You're not going to tell me that they originate from the US are you?? I never had, nor knew about, English muffins till I met Johns sister from the south so I presume they were a southern favourite!

They originated in England, though I think it may be one of those things that originated over there, made it's way to North America where it grew in popularity, while diminishing in the UK, and then, with accessible travel, made it's way back to the UK.

Here is a link on the history of English Muffins:

Well, when do you want to meet up? We are there for over 5 weeks, so park rime isn't as important to us obviously so we can pretty much fit in with you. Do you want to meet for a meal? In a park? Is the Sunday your first full day because Lisa and Darryll probably can only make that day. We need to contact Lisa as she isn't here too much. Not sure of Michelle's dates, but we must meet up once or twice. Of course there could be 2 meets! We are there all week, and have a couple of other meets to finalise too!!!

Going to be a good week.

Our first full day is Saturday.

Maybe we should think about Sunday lunch (or "dinner" as you northern heathen would say). It could be in a park, a resort or DTD. I rather like Artist's Palatte at DTD if the truth be known.

Or, perhaps brunch at Olivia's.

:wave2: Hi Monica

We are going to the movies this afternoon, so it seems...

The kids are seeing Hotel for Dogs. Paul and I are going to see Gran(d)? Torino (Clint Eastwood) I wish Doubt was playing at the theater we are going to I'd much rather see that. I might try to change our location...brb checking the web now.

I would just warn you that "Doubt" is not what I would call a jolly film.

You know I'm not a jolly person, right :p

Yes I can tell it's very dark. I do like films like that.

Thanks that is very interesting. I now feel like a toasted English muffin for supper!

Funny, there is a longish thread on a UK board I frequent about the different mealtime terms we use accross the country. It is quite funny, and yes you are correct about us Northerners!!!!!:lmao:

Sunday lunch or brunch would be great and a lovely way to start the vacation(though we arrive on the Wednesday before, the vacation proper doesn't begin till we have met a friend or two!!).

That is a good start. Artist's Palette is actually at SSR so do you mean that or somewhere at DTD. We did enjoy the breakfast at Olivias in December and that would be home to you and just up the river for us. We just moved outside when Olivias closed to continue our chatting!!!

Will this all interfere with getting the best use from your DP credits?

OK, I didn't want you to go see the film and expect Mary Poppins.

Well not unless it was this version:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2T5_0AGdFic

that was funny :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

When Molly and Willie had a nanny he parents used to refer to them as Jane and Michael, so we have a soft spot for that movie. I must say I love the recut. Being the mean mom I am I "should" show Molly, but then she would have bad dreams and I'd get called to bring her home from camp next week, so alas, I'll wait until she comes home to scare the crap outta her....

Okay I have to go upload a couple of pics to show you how mean I really am....brb

I meant either literally Artist's Palette at SSR or Oliva's.

We would pay cash for breakfast at Olivia's because that's just not a good use of dining credits.

:confused3 It must be something 20 somethings use :rotfl2:

I'm taking a risk divulging the existence of this application, and if the thread suddenly stops being so chatty I'll know that you all started using it instead...

Google Talk

It's a chat application. Most of us wear earphones while working and since we don't want to talk 10 feet down to the next office or pick up the phone, we'll chat with Google Talk. I've also got it on my Blackberry so they can get in touch with me whenever they need too. :crazy2:

One good thing about it is it saves your conversations, so I can always go back and see what was said when there is a question.

Okay ya know the Dino ride in AK? Well being the mean mom that I am I was able to ride it first and then plant Molly on the side where she would be totally freaked out from the Dino that tried to eat her for lunch.

Look closely she is the one in the 2nd row on the end...the rest of the front 2 rows are all family it was hirlarous

IMG_3751.jpg

Then since I can't stand not telling her that I created the scare she got mad and pouted in the store just outside the ride

IMG_3752.jpg

I can only hope that I'm still young enough to play these kind of gags on her kids with her when she is a mom.

I tell ya, I was the BIGGEST fraidycat as a child and my sisters and brother-in-laws ALWAYS made fun of me and tried to scare me. Those are some of the best childhood memories I have...so I really don't scare her out of meanness, just out of a misplaced sense of my own fun as a child. Of course, she will not appreicate any of this for many years to come and even then I just its a crap shoot on if she will grown into the trickster like her mama :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Ok, we'll book the time and then when more people come along they can say which they fancy most too.

Deb and John might still be there. I can't remember their dates.

I can't remember their dates either. But then again, I find myself remembering very little these days.

.....back......Deb and John are not sure of their dates either. At this point, we'll see if we're even going to be able to make the trip. We took a big hit last month in expenses.....the SC trip, the truck, Christmas, Tom.....we're still digging out. Then I have a b2b cruise to pay for in June. With our Ray expenses each month....our budget is tighter. We applied for a veterans pension for Ray. We qualify, but they said it will take 4-8 months before we start seeing results. We were told that Ray is due to receive from $1,000-1,500 a month. That's what we're paying out for him. It will be very nice to be able to keep our money, but it will take some more time.

Essentially, we may have to cancel our Apr/May WDW trip. It's a real shame too because all of you seem to be making plans for minimeets that I would love to attend. We'll give it until March before we make our decision as to whether or not we'll be able to do it. We are getting some tax money back, so we'll see what happens.

well never found Doubt and Hotel for Dogs together, but I did find SlumDog Millionare with it, so that is our movie of choice.

Playing a quick round of Indy then headed to the show. Maybe I can see Doubt tomorrow on my own and brood about it :rolleyes2

Oh I almost went to see SlumDog yesterday, then didn't. I should check times and see if I've waited to long to hit a twilight.

later kids!

I got out & headed to the library, only to find out that they closed at 4pm (I left the house at 515pm). What odd hours!

Stopped then at Publix for some clementines...yummy :)

Are you smarter than a 5th grader...

The question:

What US state is home to Niagara Falls?

Shannon: Ohio. Well Chicago is near the Great Lakes and Chicago is in Ohio.

roflmbo.gif

And to think she has even been in the right state ...

If Chicago is in Ohio, I must have been missing something all these years.

A friend of mine used to teach a travel course, and he would start the course every year with a blank map of the US and the students would have to fill in the names o the states.

It was always pretty much a disaster, but one year, a student wrote, "Illinois" in the place, but then wrote "Italy" where Lake Michigan is. A pretty astounding feat in an of itself.

What really surprised me was, didn't she wonder why she had never visited Italy? I mean, it's just next door to Chicago.

:lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Of course, the entire question is wrong! The question should read:
What Canadian province is home to Niagara Falls ;)

We have already been out and completed our grocery shopping.

It is an extremely warm 15F.

Unfortunately, it has started snowing again.

It's warming up here too, in temp, but windchill is still making it just as cold as it's been the last couple of days...and it's snowing here again too!

I'm watching Mamma Mia!

I'm watching Beverly Hills 90210 (the original on Soap Network).

I have free HBO & Cinemax this weekend so will be watching some movies this weekend.

I don't have time for TV, I'm trying to get caught up here. My goodness you've all been busy chatting! Oh, and by the way....hi everyone :wave2:

I want to see Slumdog too! Would love to hear a review from you both! It's not even playing here yet
