I do remember once having a fabulous time sitting outside the Boardwalk Bakery just having a really good coffee and a big slice of chocolate/peanut butter layer cake.

Oh, and I remember having a lovely breakfast 'sandwich' and doing the same thing....way back in Jan of 05.

I wouldn't mind trying to squeeze in a stop at the Brown Derby for a slice of grapefruit cake...while sitting on their patio, watching the folks go by at DHS.......:lovestruc

.

The cakes are lovely at the Boardwalk Bakery, but unfortunately the coffee is just the normal Disney rubbish.

You have hit my key Disney World hot button, the coffee at WDW!

How in this day and age can they be serving that garbage Nescafe coffee. Who in their right minds would be serving instant coffee!

That's all it is, coffee powder and hot water. Someone please tell Disney that it is not 1955 anymore and the world has moved on from instant coffee.

You're on babe!!!!!!

By the way, here is a Mouse Manager Tip:

Want some of the yummy food of the Brown Derby without the prices? The food at Starring Rolls comes from the Brown Derby Kitchen next door!

Unfortunately, they do not sell all the desserts at Starring Rolls.

(I almost mistyped this as "Staring Rolls." How creepy would that be?)

Oh, and I seem to recall that my "really good coffee" at the Boardwalk Bakery was a double espresso.

Do they still do espresso there? That's one of the locations that too difficult for me to keep abreast of menu for Mouse Manager. I just generalize about it on my site.

Jackie can confirm that I am very fond of good layer cake.

As most of you know, I studied to be a pastry chef. My layer cake is outstanding. I truly mean it.

That is precisely why I rarely ever bake anymore. I like my own baking too much.

(You should try my butter shortbread, dipped in tempered Valrhona Chocolate. Appeals to the inner child inside every adult and the snob that that inner child is going to grow up to be.)

::yes:: (He didn't share)

This is not a good conversation to be having at 5:09PM when I'm heading out to the grocery store..................

Wachovia is a bank.

There is a Dunkin' Donuts....it's behind the CVS pharmacy - at the light at Lake Wilson & US 532 (where you would go left to go back to I4) I have heard that their coffee is yummy.

Oh thank you Monica. We will have to visit and try the coffee. And donuts of course!!

I am sure they could come up with some better tasting instant coffee though.

You're on babe!!!!!!

I forgot about Starring Rolls. We have had some very good pastries from there.

They may well do proper coffee there, but as we have had the refillable mugs we only get the other stuff!!!

Hi Connie.....I've been thinking about your BBQ this weekend and I'm so sad that I won't be there. I even asked John if he wanted to hop on a plane and go down just for the day so that we could join you all. I really wish I could be there. You'll have to take lots of pictures for me.

Thank you soooooo much for your very kind wishes and love for us. You're the BEST!!!! From your lips to God's ears!

Wish you could be here too!

You're so right Nan....but chances are very slim that he'll be hired to work in his field at another job right now. He's near 60, he's an electrician and the construction industry has bottomed out, he would never be physically able to work in the field again...he needs another desk job and he'll never earn the money that he's making now and get the benefits. He would be starting over. He's been on this job for 17 years and he's 58 years old. It's a perfect fit between him and the University. He might have to wait it out until he can be hired back. Fortunately, he's in charge of fire alarm systems on campus...including a hospital. As long as they keep it inhouse....they really don't have anyone else who knows the systems like he does. If they contract the work out....he could be a goner. We'll have to wait and see.

so, no union electricians there I assume. Almost all the work around her is union covered and so if you have the years you get the job. Hopefully things will be fine for John. Continued prayers.

:beach::rotfl:I THINK IT WILL BE TOO HOT TO SIT OUTSIDE, SO WE WILL BE IN THE HOUSE PRETENDING TO BE OUTSIDE!:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:I THINK WE ARE GOING TO TRY TO BOOK AN EASTERN CARIBBEAN CRUISE ON THE FREEDOM OF THE SEAS. WHEN IS YOUR SPECIAL BIRTHDAY! party:

I always read your large print posts in a loud voice!!!:lmao::lmao:

It is still very hot isn't it. Looking forward to tomorrow.

I think the same thing, but I really listen to Connie since she is serious about telling us what she needs to :lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao:

still waiting to get my cake for my birthday in the post, I guess I just don't rate :sad2::laughing: did ya feel a little guilty, ya I didn't think so but it was worth a try.

Ok, out for the night now. The kids and I moved all the CRAP outta our bedroom so Paul can remove the carpet and now I'm headed to Aqui to have a drink with my girl friends. This is how I avoid the dust to save my asthma....::yes:: I think Paul did buy that story :rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

YEAH!!! It's a good weigh in today....4lbs. down. I'm so happy....it's a total of 9 from my first log in three weeks ago even though I wasn't tracking the first week. Next week I'll break the 10lbs mark and be even happier. I'm going in the right direction and I'm doing it healthy. That's got to be good.

John already got the day approved to take a vacation day today so he'll be taking Ray and I'll stay home and pay bills. Tonight we'll go out to eat at Olive Garden and then onto Becky's to watch Star Trek. I'm excited. It's a great reward for doing well. I'll even watch my points at Olive Garden. I may use some weekly points for the first time.

YAY Deb! That's great! :dance3: Congrats! :yay:

Hi all!!!

Long time no see...

Well the election is over and as far as I am concerned the good guys won. Or at least the candidate that I was working for won (so did her party who will form government for a third term now).

Had a really good Election Day and the Team I was working with really came together and put my plan into action. I couldn't have asked for more out of the Team. It's really cool when a plan you put together comes out nicely and with the desired results. In 2005 she only got 5885 votes and had to wait until after 11pm to be confirmed as elected. This year she got 8663 (with absentee ballots still to be counted) and was confirmed 1.5 hours after the polls closed at 8:00pm. It was a great feeling.

But now it is over and I am trying to recharge my batteries. The best thing, I am back home with Shannon and the girls and sleeping in my own bed.

One more thing to do politics tomorrow (Conservative Party Riding Association AGM) and then it should be put to the backburner for a while.

Here's a pic of the Candidate (green outfit), Shirley Bond, and a large portion of the Team. These people became like family over the last few months.

Now here's hoping I can get caught up on this thread and not miss out on anything.

Oh and here's a couple of pics that I took on this day last year.

We called in the closer one to check what it sold and it has everything. But, I thought there was a Dunkin Donuts at Champions Gate, and I wanted coffee and donuts for lunch(some Brits say their coffee is really good), so we thought as we were picking up ice cream we had better go after. Unfortunately I was wrong about the Dunkin donuts, so we just bought one from Publix!!!!

The cakes are lovely at the Boardwalk Bakery, but unfortunately the coffee is just the normal Disney rubbish.

Marilyn...if you are shopping to have coffee to make at the Villa... :snooty: (I always wanted a villa...) get 8 O'Clock coffee... I used to work for the company and it is ALWAYS rated as one of the best regular blend coffeess out there. :thumbsup2

Cause they sponsor a pavillion... as soon as Starbucks ponies up...

For those of you spending some time at WDW, the new on line ADR booking system rolls out on MONDAY. It is available to travel agents right now!

http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2174824

IAN....CHERI...looks like June 6 is our 90 day mark. Resort reservation number will be required for booking the 90 + 10. (right now looks like booking will be available at 6AM eastern)

Monica, we need to figure out when you will be playing with us (Sat/Sun...a weekday night???) and can provide you with our list of restaurants we want to hit (you have an AP right...in case it's a park restaurant?)

Mairlyn, I've got you and John on the list for Friday 9/11 dinner, Citrico's.

PM's will be flying, I'm sure.

Reservations can be made for a party size up to 10 people. Any changes to what you book on line have to be done over the phone (apparently a cancellation can be done one line, just not a 'modification').

I wonder when the September park hours come out?????

.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY LISA!!!!

Deb - that is great about the weight loss - good job. Ian & Venetia - great diet tips about checking online and putting 1/2 food away at the start of the meal. I have to remember those!

Can you believe tomorrow is our PC anniversary day? My neighbors just left for Rome for a 12-day Princess cruise to Venice for their 40th anniversary. I ordered them flowers and the anniversary package...I'm so excited for them, and combined with seeing the beginning of your report Monica I really want to cruise!

But for now, Disneyland will have to hold me over. We decided to forgo the economy route and do Disneyland hotel - our youngest hasn't been to Disneyland and I'm just craving some magic. We leave Thursday after work, we are sneaking in the cheapest standard room that night since we will get in late (max occup is 5 but we will get in so late I don't think they wil care/notice), and then move to a 1-bedroom for the next 2 nights. We got the package through AAA so I think we get priority seating to a show. Quentin is going to wrap up the brochure along with their lanyards and we will open this week-end. I can't wait to see the kids face when they find out we are leaving on Thursday! Aidan (6) was just saying he doesn't remember any of the rides at Disneyland and really wants to go back.

The one thing I don't understand about the whole coffee thing is why Disney never partnered with Starbucks - or have they? Seems to me that would be one way to get some better coffee in the resort.

Thanks Michelle! What a nice surprise to see that after I finished my post! Glad I'm still up!

Just finished watching Taken with Liam Nelson. Not sure if I liked it...lots of fighting...

Ok...better head to bed. Heading out early in the morning. 3 baseball games and need to get ready for a huge gargage sale on Sunday. Night!
