So all this talk of weather made me go check out or forecast for the week. Today and tomorrow 83 and the next day 80 and the next day showers and 58.
Only in California :sad2: We have to look everyday to see what we should wear.

You have a problem with Flannel and Fleece??? :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Oh, I already copied it from the website and printed it for Tyler.

I emailed the link to his principal because she's the one who told us about the event. She sent me a flyer in the mail and told me she thought it would be something Tyler would love, so I figured she'd get a kick out of seeing this. She emailed me back and told me she found out already that Tyler went to the event because he wore a shirt today that he was given (part of his bag of door prizes) and walked up to her this morning, proudly smiling and pointing at his shirt. :thumbsup2 So she emailed the link to every teacher in the school who deals with him, and the special ed teacher read Tyler's dad's email to him and showed him his picture online. He was quite excited! ;)

How's he doing in school Holly??? Sounds like he likes it there... does he ever say anything about the other school?

Well, he's definitely making major progress already. I think I mentioned that at his prior school, whenever they tried to get him to do schoolwork, he would rip it up or eat it or flush it down the toilet. But they way they schedule his day here, they're able to get him to do work. They give him a break after every single activity (but told me they think he's ready for them to start reducing the number of breaks), and all kinds of other methods to get him to do the work.

At the old school, he couldn't do more than 1 or 2 math problems a day, now he does a whole page of math every day.

At the old school, he could only write by copying what's already printed on a paper. Tonight at occupational therapy I watched him write the first word I've ever seen him write on his own. Cat. And he didn't have to ask how to spell it. Also the word "to". She always has him practice by writing a sentence that he makes up and she writes on the paper first for him to write below hers. He chose "I wore my cat shirt to school today." He told her he didn't need her to write it first for him to copy. He did have to ask her to spell the words for him as he wrote each letter, but it's still a huge improvement for him. There were quite a few letters he couldn't remember what they looked like, so she had to write one first to show him, but it's still an improvement!

He's now able to eat lunch in the cafeteria with the other kids with no major problems. And he's able to go to the regular classroom many times a day, sometimes about a 1/2 day total. That's major, since he wasn't able to last more than about 10 minutes at his old school. I think the difference is just knowing he has an "out" if needed because he knows if he gets to his frustration limit he can leave and go to the special ed room.

On the ski trip last week, the teachers and aides told me he's doing really well so far! Of course he still has similar behaviors as the old school, but here they know how to handle it, they deal with it, and get him back on track to continue his day. :goodvibes He really seems to like it so far. He doesn't mention his old school much. Although he was sad about having to leave, I think that might just have been fear of the unknown. I used to ask him if he wants to stop and visit the old school, but he quickly says no. His former kindergarten teacher (who we see at church) told me he probably doesn't want to go back because it was a miserable time for him there, or it could be that it's just easier for him to make a clean break.

Lisa, thank heavens it is only strep. I'm relieved and it's good she is bouncing back so well

Deb: GO LAY DOWN that was my mean voice...sorry to scare you

Yeah... she means it Deb... and remember... Monday ends earlier here... :rotfl:

Well, I'm wiped out. Headed to bed. Goodnight all! :cloud9:

Okay, I've read through all 13 pages and I'm all caught up! Now its time to add my 2cents ;)

Loved seeing the old pictures of everybody! I leave it to Ken to post ours.

Nan - Congrats to Wilson! He looks so happy in the pictures from last night! :cool1: :car:

Deb - I hope you were able to stay lying down for the game. Lying down at home has to be better than being in the hospital. :grouphug:

Hi Shannon....well I made it through half the game lying down. I added more time later though so it's ok. You are so right that it's way better than doing it in the hospital. That's incentive for me.

Kelly - that's interesting about not mixing tylenol and ibuprofen. When Shaelyn had extremely bad fifth disease, she was in horrible pain. She wasn't quite 3 and it was so sad. I had her into emergency 3 times over the weekend because she kept getting worse, everything hurt and she couldn't sleep. I had tried Tylenol and advil (separately) and neither was working very well. The doctor said to stagger them so she got tylenol at 6am, advil at 9am, then tylenol again at noon, and advil again at 3pm, etc. He said doing that would keep her constantly at effective levels of pain reduction. He said it was safe to do for a couple days. It did help so she could actually get a bit of sleep. :wave2: we'll see you in March :goodvibes
Just south of DL on Harbor Blvd. Do you have a car?

