We are going at the end of May, in celebration of my son's 4th birthday. When my daughter turned 4, we did the same thing. Her special celebration activity was easy....Bibbidi Boppidi Boutique.

I'm trying to think of some way while we're down there (besides the obvious Disney trip...lol) to "celebrate" with him. I'm going to sound like one of those people that asks for advice with a ton of qualifiers...but... we had once considere the Pirates N Pal Cruise, but my son is very afraid of Captain Hook ( ?? i know, weird little dude). I'm kicking around the idea of the Pirate League, but he does have sensitive skin and I'm not sure he'd be all the keen to have his face painted?

Any ideas? I would be very appreciative of any advice!

If you don't want to do Pirates League or Pirates and Pals, maybe something like:

  • Harmony Barbershop or get the prince package from BBB
  • Characters in Flight (tethered helium balloon over Downtown Disney)
  • A Night or Sunrise Safari at Animal Kingdom

Or maybe make one afternoon or something where you just do what he wants, like have a character meal with the characters he wants to see, stand in line for the meet and greets on his favorites. The only thing that would worry me about that would be the unpredictable-ness of possibly missing a character and him being disappointed.

/rant start. You've hit on something here that now I have a son I'm jealous of, it seems Disney has a TON for girls to do/dress up as, but not as much for boys. Why are all the special things for boys HAVE to be pirate related? Girls apparently can be either princess or pirate but they don't have a lot of prince stuff for boys. As for Marvel dress up, I don't want my son to be stuck in a hot padded Iron Man costume that requires a face mask and gloves to even show what you're dressed as. I'd love a Flynn Rider or prince costume make over or something but they really don't have those. /rant over.

And yes, I know I complained about not having a prince dress-up thing and I mentioned the prince package at BBB in the same post. I'm talking more about full costumes in the rant than the package. The BBB package I thin includes a sword, but they don't have a full-on prince outfit you could get for the boys as far as I know.

:p

Being in Walt Disney World by itself is pretty dang awesome when you are four. If anything, maybe go to a character meal and get a birthday cake.

Our DS is turing 4 on our trip in September.

Our bday plans are Chef Mickey's breakfast and MNSSHP that evening.

We I do have Pirate's League reserved for that day as well, but I'm 99% sure we'll cancel it. He's not really that into pirates, plus we have an early morning and a late night that day, so we'll be better off taking a rest in the middle of the day instead of PL.

We also celebrated his first bday at WDW. We did Hollywood and Vine character meal and had a special cake made. Special cakes are always fun!

I am also thinking I may figure out how to get a bunch of Mickey balloons after he goes to sleep the night before his bday, so they're in the room when we wake up. Hoping I can find a CM willing to help with this! Another thought is something from Disney Floral & Gifts

Another thought is the Wishes dessert party or the new Illuminations dessert party.

My son is pretty low key so for his 4th birthday last year he didn't really want to do anything. He picked the park we went to (HS) and he got some extra souvenirs that day (nothing huge, a make your own droid). He also chose earl of sandwich for birthday dinner and build his own light saber at DTD. I offered the pirate makeover or the pirate cruise but he was happy being low key.

We did get a cake from the Pop food court (we ordered it the day before) and some ice cream to eat in our room.
