After hearing Ian (and Venetia, too) talk about WW, today, I decided to join WW Online. So I'm all registered, got my points allotment, read through the points system explanation, tried the food tracking, figured out that the walk I did with the girls gives me 2 activity points. I've been thinking about it for a month, and today decided I needed a jumpstart plus the help to see if when I think I'm eating decently I really am.

Holly - did you enjoy your first karate lesson? When do you go again?

Way to go Shannon. I think it is the best lifestyle program there is. It really is a healthy, sensible, portion control plan where you get to eat real food.

Thanks, Venetia. So far I like their website, and how you can easily figure out the points for anything. When I feel stressed at work, I chew a piece of gum. Having 4 pieces of gum seems like a waste of a point.

Today the kids and I had frozen pizza. I figured the thin crust one I was having wasn't too bad, but by the time I was done I had eaten 20points:scared1:

Way to go, Shannon! I'm sure you'll do great! :thumbsup2

My first class, well, about 1/2 way through class I thought I was going to throw up, then I got the chills towards the end, and ended up feeling like I was going to die. Like I mentioned, I've never done 300 jumping jacks before, and then it just got worse from there. It's an hour long, and you're not allowed to stop moving. If you're watching the instructor demonstrate something, you have to jog in place. If somebody's caught NOT moving, the whole class has to do 20 pushups. There was one other newbie, a dad, and he looked just as nervous as I was.

I found another mom who's pretty new, this was only her 3rd class, and told her I was pretty nervous. She told me everybody is nervous the first couple times and not to worry. I asked her if I really should be nervous or is it not as bad as I was afraid of, and she sort of chuckled and told me "Well, on my first class we were flipping people". :scared1: None of that went on in my class, fortunately! I used Tyler's weapons and some of his gear because mine won't be in for about 2 weeks. So I had short nunchucks and it looked funny, but it's fine for now. :thumbsup2

When I was signing up and came to the paper where I sign to say I agree not to sue them if I get hurt in class, and the owner reminded me that although the kids' classes are no-touch sparring, adults are full contact. :scared: I laughed and told him that after working at my job for over 4 years, I finally have health insurance and it started a couple weeks ago, so at least I'm covered! ;) What the heck did I get myself into?! :rotfl2: I'll go every Monday and Wednesday at 7:30 and Tyler and I will do the family class on Tuesdays at 6:45. :goodvibes I think there might be a Saturday morning class too.

It great to be able to figure the points by the nutrition label. I take my point caculator when we grocery shop. I also write the points on most packaged food in the pantry. Do you have ww food products in canada?

Yes we've got some WW foods in Canada. I've buying some of the single serving frozen meals for lunch for a couple months (and a couple other brands). A salad or other raw veggies with a small entree, and a piece of fruit works great for me.

Holly, once you have your gear, you'll have to get a picture of you & Tyler together and post it :goodvibes

As an add on, we tend to make moving more very complicated, requiring special equipment, special clothing, special places, etc.

That's all well and good, and gyms are good. But I find so often, people set up a litany of "shoulds" and "musts" and it becomes an all or nothing equation.

I have found that "all or nothing" might tend to set some people up for failure.

I had a member who lost 60 lbs and she did no more exercise than incorporating more walking into her daily routine, plus of course a calorie reduced plan.

So she went from being very sedentary, to walking everywhere. I think that finding ways to incorporate moving more into our normal lifestyles is very important.

Keep in mind, that once upon a time, people didn't think about going and exercising, because they moved more as part of their normal days.

I need a dinosaur chasing me... or Planky... :lmao:

There's no actual proof I was born in Brooklyn, although there was plenty of "documentation" that the people who raised me tried to pass off as a "birth certificate."

I know my real parent have a manor house in England, and left me, with a poor and humble family to help me build character.

My real mummy and daddy are going to drive up in a Silver Cloud Rolls any day now, and restore me to my rightful place.

Your real parents took an airliner over from Merry Olde England to see their long lost cousins who had jouneyed over on a previous trip... ... Unfortunately your cousins fell on hard times and moved from England to Brooklyn permanently to search for their pot of gold (which unfortunately again for them, was on the other side of the Hudson in Jersey...)

They discovered to their delight that you AND your long lost cousin looked EXACTLY alike... right down to those cute little dimples you know where...

When it came time for their journey back to Merry Olde... their Silver Cloud swooped in and picked up your cousins and whisked them off to Idelwilde where they hopped on their conveyance and flew home.

Unbeknownst to them... they picked up the wrong kid.... sorry... :confused3

Your long lost cousin now has a job at in Merry Old is very happy with a wife, 3 kids and a cat and loves to go to to Butlins Minehead where he has a deluxe AP... and timesharing... :woohoo:

for a sweet treat try the Giant Fudge Bars. only 1 point.:thumbsup2

Quoting again to add, I do have a great city to walk in. I work 6 blocks from the beach and we have a beautiful waterfront. Maybe I will take a camera on my next walk to show you what I mean, But like Ian said, it takes no special equipment,or outfit, I just leave my desk and put one foot in front of the other. Oh but I do wear my Ipod and even have a special playlist just for my walks. The right music really helps with my stride and pace. I also get a short extra walk in the morning when I have to go to make the bank deposit.

V... can you share your playlist?

And will this also include a title. Lord, Duke, Earl, Viscount maybe.

Ohhhh don't make him a motown singer... :lmao: He'd kind of like that...

I think you've been drinking some of that pharmicutical laden Chicago tap water that I heard about on the news.:rotfl2: By the way, could you bottle some up and send it to me. I know I could sell it for big bucks!:rolleyes1

So that's what tequila is... :scared1:

I could, but you'll have to meet me in the school yard at midnight.

:rolleyes1Me and Julio down at the School Yard... :rolleyes1

Hey, me too! The first of the year I decided enough was enough, so I went in and joined WW. I always had in the back of my mind that Ian was a WW leader and would periodically share tidbits here.

It's been the best thing ever! I actually go to meetings because I know my self well enough to know that i need the accountability and the camaraderie that going to meetings provides. I just wish Ian was my leader! Susan is awesome, but she's not a DISer!

So....I've lost 20.6 lbs since Jan 6!:banana::banana::banana: I'm so excited!!! I proudly carry my 10% keychain and I'm a bit evangelistic about it. It's just been about the easiest thing I've ever done!

Of course I still have 40+ pounds to lose, but hey, I'm not in a hurry. Once they come off they're staying off, and most of the time it's pretty easy to do. (Today was another story, but tomorrow is a brand new day!)

Gotta get me one of those pedometers, I guess. I never really understood the purpose, but it sounds like just another great accountability tool.

I also LOVE the WW frozen treats. My favorites are the Ice Cream Sandwiches and the Giant Cookies & Cream bars. YUM!!!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY JILL!!!!!!