Gaylean - You do look younger in that picture with the dark hair. I like your colour now better. It fits your sunny, bubbly personality better. :goodvibes

Lisa - I hope Gretchen is getting some sleep tonight. Good luck at the doctor's tomorrow.

Kathe - Did Serenity's mom ever take advantage of you. She knows you love having Serenity so mom can get away with it. :) But its great that you had fun with her.

:wave2:

Sounds good... tell Tyler that we are very proud of him!!! :cool1: :cool1: :cool1: :cool1: :cool1:

Deb: GO LAY DOWN that was my mean voice...sorry to scare you

I'd listen to Nan if I were you Deb, otherwise, I'll have to have Sukie call you and be, very, very, very stern with you and tell you how naughty you've been.

DEALS OFF MICHELLE! The "boys" are in the snow and the "girls" are covered in fur!:sad2: No dice!

Renovation update.

Even with the Superbowl "we" did manage to get some work done in the living room.

After we ripped up the carpet and underlay we discovered that the living room was on a different "level" than the kitchen and the hallway. Because we wanted seamless into the hallway that meant we needed to add another subfloor to the living room in order to "build it up" to the same level as the connecting rooms. So Saturday was spent finishing up the painting and installing a new subfloor. (sorry no pics of that event)

On Sunday "we" finally got down to the business of laying the new laminate floor.

Here is a pic of how Shannon spent much of SuperBowl Sunday...

And here she is all smiles with the living room all complete:

I put the "we" in quotes above because, as much as I would like to take some credit for the floor, I really can't. Shannon did the majority of work laying the flooring. I was called in to help cleanup, do some of the notching with the jigsaw and generally just be standing around and getting in the way. Yes I was a Supervisor!

And here is a pic of the hallway which still needs to be completed (as well as the staircase leading to the front door).

We're getting there!!

I meant to respond to this earlier today ...

Are you Canucks nuts?

(How much did you have to pay Shannon to get her to smile like that?)

Hey Ken... what are all those bumps in your front yard???

Those are the now covered over tracks of where the kids were "running" through the snow in the front yard before. The little sticks sticking up in the front yard there is a Tinkerbelle lilac bush. It is about the same height as Kaleigh is. Gives you an idea of the depth of the snow.

Speaking of which, I will be posting pics of snow from here tonight for all of you to ooh and awww over...

Oh yeah such decisions ....

T-shirt and shorts, and the decision to be with a side of sweater or not. Touch call.

Wear the sweater around your waist and you are covered. Carry an umbrella and you have shade from the heat or protection from the rain.

Tough decisions on what to wear. Where's that pic of Ian all bundled up. That's decisions!!

The dress if lovely Nan. Do you still have it?

Oh, I think the country has closed down!!:confused3 John is supposed to fly to Amsterdam at 6pm, but it is looking doubtful. Trouble is you just don't know what to do. The airport is making an annoncememt shortly. At the moment all flights are grounded.

I do still have the dress, sadly it doesn't fit me now :sad2:

We had it out on display for my parents 50th wedding anniverary party we threw a suprise for them at our house. This year, next month would have been 60 years for them. We always celebrate with mom. This year we are having the combined grandson's bday and anniversary celebration on the same night at Chinese resturant.

I'd love to see it, but Sukie hates Star Trek. I'd have to go on my own. :sad2:

Is Wilson smiling or crying?

Sadly, we can't see it together, because I'd dump Molly with Sukie and we could run out to the show...have fun with Jackie that day, we'll have to chat afterwards to relive the glory of it all.

And when can she do our house???:artist:and floors?

after she stops in San Jose, because I have a bathroom to remodel and need the carpet pulled and hardwood floors redone in the bedrooms. okay Shannon, since I'm your wife I figure I'd get first dibs :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:
