WAYYYY OT: Pinworms?

Maybe we should forward this thread to the 17 girls in Glouchester would took the pact and all got pregnant at the same time. Let them know what a great time they're in for! :rotfl2:

ITA re: being the tape-r than the tape-e! ::yes::

I just read that! That is so sad. Bet none of them thought about having a colicky baby or a 5 year old with ADD/ADHD.

And I really don't want to be the tape-r or the tape-e. I'd rather be the tape-seller. I still can't get the picture of some horrified kid waking up in the middle of the night, Mom and Dad with the flashlight and tape at the ready.....

Somehow I always manage to leave a plethora of juicy tidbits for the TF! :rotfl2:

ok my family has experienced this situation. If I were you (and we did) I would treat everyone in the family just as a precaution. Pinworm is very very contagious. it has already been said that everything will need to be washed.
good luck

is there any way we can wash this thread????

:faint: Wow...I read all of the parenting books I could find, and everyday I am reminded that being a mom is soooo much different than I could have imagined. I do think, however, that I would rather be the one going in with the tape and the flashlight, than being awoken by someone else with the tape and the flashlight.

How are they nocturnal...they live where the sun doesn't shine....literally how do they know it's night?. Maybe it's just because that's when it's quiet or still......I'd ask your doctor.

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Okay so I NEVER go on this board but as I was scrolling down I saw this topic on the boards list. I am always interested in how people get things like this or any of the other types of diseases like scabies, ringworm, head lice. You may ask why would a sane adult even think of this stuff...well I am a teacher and the kids with whom I work are NONE too clean. I am always afraid of getting somthing like this.

I second the motion. We have dealt with them several times. I have a compulsive finger chewer and again NOT GREAT handwasher. When you look at the stats of how many kids have this at any given time is when it gets really creepy. Especially since it mostly goes undetected. How can we know who has it when the parents don't even know who has it.

DS was forced to keep purell attached to him at all times through 2nd grade. :rotfl: And I am anti hand sanitizers, so what's that tell ya?

In nursing school I was taught the flashlight method. When I was a little girl all four of us kids were routinely given doses of worm medicine, especially in the summer, when we were outside 12-15 hours per day (barefooted, drinking out of the waterhose, playing in the mud, and all the other fun stuff we wouldn't dare let our kids do today). Yes, I know this is dating me (I was born in 1955 - there I said it, and am proud of it - I am an official older person :goodvibes ). The worm medicine was given and there was the assumption that it was taken care of. Not even a need to go to the doctor - just a call to the pharmacist and our grandmother brought it to us and we took it. No more itching, and we just took it for granted that the worms we assumed we had were gone. I am still here, and so are my siblings, so it must have worked!!

Ooh, I don't go anywhere without my personal size purell. They even have bottles all over the hospitals. I do the kids hands when we go out to eat, and I even keep a bottle on the kitchen table at home. When we are at Church, we always shake hands, so I discreetly purell my hands afterward. We have fewer upper respiratory infections than we used to. The teachers at school also have the kids use it before going to lunch. I love it, glad I have it, and it makes my family feel safer.

How long, uh, after you take the medicine does it take for them to go away?..Just uh..curious..( )
