glad to hear they are better. I was plagued by one last week and thoutgh of you, I hope I didn't send it your way :sad2:

long day today. started early (for me during summer) out the door at 9:30 with my sister and mom to attend a funeral for an old neighbor. Since I live in the house I grew up in and lots of the neighbors are still here we still all support each other that way. This neighbor & family actually moved away many years ago but since we all "grew" up together we still felt very close. It was sad and hard to go, but you do these things for the family and I'm glad I did.

My mom has such a hard time from moment to moment remembering what is going on. She knew we attended the service, but kept asking us who sat next to her and held her hand...It was my dad's best friend, my current neighbor across the street. He is 84 and out everyday puttering around his house. He and I talk every so often and reminice about my dad. It sucks getting old. :sad2:
Well, maybe I'll just send it back to you! :headache: ;)

Sorry about your former neighbor. I think it's so cool that you're living in the house where you grew up. Not many people get to do that.

Well, somehow I did manage to get everything done today that I needed to do. I dropped off 2 of Tyler's Webkinz to his dad's after work, cleaned the guinea pig cage, then lay down for a couple hours to try to get my head to quit pounding a bit. When it was down to a dull throb, I went out to mow and weedwhack my front yard, and even swept the driveway and sidewalks to clear off the chopped grass. I came inside and immediately lay down on the living room rug. My head was pounding so hard, I could feel each one all the way down to my chest, even in my cheeks. It was so bad, it made me feel more nauseous than I've felt in longer than I remember. I'm sure the heat was a big factor in making it worse, and that I sort of speed-mowed to get done as quickly as possible. BUT.....it's done and now I can get to bed. :goodvibes

A bit of sad news in town today... the 109th airwing got the news that Dr. Jerri Nielsen (the Dr. that they rescued at the South Pole) died. We are the ONLY aircraft that have skis and can get there and back.

Here's a you tube about them - mentioning her rescue...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GVRew4f9u9k

THESE are the planes that buzz my house from time to time... and I'm damned proud that they do!!! :thumbsup2:thumbsup2:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

(and yes... the skis stay on all year long...)

(Holly... I thought Tyler might get a kick out of seeing the video...)

Wow, I always forget that English schools are so much different from ours. Are Keith and your granddaughter going to what we would call "private" schools (where the parents pay extra for the student to attend)? Is that why they have to be inducted? Do they have to go in front of the board or something?

Our high schools start at about age 14...after the kids have been in school for about 8 or 9 years.....

I'll bet your high schools are about what we would call "middle school".

so interesting!!!:flower3:

mmm interesting that England and Scotland are slight different...

Scotland finish ealry in end of June or first week of July...

Return on 19 August... England return on September...

My work staff told me that their children is on holiday by tomorrow...

but return same time as our children..:confused3

Olivia was holding back for Primary one because of her cochlear implant and she will be leaving school when she will be 13...

Sounds terrible Holly!! I guess the heat won't help at all.

I didn't realise Olivia was held back because of the implant. How did she deal with that? Was she young enough not to be a problem? I'm sure the benefits are well worth it though.

Olivia had her implant when she was 2 half years old and she missed out the sound etc... but she went to nursery, she went to nursery told me that she was not ready for Primary one as all her friends started it... Oh I do remember that I was upset but the nursery was right as she was not ready that time... One year later.. she was ready for primary one when she was 5 half... now she is in primary 4/5 and after summer 5/6.. so she catch it up also see her friend too...

That is why... she will be 10 this October... I work out she might be finish with primary she will be around 12 half years old... I don't think I put her same place as Keith... I am hoping different high school which is very rare to get in St Thomas which I heard very good school for some implant childrens... which is in near town... I wait and see as must apply it within 18 months advance!!

Why I always worry all the time with kids... Keith is walking himself this morning I keep telling him watch the car as it is busying road and he said yes mum .. I asked him how you cross the road, he said if lollipop there if no, he press the button and wait for green man... I think I must be stupid to asked him this morning... worried....

Same with Ian's parent came to my house to pick me up well lucky they went to wrong way as they thought different high school... I shout hoy where are you taking me to? They look puzzled and thought that school ... I said noooo another way lol... I still laughed at them and cannot image if they didn't pick me up and they end up wrong school.... Typical...

Okay, I better go and meet my friend who I have not see for a while to catch up news as our childrens same aged...

Have a nice day....

We never stop worrying aobut our children, though once they leave home it does lessen.

It sounds like Olivia has done very well. I hope you get the school you want for her.

I'll definitely check that out at home tonight.

Wonderful!!!
Yes, I remember very well the days when migraines would hang around for 3 days.

Today after work I'm meeting a coworker and 2 former coworkers for a drink (drinks for them, diet coke for me) to gossip and catch up. Should be fun! :goodvibes

Random picture and thought.

Sometimes you need to just stop and smell the flowers.

And sometimes you are best to just leave them the heck alone ....

Sad news about Farrah but at least it's over now.

Nice to see Nan picking up the "Because I can" tag. I'm sure that made Deb happy.

Sorry I haven't been on here much, just been very busy. Today not so much. Took the day off work to take Shaelyn to school and pick her from school as it is her last day in Grade 2. It seems to be a bit of a regular affair with me or Shannon picking her up after school on her last day. Might as well take them while she wants me to keep doing so. It won't be long now when she won't...

Glad to see Michelle got her special package from us by way of Mission Kansas without too many problems.

Hard to see Ian and Rush Limbaugh as kids being tight (conservative you said?).

Beginning to wonder if Gaylean and Jon are still coming up here for camping the way she has gone into hiding. No we haven't heard much from her either. So it's not like we are off secretly talking without the rest of you.

Sitting here watching Wimbledon, not because I particularly like Tennis but because I am lazy and there is not much else on TV. I have Hellboy 2 on the PVR but figure I will wait for Shannon to watch that.

Football season is just around the corner. The regular season gets under way on Canada Day and I am looking forward to spending 6+ hours sitting in front of the HD TV watching football. However, my team lost both of it's pre-season games so it might be a long season ahead unless something happens soon. But on the positive side, it is a long season (18 games) so you never know. I am so ready for some football though...

Other than that not much else is going on. hopefully I will get to stay on here a little more regularly and help Michelle get this thread closed so this Ken guy can come back and starting posting more regularly.
