SMOKEY BEAR... remember.. they dropped the "the" years ago cause you know it's up there with not having Easter "the" bunny or Santa "the" Clause... I know... I still say Smokey the bear...

We have a winner...

That is a statue at the Winnipeg Zoo of Canadian Lieutenant Harry Colebourn and his bear cub "Winnie" named after his home town of Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada.

The bearcub went overseas with the Lieutenant during WWI and was donated to the London Zoo (after first being the mascot of the The Fort Garry Horse regiment).

It was at the London Zoo where a certain A. A. Milne and his son Christopher encountered "Winnie" and the rest is history...

Wow... Winnie the Pooh looks more Pooh sized in real life...

Just popping in for a minute today, and I am NOT a Techie, by any means, but I did want to say that I purchased a new battery for my Compaq laptop through Amazon. It was one of their "marketplace sellers" and the name of the seller was Smart Parts USA.

It's a generic replacement, not OEM, but I've had the battery since last October and it's working just great! I think I paid about $60 for it which was half of what a new one from HP was going to cost. I know sometimes people have problems when they don't use OEM parts, but I've never had any problems. I also bought a new power cord for it from another marketplace seller and it's going strong also.

Just my experience FWIW!

Hi Tracy....it's great to catch up with you again too. We had such a good time out to dinner on our last night in LA. If we all get on the reunion cruise in 2011....maybe we can do it again. Hi and hugs to the family. Keep popping in here to keep in touch.

Happy Friday everyone....John has the day off because it's Good Friday. A nice long weekend. He just ran up to the bagel shop and we had egg sandwiches for breakfast/lunch. It was soooooo good.

I'm procrastinating. The VA called me back to say that there is a 60 day hold on scheduling the fiduciary meeting. Just in case Ray wants to challenge me being appointed. Have they read the reports from his doctor yet??? Could you imagine giving the money to him and expecting him to pay the bill??? I just bought him 7 pairs of new pants and he thinks they magically appeared from the Easter bunny, even though he was told many times that I bought them for him. Anyway, I have to do another letter waiving that right and Ray has to sign it. Paperwork, paperwork, paperwork. Just send me the money already. Oh well, guess it'll take at least another month. Mrs. Bush gets paid on the 15th. Maybe I'll have it in time for the May payment??? I sure hope so coz I still have $1000 to pay by early June for my Tortola cruise. Gotta be paid in full to book Palo, spa and excursions.....hopefully without fishes.

It's just that everytime I get on the computer now I have to check: myspace, email inbox, DIS multiple threads, Twitter and Facebook. That's a LOT of checking and posting. It's hard to keep up.

I must admit that is my favorite song. It always reminds me so much of my mom, who always "fed the birds" - it almost puts a tear in my eye when I hear it. I really liked it too when we saw MP in NYC.



Oh, how I would like one of the new iMacs . . . we have gotten rid of all our desktops in here though - all of us are on laptops. Sophia has my 12" Powerbook to do Studyisland, Amy is using my Black MacBook, and I have the newest aluminum MacBook. I love the huge screen on the iMacs, but I think I love sitting wherever I want more.

I am also lazier than you Ian. I do the transfer. Yours is the better way, but like you said, a lot of work. I work on incrementally cleaning up crap over time.

Just a drop-in post to tell you, John, that we are on the PA Tollroad having traversed Ohio on Rt. 70 and on our way to see OUR Sophia. However, at 4 months, she does not need her own computer but her Mom says she likes to watch the screen when games are being played.
