MORNING MARILYN AND DEBORAH!!!! :flower3::flower3:

Good morning Michelle.

OK, here's the question of the day ... I received an email asking me if I would like to earn $200 a month, by having Mrs. Fezziwig be a billboard for the year.

They would wrap the car (similar to the bad girls at the Smart Car party) and for this I would get paid.

Should I find out more?

Are you allowed in the picture?

Oh, and my bad news.....the scale is still stuck on 204. Oh well, I'll keep on trying. I've eliminated almost all sweets (and am not even craving any) and have been really working at smaller portions. Seems like it's bound to help at least a little.

Keep going Holly. It will happen.

the sad thing is that is exactly the issue with an alcohalic, they don't really make a choice like that. What is really hard is that we never know if she will bail at the last minute or not, so a plan is never set.

It must be so difficult.

I have a similar situation but way different, if that makes sense. I like it when Jon's parents take the kids because they do really fun things with them. This weekend they are going camping in the RV to a place they love. The problem is that she tells them things about them and about us and Jon when he was little that I don't like. I also feel guilty because I can't stand to be with them so why should I expect the kids too. Plus, Jon's dad is a racist and uses the F word about it too much and you all know how I feel about discrimination. They take them once or twice a year and Jon thinks it's OK because he turned out alright but I think if you're use to something it is different and I can't help but wonder what they are saying about us. While we were in Mexico she told Brooke not to hold her hands up at her chest and pant like a dog because she looked ugly. She was pretending to be a dog :confused3 I like that my 6 year old still wants to play.

Now this is a hard situation too. Of course you can prepare your children a bit before they go, but I wouldn't have wanted mine to be exposed to such bigotry, bad language and snideness when I wasn't there. On the other hand if your children are more than happy to go then they see the fun side of the trips much more than the bad side.

It's a tough situation for us all... you want to watch out for the kids the most... :grouphug:

What she said!

GOOD MORNING EVERYONE!!!!

We are back from Durham,NC! Had a nice visit with our son, Mike at Duke Law school. He couldn't spend much time with us, but at least we could take him out to eat dinner and visit him at the new law building on campus. Patrick was happy to see Mike's apartment and especially his cat! :cat:

The day we flew up, we changed planes in Atlanta, and it was SNOWING!!!

Thunderstorms in the weather for us here in Florida today. Great tomorrow! bye for now

SOUTHWEST AIRLINES HAS OPENED BOOKING FOR SEPTEMBER.

Stumbled out of bed at 6AM to check....and there they were! Got a non-stop arriving FRIDAY 9/4 at 5:20PM and fly out Sat 9/19 at 2:10PM (one-stop on the way home) Phoenix-Orlando $305. I'm very happy with that price! :thumbsup2

Even woke up Peg (NOT something you normally want to attempt), and she's booked her's...even got a slightly better price as she's flying mid-week!

Just 2 weeks today and we will be off to the airport hotel ready for our flight 2 weeks tomorrow. 2 weeks on Sunday, we will be having breakfast with Ian and Sukie, V, John, Samantha and Haley, and their friend, and possibly Michelle. I haven't heard about Barb.

:dance3::yay::dance3:

I have a friend that says her babysitter pops the cork right when she gets there. That would still scare me :confused3
Yeah, I'd fire that babysitter. I've never even used a babysitter for Tyler and I don't think I'd trust anybody unless it was somebody who I know doesn't do the things I wouldn't like.

 And I'm very jealous!

I'm hoping Monica comes along on the 7th June so we can all see you.

By the way, is Heather and family going at the same time? I know you were going to be sharing with them at one point.

Yes and yes to both! Not the whole time we're there though, just a few days.

And Monica already said she won't let me get out of Florida without a visit from her! :cool1: ;)

What did we decide, Marilyn? Joining up in one of the parks on the 7th?

Popping on for morning coffee break.

Gaylean - no points from candy for me. The Easter bunny didn't bring the girls anything I like.:goodvibes I think your kids are having a fun time and a few days a year of the crap part of the grandparents won't replace all the good you & Jon teach them all year, and hopefully they end up with some great memories like you have of your grandmother.

Michelle - hopefully Barb's post-op appt goes well today! Did you get rid of your pebble yet?

Deborah - Hopefully something comes up that works for Ian's parents joining you on a trip. It sounds like you want it to happen :goodvibes

Connie - Welcome back! Glad you had a great trip!

Marilyn - you must be getting excited about your trip. I wish we could be getting ready to go to florida, too.

Holly - That's nice that you haven't had to get a babysitter for Tyler yet. We used a babysitter for our kids for the first time last Friday. Luckily I was able to get the 14yo daughter of a co-worker. We felt comfortable because I know and trust her father, and I know that if she had a concern, she'd call us or call her parents.

