Happy Superbowl Sunday everyone....I finally feel up to being awake.....was sick again. I went to the wound doctor appointment this week....I started with a half of a vicoden before the appointment and was in a LOT of pain from the visit. I kept taking more vicoden. I couldn't stay awake and when I did wake up I felt very sick....nauseous and dizzy....so I went back to sleep. Today I'm starting to feel like a person again and I have not had any vicoden since yesterday afternoon. The legs still hurt but it's bearable pain. Michelle I know you can relate.

The wound doctor didn't put me in the hospital...thank all goodness. They cultured both legs and will phone in an antibiotic when they get the results. I have to lie flat...no more elevating...it's not enough. I have to stay lieing down for as long as possible every day. I have a hard time doing this because of sinus and back problems....but since the legs are worse and need the attention now, I just have to let the sinus and back bother me and just suck it up. So far I have only managed two hours a day at two separate intervals....not good enough.

The doctor insists that I get the edema swelling down so that it will stop leaking so that I don't get infections. That's the key. The only way for me to do it is to lie flat. I'm going to try to lie down for the whole game while watching the superbowl later. Wish me luck.

I also have to wet a wash cloth with epson salt and lie it on my legs on top of the wounds directly and keep the cloth damp to soak out the water in the legs. We haven't started doing that yet because the legs hurt too much so far. We'll start that during the week....maybe in a day or so when they don't hurt as much anymore.

I have to do it and make it work. The alternatives are worse.

Is this the worst your legs have been? Will you start to have home care again? What will take to really get them better?

Such cuties.

okay, last bit about last night. There was an award created last night for a group of 4 boys (just the next level up from Willie) in cadets for driver development. The cadet class of 9-12 year olds was realy exciting to watch this year, lots of good racing. So those boys got there plaques and then there was more raffle prizes and then Wilson's award was presented. Willie thought he was getting an award for just Kid Karts, so he was happy, but not that impressed. He didn't realize until we got the car that he one the award out of all the kids 16 and under at the track. All the older boys that he thinks are so good and cool, he beat. It was very humbling for Paul and I to have him reconized for all his efforts last year. He was the only kid at the track that opted to race in both club and IKF. A few of the other boys did one IKF and then quit. Willie really did a great job last year not only coming in 2nd in his club but also 2nd in Northern CA. The boy that one 1 place in club raced one IKF race and didn't do well, so he just quit. It really shows that Willie could compete will locals at their track all around Northern CA and come in 2nd over all. Okay Big soap box I know. But I'm so proud of him and the hard work from last year. I just hope as he goes forward in his new season (with an extra 25MPH) that all will go well and safe.

Go Speed :car:

We're so proud of "our" Wilson!:cheer2:

There should be a Profile Picture with the request on the HOME page link. How does he look? Or does he just have a shadow shape or OLD picture? One of my friends put a photo from high school up as his profile photo for a while--pretty funny!

Thanks for letting me know that. I just checked. No photo, just a silhouette. I like your idea to just ignore such requests.

I suppose I might feel differently had I not been dumped as friend.

It is a whole new world of information, isn't it? I still struggle with the whole notion, and that really bothers me, because I feel like I'm getting too old to grasp a new concept.

I need help and advise.

Gretchen danced Friday night till 11pm and yesterday it was all day till 5pm. See a few pics below!! We had fun!!

She was fine. During the night she started crying...sore throat ... fever...I started Tylenol and have been doing Advil.....tylenol.....every 2 .5 hours alternating them....It is now 3:19 Eastern and she is 104.5 degree fever. This kid NEVER gets sick.....She has never ever been to the doctor for a sick call....broken bones yes.....well checks yes.......scatched eyeballs yes.....but never sick......

She has a tepid cloth on her and she is drinking a lot of grapefruit juice for me.

She is not throwing up or anything....no runny nose....no cough.....just this big fever that I seem not to be able to control.......

Lisa, I don't know much about kids, but that is a very high fever, for either a child or an adult. I'm sure people have said this, but I would get her to a doctor, just to be on the safe side.

Oh, DEB! I am so sorry you are in so much pain! I wish I had some suggestions for you, but your doctor seems to have a handle on it. Have they ever really figured out how to completely repair your edema and heal all the sores so that you can carry on from there? Is it poor circulation? I have such terrible varicose veins that I often worry if they become open.

Keep up the good work, and do what the doctor says.....I hope you feel better soon!
Here's a cheer! :cheer2::cheer2::cheer2::cheer2: Go Deb,Go!!!

