Glad you are there safe!!! :thumbsup2
The drive didn't seem as awfully long as usual. Tyler and I kept ourselves entertained. He doesn't mind the long ride a bit. I'm surprised I wasn't tired since I only got about 3 hours of sleep last night! My dryer decided to stop working last night, so I kept checking and checking and my clothes would not dry. The heat wasn't coming on, so it was just tossing my clothes around in cold air. Then it took me quite a while to find the DVD player. When I found it, it didn't have the cord with it to plug it into the car, so I looked and looked, with no luck. I did have the cord to plug it into the wall, so I did that to recharge the battery. Something happened on our way because it only played for about a 1/2 hour. Big bummer for Tyler.

Can't keep my eyes open any longer. Goodnight all! :cloud9:

I just finished registering for our Oct cruise. Got everything I wanted in under 10 minutes. Kind of weird - only 3 people from the cruise are on the boards tonight and no fishes...

Night Holly :goodvibes

Hello all.

hope everyone had a good 4th of July.

We made a decision about the kayak and purchased the single seater Pungo 120. Well actually I think the decision was made for us. When we went to the store to purchase the tandem, the store owner informed me he gave me the wrong price last time and the price was actually $1600!! That was practically a $300 price difference. There is no way I was prepared to pay that much. So we went to the other store and picked up the single seater. We tested it with Shaelyn and myself in the boat and it seemed to be pretty good. Or at least good enough until she is ready for her own kayak.

Tomorrow the plan is to try and put the new boat into the water. Hopefully the weather will cooperate.

Thanks! We arrived safely. We didn't leave at 4am.....or 5am.....I just told myself we'd leave whenever we woke up and did not set my alarm. But it worked out. Tyler woke up at 5:30am and asked if it was time to go, so we did. By the time we got on the road, it was 6:20am and we got here at about 4:30pm. It took longer than it should have because we stopped at Fort Boonesborough: http://www.fortboonesboroughlivinghistory.org/

This was AWESOME and Tyler, being the huge history buff that he is, absolutely loved it. The guy who played Daniel Boone was great too. Well worth stopping. We spent over an hour there. Tyler wanted to buy a replica of the rough draft of the Declaration of Independence, so guess what I had to read to him before bed. :headache: Not very easy reading with the handwriting and things crossed off, etc. And he also got a map of the Revolutionary War battlefields.

When we got here, Tyler was in the pool before I even had all our unloaded from the car. ;) We stayed in the pool about five hours! There were tons of people here, lots of food by the pool, and the fireworks were very cool and big and loud! I love how they echo off the mountain behind the house! Finally dragged Tyler to bed at midnight and he was asleep before my laptop even booted up. :rotfl2: I plan on sleeping in tomorrow. I'm sure he can swim with his cousin Elizabeth and the other adults can keep an eye on him. He only slept about an hour on the way here, so he might sleep late too.

I believe the plan for tomorrow is to hang around here by the pool and possibly get the jet skis into the river behind the house. :thumbsup2

Glad you got there safely and had a good trip. Sounds a lot of fun for Tyler, and having other there should make it easier for you - and fun too of course.:lmao:

Just back and a lovely afternoon tea!!

Choice of sandwiches. I had Yorkshire Ham, and Egg mayonnaise(not together). Then a good size scone with strawberry preserve and a large portion of clotted cream, followed by 3 small pastries. A fresh fruit tartlet, layered coffee cake, and a lemon macaroon which was scrummy!! All washed down with a pot of tea.

John took a pic on his IPhone, so I might get that on here.:confused3

John just went with the toasted fruit teacake and a vanilla slice, and some elderflower bubbly. On the way back I said to him tha mine was very special but his wasn't special at all. He said.........'every day is special with you':rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

Sounds wonderful. How I really miss a proper English tea.

We went to a 4th of July party yesterday, which was also a tacky gift/white elephant exchange. Stealing gifts was permitted and several made the rounds.

I had 2 stolen from me, a Vanessa Williams CD and a talking Dr. Laura doll.

The last gift I selected was not stolen which made me happy. It was three 8-track tapes still in their original packaging! I now have Hello Dolly, Carousel, and Oklahoma! on 8-track, mint in package (can you tell it was a gay party?).

I'm going to have to check out eBay later.

Nobody stole Sukie's gift. Sukie got 2 heart shaped candles that he managed to "forget" on top of a trash can on the way home.

A few other gifts were stolen quite a bit, including a fiber optic light-up Jesus, quite the conversation piece and a noble addition to any home decor theme, and a fur jock strap, which I suppose could be practical in Chicago winters. The only perplexing this, was the jock strap was stolen several times by straight women who were of a "certain age." I'm really not sure what was going on there.

It was a fun party. HUGE apartment, duplexed and floor-space about 4 times the size of our house.

Not a very good neighborhood. We had to on to another bus stop on the way home, because a drug deal was going on at the bus stop closest to the apartment.

Amazing sometimes how neighborhoods change from block to block here.

This morning, I have my 3 normal WW meetings. I wonder what attendance is going to be like, given that it's a holiday weekend. Don't these people know that I need my vacation money? My pay is not solely based on attendance, but the larger the meeting the more the pay, and it is how I pay for vacations.

Maybe those 8-track will be worth a fortune.

Ken,

So you now have a kayak? You know they make a cream for that. It's easily treated.

You're the very first person I've ever known with a kayak.

Actually, it sounds like fun.

If we lived in a part of the continent that was as beautiful as your part, we'd be outside a lot more too.

I can't really say that the prairies are all that inspiring. Good farm land, but boring to look at.

I wonder what Sukie would say if I said, "Let go kayaking?"

I recently showed him the brochures of the Alaskan cruises. I told him we could spend a few extra days and perhaps go hiking or maybe fishing, and he looked at me and said (exact quote), "And who were you planning to go on this cruise with?"

There was a Monorail crash at the Epcot station this morning - 2am ish. The driver of one was killed. One monorail crashed into the back of a stationary one.

How very very sad. Something must have gone very wrong with the safety system. I didn't think that could happen.

Thoughts are with the driver's family.
