Who are you and why have you joined our thread?:confused3:rolleyes1:snooty:

Irishcowboy is the DISer who keeps the master list (of links) to the DCL meets threads. He's subscribed on all the meets threads I'm on. I think it's so he will be aware when each group moves to a new thread, he can provide the link on the stickey.

I'll be back to catch up as soon as "Bones" is over.....................

.

Of course!!!

By the way, how are your ranches doing?

I have to go check and see if Planky's is dead yet...

All my ranches? On CountryLife? I think I only have one........unless I'm confused. :confused3

ONLY one???? I'm sure by NOW you have at least 3... :rotfl:

We are doing lots of videos this year for our Eastwood Manor Thanksgiving. We completed the first of the series yesterday,"Polishing the Silver."

You can view it on Facebook or below:

Mom wants to know just how many forks you guys have?:rolleyes1

Popping in to say hello!

HOLLY - Great non-scale-victory! You are doing great again!:cool1::thumbsup2

Nan - good luck with whatever you choose to do!

Hi Marilyn, Ian, Michelle, and everybody else who will be popping in!:goodvibes

Hi Shannon!!!

Dianne is welcome to come to Eastwood Manor! She shouldn't be all on her own.

Ohhh wait... that's cheating... oh... forget it... Cheri got there first... ;)

Hi Friends....Gobble Gobble....Turkey's coming. I love Turkey day. I love Turkey and all the trimmings and being with family and friends....well next year, this year it's just me and John with the kid and Ray.

I'm feeling washed out and exhausted. I can't stay awake. I don't know if I'm coming down with a bug or doing too much without steroids....I've been pushing myself on the exercise bike and using bottles of water as weights doing extra arm exercises. I'm not sure what it is but I just wish it would go away.

Shell, I'm still coming to lunch with you and Barb and Deb. Nothing could keep me away. Besides, I don't feel sick....just tired.

Ian, I used to get the job of polishing the silver every year at mom's house. The last year that she cooked we got that tray that you put in the sink with hot water and I think some baking powder. All the silverware got done all together and very quickly. It really works. I wonder where that silverware set is now. I'll have to ask my brother since he cleared out the house because I could not.

Nan, go with your gut. I know you have already done all the pros and cons. Now just sleep on it and then you'll know what to do. It sounds like you're leaning toward the full time job. That's probably very wise in this job climate.

AND WHERE IS MONICA??????????????? I hope she is ok. I know she was having migrains again.

Holly, awesome job getting right back on program again. At least you know what works and any time you stray, you can come right back and make it work again.

Jackie, you too. So happy to hear that you're brown bagging some healthy choices for lunch. Also, I hope Dianne decides to attend the Eastwood Manor Extravaganza for Turkey dinner. She'll have a lot of fun and good laughs. Did you hear our table on the Tortola cruise? Ian says it's tenfold at Turkey dinner.

Gydell, WOW....do you ever stay home? It sounds like such a good time. I'm so jealous. Enjoy your delicious dinner.

Shannon, I'm so glad the girls love soccer and that you have found a way to get your exercise in too while watching.

Marilyn, I'm glad you got on the case. It makes it so interesting. Sorry that it's such a bad crime. Remember to have an open mind before judging.

Kaz, it's going to be so worth it when all the work at home is done. It teaches you to have patience until then.

Kathe, where are you? It's been a couple of days. I bet you're really busy with work and home.

Deborah, I know you won't read this until you get back home. By then we'll have already had our luncheon meeting. I'm sure it will be a good time and I can't wait.

Hi Bubba, Hi V......Happy Gobble Gobble day. What are your plans? Where are you going to eat Tom?

Speaking of Tom, I used to always tease him as a kid that we were going to have him for dinner on Turkey day. He knew that I was kidding, but he used to get so flustered. haha. Sandi says he's doing well now. He's working as a travelling salesman. I'm not sure what that involves. I'll get more details in January when we see Sandi before our cruise. At least Tom has a job. Sandi says he loves it. I hope it lasts.

OMG people....I'm cruising in a little more than one month. I'm already packed and ready to go and I can't wait....to be in my favorite place in the whole wide world.....5122.

Well I'm one pound up from my last weight before Godiva chocolate cake and birthday week. That's not so bad. It was worth it. I'm back on program, strictly sticking to eating good points. It'll come right back off again except that Turkey Day is the day before weigh in. That's not so good. But I'll be very careful about what I eat and how much I eat. We won't have any leftovers since we're going out so that's a plus. If I gain another pound it'll be ok. It'll come right off the following week. It comes off a lot faster with exercising so I'm not worried.

The hardest part about losing weight is that I never know what size I am anymore. But as long as the sizes keep going down, I can deal. :hippie::hippie::hippie:

Deb... relax in the car on the way to lunch and we will have the bubbly ready to help you get ready...