I LOVE MY NEW PINK VACUUM!!!! I had a real eye opener about how crappy my old vacuum is. Tyler vacuumed one of our smaller rugs in the hallway today and I was shocked at how much dirt and fuzzy stuff was in the dirt cup from just a small rug! That shows how little the other vac was picking up. Wow! It honestly looks like a new rug! Since we were both so amazed at how well the new vac works, Tyler asked me if that can be his new chore. Um.....YEAH! :thumbsup2

It's important to bond with our appliances.

OK, I'm too lazy to get my yearbook and scan a photo. As a bigger shock, I suppose I could have scanned a photo with my last girlfriend in 1972.

But, here is a picture of me in June 1974, a year after I graduated high school:

And here's one you've seen before from about 1975-ish:

And finally, Sukie, 21 years ago!

Hi Kelly :wave2: The most important thing that happened is that Marilyn hit 10,000 posts and then I did too about a month after her and now I'm ahead of her :hyper: No really I PMed you the important thing.

REUNION MARCH 21

Thanks, will check out locations.

Hi Kelly, we've missed you!

Hi Mr. Ian, after hours of catching up I never considered you to be an attack driver... especially to someone with a cane! Blame the car and reference "My mother the car" So, evil.... and on another note i think I mentioned that I had a Tammy doll!!!

Hi Kelly. Great to see you. I have been wondering how you all were so glad to know all is well and you are busy. That is good!!!

HI Miss Marilyn!

My kids aren't really into clothes brand names yet. They do have some if I can find them cheap. My friend goes to a shopping day at one of the name brand stores. It won't let me write it here. Anyway, she gets shirts for the kids and it is $5.00 a pound. So they have some. My concern is that when I tell them they need to save their allowance for things they start talking about how poor we are. I don't want to put that burden on them but I think if they want something and it isn't for their birthday or Christmas they should earn it. Brooke wonders why our house doesn't have stairs. Ethan isn't as bad as her but I'm sure it won't be long. I just don't know how to teach them that money doesn't grow on trees without them worrying about money. I think I'm a stronger person and can give up a lot more than some because of how I was raised and I want that for them too. Plus, because my family never traveled or really did a lot of extra things it is a blessing for me and I think my kids take it for granted. When they ask me why their friends have more I just tell them that their friends didn't go on a Disney Cruise.

Everytime we talk about Zoe wanting something we say it is the cost of xxx American Girl Dolls. How much do you need it or want it? Fortunately, she is learning money in school, so it's sinking in.

Hi Kelly!!! We Miss you!!! Come back and visit anytime:goodvibes :goodvibes

KELLY... REUNION MARCH 21ST... :thumbsup2

Are you coming out?

I'm that bad. And BTW you're old. I had to look up the term.

Now, that made me laugh.

I just remembered I'll have to buy the bacon in Anaheim. Not allowed to bring meat products across the border! Where's a grocery store near DL?

Just south of DL on Harbor Blvd. Do you have a car?

The National health care in Canada is good for the reasons you state. It is there for the poor and the rich alike. Unfortunately it isn't all it is cracked up to be. One example is that many of the prescriptions aren't covered by the health plan, so while a person can go and see a doctor and get diagnosed, they still might not be able to afford the prescription.

The other major downside to the national health system is the problem we are facing here in Canada, where you cannot get in to see a doctor. Doctors are seeing so many people that there can be really long delays in getting into see a doctor or getting the necessary operations you may need. We have huge wait times that is the focus of many a political discussion. It is a large debate if we should start to adopt a two-tiered healthcare system. Many people that can afford it or are desperate enough are going to the US or to Europe to get the treatment they require because the wait list here is far too long.

You will hear many stories on the "free" medical system of people using up appointment times because of a "hang nail". For some individuals, they go and see the doctor just as part of the regular routine to get out of the house and talk to someone.

And of course one of the issues with a national system is that the prices the doctors can charge is set by the government, thus we lose some of our doctors to the US and other nations where they can set their own fees and feel they can make more money.

Very interesting, I've been very curious about this system. Thanks.

disappointment morning here....Paul's mom called yesterday and made a date with Molly for a beading class for this morning. Well she called about an hour ago and told me that she didn't know where Dick (FIL) went and we'd have to do it again another day. I suspect she had been drinking, as it sounded so in her voice. Molly of course was let down again. I had to call Paul to tell him (he is working at a coffee shop) and he is mad and wants to confront her, but it's a lost cause. I'm thinking that I might start keeping a log, so that everyone (well us at least) can see how often she agrees to stuff, even creates events and then fails to come for them...so sad and hard to explain to a child :sad2:

UGH! A log is a great idea for the next intervention.

