I just received the strangest call. A man called me back to see if I had made up my mind about a vacation offer. Well, the funniest thing is, I'm sure I have never talked to this person before. First of all, he wanted to know my travel dates and was going to book me into Orlando and then Ft. Lauderdale.
Its funny the way he was talking, its like I had already ok'ed this with him recently or something. I do occasionally get calls like this, but haven't in a long time.
I told him that this year I have already booked a 2 bedroom at Orange lake followed by two weeks in Siesta Key, so this year was no good. I then mentioned I want to go to Mexico next year but would need a unit with a kitchen.

When I mentioned Orange Lake and siesta Key he started oohing and ahhing as if this was very impressive or something. The fellow was totally unprofessional. He kind of freaked me out actually.
He put me on hold and told me that he couldn't get me a unit with a full kichen in Mexico and basically hung up on me.

It was by far, one of the strangest calls in my life.
He told me he was with Ramada in F. Lauderdale.

A relative had a similar call a few years ago and ended up paying $800 for a vacation she never used.
Anybody else ever had a call like this????

No. And I'd run away if I were you!! I get calls all the time from some place in Collingwood. I've told them repeatedly that I already have a timeshare snd don't want another one and yet they keep calling.

I've been getting alot of calls from the places in Collingwood also. It's funny but as soon as I say I own DVC and can they do any better they hang up on me :rotfl: :rotfl2: :lmao: works for me!!

I get the Collingwood calls too. Very annoying. And then they suggest I hang on while they get someone to sell me the vacation, I'm like, no... I don't want to talk to anyone, and don't ever call me back again! And then hang up. :teeth: I can say tho, it helps me get my frustration out!

I have call display and get voice mail messages from them.. lol.. but I would ask that they remove you from their list, by law once you ask they have to take you off or they can get charged.
I know I did that with sears and their "we will be in your area today can we come and clean your air ducts" phone call and they have not called back since.

Good luck!

too funny... after posting this I took the kids out for a walk.... got in and there was a message from one of 'them'!! :lmao: too bad I missed it!

As the most paranoid person on these here boards I would also suggest that you never give out information about your vacation to anybody. I'm sure you didn't give him dates or anything but I would still be cautious.

I was watching a tv show about travel scams and as a demonstration, they had people sitting on the airport shuttle bus asking innocent questions...like, "So how long are you staying in .....?" and as soon as the hapless traveller answered, the crook just needs to look at the luggage tag and he/she knows what house to rob and when to do it.

Yes, it was a weird call indeed.
The fellow did ask about my dates (he wanted to look up the availability on line) and I just told him I needed more info. before I could give him the dates
.
I found it wierd he knew my name and phone # and was trying to get me to tell him when exactly I would be interested in coming to Florida.
But once I told him I wouldn't consider a unit unless it had a full kitchen , he quickly got off the phone.

I own a DVC and live in the Collingwood/Horseshoe valley area, Wasaga Beach. Now I am fortunate because they never call to ask us to buy one of their time share products. So in that regard I'm fortunate. But keep this in mind if you are considering buying one. Is Collingwood realy where you would like to spend your down time for a week or two or would you rather go to Orlando Fl. WDW. They will try to convince you that you can trade with others and go where ever you like. but I am a believer of buy where you want to stay (most of the time). This is also the case with Intra West and DVC but to tell you the truth the quality of DVC is superior to Intra West by about 5 to 1. Intra west is nice but I just can't get over the Hot tub thing in - 20 degrees. Typhoon lagoon though I can handle. Don't get me wrong though Intra West is still the best in the Way of a ski vacation but its not for me and I go there 3 times a week to ski since we are 20 minutes away. :goodvibes
