a new culture descended and roles shifted, so the cause of anxiety is folks aren't entirely clear about roles and expectations.

There is a management book that is considered nearly the bible at the new company. I started a book discussion group so that we could read it, analyze it and assimilate the information. Yesterday we met for the first time, and it was really a housekeeping meeting, discuss how we will organize ourselves. It turned into a very nice "group therapy" session, and was extremely helpful for those who attended to realize that they were not alone in their feelings or anxiety.

My new manager seems like a pretty good guy so that's a good thing, but without any track record with him, I'll have to reserve judgement further.

I just have to get on with things and find a way forward, that all that it boils down to. I also consider myself fortunate to still have a job and to have been kept as part of the post acquisition staff.

The one striking thing that I realized in talking to my new manager and some of the other NY people all of whom are younger than I, which I've also posted on Facebook, is that my whole sense of self and values have changed.

Perhaps it a function of getting older, but my "career," "getting ahead," and "success" don't mean the same thing to me anymore.

Having someone talk to me about my career is almost like listening to a foreign language. Of course I want to be employed and very much want to be engaged in what I'm working on, but I'm no longer willing to sacrifice my life to do it.

I suppose my values and priorities took a serious shift as I've gotten older.

Well said my friend...

I think we all come to that conclusion sometime in our lives... that a job is what we do... not who we are... and having a life is a good thing... I aim to do that myself one of these days...