This is strange and amazing. Venetia you look different. Bubba you have the same facial expression :rotfl2:

I was going to ask about Bubba's new avatar and now i see it is him. Very Tom Selleck looking! And you too were adorable.

NEVER MIX TYLENOL AND IBUPROPHEN TOGETHER. VERY BAD FOR THE LIVER.

USE A COOL CLOTH AND PRESS IT AGAINST HER BODY OVER AND OVER TO BRING THE TEMP DOWN. YOU CAN USE VINEGAR TOO. IT'S AN OLD FASHION METHOD THAT GRANDMA'S WILL USE. ESPECIALLY DO THE BACK OF HER NECK, FOREHEAD, BACK AND CHEST. CHECK HER FEVER EVERY HOUR THROUGHOUT THE NIGHT - WHILE SLEEPING YOU CANNOT TELL IF A CHILD HAS LAPSED INTO A COMA WITH A HIGH FEVER. ALSO, YOU MAY SEE THROWING UP WITH THE FEVER. THAT IS MOST LIKELY STREP THROAT -VERY DANGEROUS. DON'T OVERDOSE HER ON THE OTC MEDS. 200MG EVERY 4-6 HOURS. VERY, VERY RISKY TO DO MORE THAN THAT. KEEP HER HYDRATING CONSTANTLY AS SHE IS PROBABLY DEHYDRATED FROM THE FEVER MAKING THE PAIN FEEL WORSE THAN IT IS. I'LL PM THIS TOO. IF ANYONE HAS HER EMAIL, PLEASE SEND THIS INFO. I DON'T HAVE EVERYONE'S EMAIL ANYMORE SINCE MY COMPUTER CRASHED.

Jackie, beautiful picture!

Deb and John - you too haven't changed a bit

Gaylean and John - you look like those pics were taken just the other day... oh yea, they were! Adorable pics.

I'm loving all the pictures!

Peg just called to announce that she and Jose are sitting on the couch, drinking beer and watching the game! :scared1: :scared1: :scared1: This is unprecidented behaviour for their household. I may have to grab some chicken wings and root beer and go over and witness this!

Who is winning? The robots or the song birds?

We opted to head to an outdoor mall this afternoon after I got back from WW, because it is so warm (37F). It was empty, which was great.

We haven't had a decent Sunday afternoon out for a quite a while.

If you head over to Peg and Jose, say, "hi" for me.

Well, the score was 3 - 0 when she hung up.....but didn't say who had the points. :lmao:

Will pass on your greeting.

Hey guys - DIS'ing and watching the game from the pc. and having a chardonnay.

everyone that has girls - are they always going to be so CHATTY??? And really Samantha asks some pretty intelligent things and I am thinking oh gosh I better google that before answering.

She is silly too, there is a rapid tax refund place on the way home from her school and there is a guy dressed as the statue of liberty out by the road promoting it, she asks, who it that supposed to be? I said - the statue of liberty - she says come on mom, he doesn't even have the book or the flame - ugh ok! She was right though!

tonight I felt like cooking so I did a appetizer type feast = spinach dip with marble rye cut bread, assorted cheese and crackers, I then made a sauce of spicey mustard, mayo, wing sauce and cut up boneless skinless into bite size pieces, rolled it in bread crumbs and fried it up and served with bleu cheese dressing, pretty darn good, then I made a buffalo wing sauce - all are not WW friendly but John and Samantha wolfed them down and I got my kitchen time in.

Publix has an "Aprons" cooking school here, where select chefs come in and teach certain classes and then they also have some basic cutting/presentation/etc classes, I am looking for someone to do it with me, I will go alone but it is way on the other side of town - and I so hate to drive - so hopefully I can find someone to carpool with.
ok enough chatter about me.

how is everyone?

Ian - you and Sukie warm? I missed it - did you rev the engine as you hit the gas?

Marilyn - when are you guys coming in May ---- we can meet up, it would have to be in a resort restaurant though, our passes expire after ESPN the weekend and I don't think we are going to renew any time soon.

Next year is 10 "married" years and we are really thinking of doing the April repo, I am kind of worried about the weather, I don't mind the boat rocking or anything, and none of us experience sea sickness - but I was reading reports and the pools were closed due to waves splashing over...which again, hey - Diversions here I come, but will there be other things to do to fill up all those sea days?

And here's one you've seen before from about 1975-ish:

this so looks like a scene from Fame!

Steelers so far, not good for John's toilet bowl money!!
Did anyone watch all the pregame - I love when they portray the stories about the players and learning more about them. For example, why Larry Fitzgerald hasn't cut his hair.