Here's a bad babysitter story. When I was 7, we were in Edmonton visiting my aunt, and the grown-ups all went out and left me, my sister (6) and my cousin (1) with a sitter. The sitter ran out of cigarettes, so she went to the store to get another pack. She took my cousin, but left me and my sister at the house  I can remember being stunned that the babysitter was leaving  We were fine, and we told our Mom later that night, so that babysitter never got used again.

Hi Shannon

Our in law came with us at Med 07 in last mins as they got a bargain as 6 weeks before our cruise... At first, I thought oh no but it went smoothly and we were doing on our own until meet up meals at night and it was good times.. They came with us to travel in Villefrance as it was great times... That times Ian dad was retired from work and he was low then when he was on the Cruise he look so happy and good...

They are good with our kids... as our kids want them come.. oh well...

I was telling them about 2011 but Ian's dad is not able for long flight to Florida which is a shame... as they want go back on Disney Cruise...

I forgot tell you that your two daughter's dresses are so beautiful and wish my daughter wear it as she hate the dress now but she can wear only if I tell her for special day or something but another times she is wearing trousers all the times and playing football too... I just wish she is more girl than boy!!!

Marilyn

Oh two weeks to go to FLORIDA :cool1: I love it....

Sounds bad too. I would hope that your kids will understand the difference in the way the Gparents and parents talk. You could use this as a teaching moment. We do want to have our kids exposed to the issues to make sure that when they are cast into "real life" arguements that they can stand their ground. Also I don't think a little bit of of anything bad can lead away a lifetime of good. The grass of course is always greener, to me your problem looks solvable or managable and mine just makes me think of what kind of physical harm the kids could be in with their grandmother. We already had a swimming mishap when Wilson was a toddler. I don't think I could ever forgive myself if her bring drunk caused my children harm. BTW, I talk to our kids about her drinking. I've heard the addictive personality skips a generation and I'm very concerned for my children when they test their drinking limits :sad2:

The problem that I have is that my grandma (dad's mom) is "old fashion" and my mom, being the hippie she is, didn't love her. She was racist, from what my mom tells me, I couldn't tell. She took me a lot and I love her. She played games with me and did fun stuff with me. I was heart broken when she left CA when I was 12. I would spend summers with her until my friends became more important. As an adult, I see that she wasn't the best but I couldn't tell then. She taught me how to sew, knit and crochet and my mom didn't have time for that. Plus, in the summers in TX, we would garden and she was there with me and it was really nice to see a different side, even though I may not believe in it. I just worry that my kids will have a different experience and I also fear they won't have the experience at all if I don't let them :confused3

So what you took from your Gmom was the good. As a child I think we all have rose colored glasses on to remember and see the good. Molly still wants to see her Grandma, even though she cancels on her all the time :sad2:

I have a friend that says her babysitter pops the cork right when she gets there. That would still scare me :confused3

YOU'RE FIRED, would be my words, no way no how...

Thanks for the voice mail :flower3: My flight times don't look as good, leaving earlier like 6:30am :scared1: but the price was mid $300s. I'm seeing if Paul's deadbet client can get me the tickets with his FF again. Fingers crossed.

OH, Deborah, I'm so glad to hear that Alison isn't the only one out there! The good/bad news is that Alison is 14 (15 in June) and just now starting to be more willing to wear a dress. But unfortunately she's moved on to more "grown up" styles and I'm afraid I'll never see her in a pretty, girly, frilly one, ever!

My brother and Val was staying here last ngiht and they are going back home in North.

Val told me that her three neices will be flowergirls as her mother want it as Val want two but she don't want to upset the family... as Val have three sisters... and Val think Olivia with her daughter same dress like bridesmaid and three younger girls will be flowergirls...

My friend said bridesmaid should be older as she think Olivia is too young for second bridesmaid??

Oh well I am happy with it and don't know what colour yet. Val asked me to go to Glasgow to look for bride dress and two dresses.. They will get marry on 1 May next year...

You know, I really don't get it when people start telling others what they "should" or "must" do for their own wedding! :confused3If Val wants Olivia as a bridesmaid, it's because she has a special relationship of some kind with her and it's none of anyone else's business! :sad2:

I have heard, though, of younger girls being "Junior" bridesmaids, if that makes anyone happier. Frankly I don't know what the difference is, and I think it's silly to have rules about who you can and can't have as part of your wedding party!

Okay, I'll climb off my soap box! How fun to go wedding dress shopping! :bride: Hope you have lots of fun!:thumbsup2

I can't see any problem if Val is happy with it. Olivia will make a beautiful bridesmaid, and will be a whole year older too by then!!!

I think its so funny how there are so many "rules" for wedding parties. I think it will be so exciting for Olivia to be a part of it. When Ken and I got married, his youngest sister was our flowergirl. She was 9 and tall for her age, so not the usual 2-5yr old flower girl, but she was so excited to be a part of it, that it was perfect.