& I do believe that Monica is getting ready to leave for her Thanksgiving with her mom's family... she'll be back... :flower3:

I just watched the Eastwood Manor - Polishing the Silver video. OMG I laughed so hard. I told John he HAS to see it. He said he'll check it out tomorrow. He's down for the night already tonight. He gets up at 5:00 am so he turns in early. Thanks Ian for doing this and sharing it with us. It's the next best thing to being there.

Nan, by now you should be getting out of your interview. I'm sure it went well. I thought about it for you and I would take the road less stressful. That's the FT job that you just interviewed for right? Less stress and a steady paycheck will go a long way. Whatever you decide, I'm sure it will be the right choice for you and the family. Good Luck!

I made mom get out of bed to see it... :lmao:

Is anyone having problems with FB lately? For the past few days, everytime I click on something it says....Ooopppsss Error. I gave up.

Yup... it's screwy again... I lost a whole tank of fish yesterday... they didn't even get to die first...

Uh oh, here's that bully Nana again. :rotfl2:

Tell him he's lucky it's not Monday... :scared:

HEY BUBBA!!!!

I PROMISE NOT TO TELL YOU WHO WON DANCING WITH THE STARS...

BUT (S)HE WAS REALLY GOOD...:banana::banana:

Mums the word!!!!

I won't tell... nope... not me... :rolleyes1

Planky, however can be bribed on Sunday... ;)

Mom wants to know just how many forks you guys have?:rolleyes1

Just dinner forks, or both dinner and salad/dessert forks? Also do you want to know silver or silver and flatwear?

If you count all of them we have 52 forks.

Actually she just wants to know if she'll have to go dumpster dig like she does after she counts the real silver that she has... (it's an annual tradition to do the silver count and then go grab the old flowery kids umbrella with the hook on the end so you can sift through and find the forks before they go bye bye... :upsidedow)

We've never counted. To my knowledge we've never lost any, although the big pain is when the flatwear gets mixed in with the silver.

I was just looking at the cost of real silver for a service for 8 as opposed to plate. We're definitely too poor for solid silver. I won't spend that much on a cruise, let alone forks.

I suppose one would expect to get such things as a wedding present.

I bought the 2 sets of silver when I lived in the UK. I thought is was very odd that that they do not do service for 8. I think they do service for 6, 10 and 12, whereas here in the US, it's either 8 or 12.

I bought 2 service for for 6's during a holiday in Edinburgh.

I don't think she'd worry as much with flatware... but the silver... (lucky me... I'm the only one in the family that knows it's REAL!!!)

& you've inspired us to take out the good stuff tomorrow and use it... Luckily I know how to count to 10 cause there's only 2 of us and we won't need as many forks!!!

BTW... the season HAS begun... the QM has purchased her very first container of many of egg nog... she has the Seagrams VO out on the counter... and she will be VERY happy while cooking tomorrow... :hippie:

I do believe her good stuff was a wedding gift... then again... she only paid a couple of $ each for her Hummels too...

&&&& our Nativity came from Woolworths and we still have the .37 price tags on the bottom of the 3 wise men... :thumbsup2

Someone was asking about Monica. Deb maybe? Anyway I seem to remember that she was going away somewhere for a family Thanksgiving - getting all the family together. Not Maryland at her sister's but more north I think with older family members. That is all I can remember.

She's gone to Michigan to visit with her mother's family... :grouphug:

That dishwasher turkey recipe is too funny!:lmao:

I'm feeling tired and lazy and decided to take a quick check in here, before getting back to work. This afternoon, I'm going to get my exercise by moving around a bunch of 4ft x 4ft x 17mm boards and cutting them up. Since each panel weighs 40 pounds, I count it as exercise!:thumbsup2

This has been a long day and the hardest. I find making stuffing to be very tedious and I hate making the base for the gravy.

We did have one disaster this afternoon. I am brining the turkey this year. I've never done this before. We had a brining catastrophe. I didn't have Sukie on hand to hold the plastic brining bag. Let's just say that a one point, the kitchen in Eastwood Manor resembled the wave pool at Typhoon Lagoon. A gallon of salt water splashing down the counter and onto the floor. The only good thing was that I wasn't up the specified 2 gallons yet.

So, I had to start all over again. Wash the turkey, drag it back down to the fridge in the basement, make the brine, cool the brine and then start again.

This time Sukie helped. The brining bag is huge zip bag, but after that was sealed we also tied the top. And we tied the top. And we tied the top.

By the time we were done, the whole thing resembled some bizarre act of poultry bondage.

It's the most ridiculous thing I've ever read. I'm surprised there wasn't a recipe in the NY Post for Alien Abduction Turkey.

I haven't check this out yet, but I think the Alien Abduction story is scheduled for tomorrows Post.:rotfl2:
