So Tyler's been wanting a guinea pig for about a year now, and I think they're pretty cute too. I've been reading up on them and doing some major checking into the idea. Petsmart has a pretty good deal on a starter habitat that comes with food and treats and bedding and a bunch of other stuff needed, so I'm thinking even harder now. I'm just worried about how stinky they are. My best friend when I was a kid always had them and hamsters in her bedroom, and I don't remember them ever stinking, but it was her job to clean the cages at least once a week, so that probably kept them from stinking. Tyler's buddy's sister has had one for almost a year and her bedroom isn't stinky from it. Anybody else here have any experience? Is it hard to keep up with keeping the cage clean?

Ken, I agree with you! :goodvibes I'll keep up over there just to read and see who's there, but won't post a whole heck of a lot over there for the same reasons as you. :thumbsup2

Erm, this is the post count for that thread!!:lmao:

 How in the world did that happen?! :scared1: I was sure I'd only been there a couple times! :scared:

We are back from the Smart Car anniversary party and from our little errands this morning.

I took quite a few photos and they can be found over on my Facebook profile.

We stayed longer than we intended, but sort of had to. Mrs/ Fezziwig was parked all the way at the back of the service area with about 40 Smart Cars in front of her.

I did resist temptation. They were offering 15% off accessories, and I had contemplated a sound system upgrade. It had bluetooth, and could also control my iPhone so I could play music from the iPod through the system. It already has a built in jack for that, but this system allowed you to control the iPod through the main panel. It also had a built in microphone hands-free talking on the phone.

Sukie pointed out that we hardly ever even turn the radio on and all we use the car for are errands. I couldn't argue with that, though didn't like my bubble burst.

Maybe it's a boy thing but the scent of new technology plus a 15% discount was a bit heady.

Not much to do this afternoon. The choice is finally, after a year, upgrading our poor wheezing iBook to Leopard, or ... taking a 3-mile walk. I can't quite decide which.

I was thinking more about all the folk who used to post on the original Tortola thread who don't post any more. However they will probably be around again closer to the sail date.

I think I'm guilty as one of them....I have seven "pages" to check everytime I log on. Tortola is the eighth so I have not made it all the way there in a while. That will change soon. I want to get it going again and meet everyone we're travelling with. It's close to June too and our 90 day window will open up. It gets exciting around that time. I've been waiting for the Tortola cruise since we returned from the PC cruise. I think it's a long way off still so I have not started getting crazy about it yet. All of that is about to change. How cool. Less than six months to go.

Hey Holly! FYI, they do stink. You MUST clean the cage at LEAST once a week. Just remember that all they do is eat , PEE and POOP! Great to have pets but only if you have time to take on an additional chore, because usually the kids only keep up their end of the bargain for a short while. So if you wont like cleaning up sawdust soaked in pee, and wiping the same up on the bottom of the cage, dont do it.

Ken was actually playing board games with the husband, and I was helping the wife put together a cake for her kids birthday party. She decided to make a 3D castle cake using fondant to decorate it. We started at 9 and it still wasn't finished when we left as 12:30. It was the first time either her or I had worked with fondant. Its not something I'd recommend. Very slow going.

Today all 4 of us will go over there for the party, then home to decorate Easter eggs :thumbsup2

At least you can say that you get your cake and eat it too!!!!

hahahaha.....sounds like you had an exhausting evening. I'm glad you'll all get to have fun with it today. Happy Bunny Day tomorrow! Take pics of the girls finding their eggs. Please share with us.

Ian.....go for the walk....and take one for me while you are at it! :lmao:

Still avoiding taxes...been busy doing some Tortola research and getting really POd because I can't book Dolphin Discovery directly any more...new deal they have with DCL....gotta pay DCLs 60% markup! :scared1: I may just have to tell a fib and say I'm on a private yacht instead of a cruise ship...which I may do if Dianne really wants to do the dolphins.

Time to cook lunch, take a nap, then, maybe, start the taxes.......

.

When I was out getting Tyler's Easter basket stuff yesterday after work, I bought 2 treats for myself too. One is a small car magnet from the $1.00 section at Target, it's a cute multi-color smiley face that says around it "Have a groovy day!" It's almost like it was made just for me because I'm always putting smiley faces on things and people at work jokingly tease me because whenever somebody asks how I am, I ALWAYS say groovy! ;) It will go on the back of my car with my Mickey Mom' s Club magnet. :thumbsup2 The other treat I got was a bag of Kraft bunny marshmallows! They're so cute! But if I eat any more of them, I'll puke, so I'm done. A handful will be Tyler's dessert tonight...he'll love them! 10.5 calories for each marshmallow with no fat, it's at least better for us than brownies or cookies or ice cream I suppose. The bag says 15 are a serving. I can only eat half that, so that's not too bad I guess. :thumbsup2

OK, who is Jeff Wessley and why does he want me to keep up with him on Twitter? :rotfl2:

hahahahaha......so funny.....Twitter seems to be a place where everyone follows everyone and you don't even have to know them at all. It's just a tweet, it's not your whole life story. It doesn't get deep like we do. :rotfl:

Thanks Bubba! That's exactly what I needed to know! So it's basically the same idea as a kitty litter box, right?

Do your taxes. Don't make me have to get on the horn with you Missy!

:cool1:5 MONTHS AND ONE DAY!:cool1:

:cool1:22 WEEKS!:cool1:

Oh yeah.....how come?

Kaylee is on Twitter too and so is Gaylean. I have both of them. How come you and Ian don't?:confused3
Because I'm not on there. Not sure if I could handle keeping up with yet another place because after all, I never even go to Facebook anymore, just the DIS. But it seems like Twitter would be quicker to catch up with? Thinking......

Sorry about the bubble... Mrs. F is very happy with the upgraded 8 trak cassette player she got for Xmas last year...

Honest, I'm not, it was an e-mail from Twitter saying "This message was sent by a Twitter user who entered your email address."

Weird!

You should sign up just to follow JeffLeeProbst and see all of his pictures that he posted yesterday. He even has one with him and his mom. So cute.
