Popping on for morning coffee break.

Gaylean - no points from candy for me. The Easter bunny didn't bring the girls anything I like.:goodvibes I think your kids are having a fun time and a few days a year of the crap part of the grandparents won't replace all the good you & Jon teach them all year, and hopefully they end up with some great memories like you have of your grandmother.

Michelle - hopefully Barb's post-op appt goes well today! Did you get rid of your pebble yet?

Deborah - Hopefully something comes up that works for Ian's parents joining you on a trip. It sounds like you want it to happen :goodvibes

Connie - Welcome back! Glad you had a great trip!

Marilyn - you must be getting excited about your trip. I wish we could be getting ready to go to florida, too.

Holly - That's nice that you haven't had to get a babysitter for Tyler yet. We used a babysitter for our kids for the first time last Friday. Luckily I was able to get the 14yo daughter of a co-worker. We felt comfortable because I know and trust her father, and I know that if she had a concern, she'd call us or call her parents.

Here's a bad babysitter story. When I was 7, we were in Edmonton visiting my aunt, and the grown-ups all went out and left me, my sister (6) and my cousin (1) with a sitter. The sitter ran out of cigarettes, so she went to the store to get another pack. She took my cousin, but left me and my sister at the house  I can remember being stunned that the babysitter was leaving  We were fine, and we told our Mom later that night, so that babysitter never got used again.

Wow, that's a scary story! :scared1:

Here's the few Easter pics I have.

Gee... I was cheap... I would babysit for Dr. Pepper and cable... (back when nobody HAD cable... (the 80's G... ok???) ;)

We always had cable because we couldn't get anything without it but I do remember the days when people didn't have it ;)

Now this is a hard situation too. Of course you can prepare your children a bit before they go, but I wouldn't have wanted mine to be exposed to such bigotry, bad language and snideness when I wasn't there. On the other hand if your children are more than happy to go then they see the fun side of the trips much more than the bad side.

I hate to complain about it since they are doing us a favor. I feel happy with the decision today. We'll see what tomorrow brings.

GOOD MORNING MICHELLE

As I feel sad that Ian's parent want to come with us to Dover to Barcelona and I contaced the DU and got the prices for them... But it still too expensive for them... and in law asked me to look out if any special offer...

Which is a great shame as they cannot flight to USA well as I was telling them about Wonder Cruise 2011 but they want next year ...

Oh well I have to keep eye on it to see if any special offer but I don't think so...

Scottishwee35

We are all hoping for a special deal :rolleyes1

Just 2 weeks today and we will be off to the airport hotel ready for our flight 2 weeks tomorrow. 2 weeks on Sunday, we will be having breakfast with Ian and Sukie, V, John, Samantha and Haley, and their friend, and possibly Michelle. I haven't heard about Barb.

:dance3::yay::dance3:

I'm jealous :snooty:

Yeah, I'd fire that babysitter. I've never even used a babysitter for Tyler and I don't think I'd trust anybody unless it was somebody who I know doesn't do the things I wouldn't like.

Who watched Tyler while you were working? We've never used a paid babysitter but I think I need to find me a teenager.

I thought that this coming weekend was our last weekend at home before we leave for WDW.

I thought that Cheri was arriving a week from tomorrow!

I just realized today, that she arrives two weeks from tomorrow!

So, all the rushing around this past weekend, trying to get stuff done before Cheri arrived was all in vain. I have an entire additional week.

Partly I'm relieved, and partly po'd because I thought I was going on vacation next week.

Good thing I did start cleaning. Talk about premature.

You must be very excited about seeing us. I can understand being whipped up over it. It must be a highlight of your holiday.

I just feel like they did something right with Jon so it can't be that bad, right? He does have some pretty horrible memories of his childhood. This is actually really funny but relevant. She told me on grandparent's day that Brooke was playing with a black boy and then she said "She likes them dark, like you do". Is she talking about HER son being dark because she has never seen any of my old boyfriends :lmao: Jon's adopted for all of you that don't know it. I wonder how she feels about Brooke since she is darker than Jon.

Sounds bad too. I would hope that your kids will understand the difference in the way the Gparents and parents talk. You could use this as a teaching moment. We do want to have our kids exposed to the issues to make sure that when they are cast into "real life" arguements that they can stand their ground. Also I don't think a little bit of of anything bad can lead away a lifetime of good. The grass of course is always greener, to me your problem looks solvable or managable and mine just makes me think of what kind of physical harm the kids could be in with their grandmother. We already had a swimming mishap when Wilson was a toddler. I don't think I could ever forgive myself if her bring drunk caused my children harm. BTW, I talk to our kids about her drinking. I've heard the addictive personality skips a generation and I'm very concerned for my children when they test their drinking limits :sad2:

My kids aren't in physical harm. That's why I said it was way different. I didn't like her taking them in public when they were toddlers because she is from the days when you could let your kids run around even if you couldn't see them. Now they know better than to wonder and I trust they would know what to do if they got lost. Brooke did graffiti some of her walls with marker though while she wasn't paying attention to her. I didn't cry about it :rolleyes1

OH, Deborah, I'm so glad to hear that Alison isn't the only one out there! The good/bad news is that Alison is 14 (15 in June) and just now starting to be more willing to wear a dress. But unfortunately she's moved on to more "grown up" styles and I'm afraid I'll never see her in a pretty, girly, frilly one, ever!

So I should treasure the moments ;) I complain about Brooke wanting to wear dresses but I am happy that she doesn't want to dress older.

My brother and Val was staying here last ngiht and they are going back home in North.

Val told me that her three neices will be flowergirls as her mother want it as Val want two but she don't want to upset the family... as Val have three sisters... and Val think Olivia with her daughter same dress like bridesmaid and three younger girls will be flowergirls...

My friend said bridesmaid should be older as she think Olivia is too young for second bridesmaid??

Oh well I am happy with it and don't know what colour yet. Val asked me to go to Glasgow to look for bride dress and two dresses.. They will get marry on 1 May next year...

Scottishwee35

I was a bridesmaid for my sister's wedding when I was 11. I can't remember how old olivia is but I think that is pretty close, right?

I can't see any problem if Val is happy with it. Olivia will make a beautiful bridesmaid, and will be a whole year older too by then!!!

and another year for kids is everything. My kids say they are 8 1/2 and 6 1/2. Ethan will be 9 soon and he has started to say he is 9 1/2 ;)

I love these pictures. I wish I took some of my kids dressed up, but I didn't :sad2: (of course dressed up here means a tshirt and jeans for Molly and a shirt and jeans for Wil, something other than sweats)

Is the other little one a neice? So cute in their matching dresses princess:princess:

Did Mike have a nice birthday? :goodvibes

Well,Holly, it's hard to tell, since he isn't the outgoing type, even with us. But he was happy to see us, I think he misses us. And Patrick bought him flowers....Patrick loves to give (and get) flowers!

Yes she is Jon's niece, Christina. We have her a lot because the parents aren't stable. Jon's parents take her for weeks at a time and we babysit and drag her along with us when the parents have her.
