Way Early I know but anyone going on Eastern May 1-8 2004?

Hi all, thought I would check in quickly, just to let you know I was still here! Been keeping up with reading, just no time to type.

We thought we had made up our mind regarding excursions, but now we are thinking we may just not do any excursions. I will be traveling with a dh who prefers not to be on a schedule, a 6 y/o ds who gets tired quickly, a 3 y/o dd who has an occasional and inexplicable tendancy to become Mr. Hyde, and my mom who can have some heat tolerance problems, so we are thinking it might be best to stay on our own, figuring if everyone is doing great we can grab a cab and go, but if not, we can always just stay near the ship, enjoy the local shopping and sights, then spend some relaxing time on the less crowded ship. the kids are really looking forward to the Mickey pool, so I think it would be good for them to get some time in it where it isn't so crowded.

We got the new DVD the other day, and the kids (okay, parents too) have been having a blast checking everything out. There are some great pictures on there.

Can you believe it is less than 60 days now??????

Have a great day,
Linda

Welcome back ScrapHappyMama!

I think you are very wise to not book an excursion based on what you wrote in your post! We only booked 1 for that reason. Our kids are a little older than yours so we went for it but have decided to do only that one thing..the rest of the time is ours to do whatever we want. I hate being on a schedule on vacation as well which is why I FINALLY convinced Ryan to just do 1 this time. Our last cruise with DCL we did a scuba dive in Nassau (just he and I) then came back and went with the inlaws and kids to the glass bottom boat tour. Freeport we did the Dolphin Encounter and CC we did biking and floats in the rain! We dont want to be tied down very much as well and figure at least if we decide to not go we are technically only out $6.00 because of the stateroom credit although I'd rather drink froo froo drinks instead of losing it. I guess we'll see how they do on a 7 day with only 1 excursion. In the past we havent done one at all with them just kind of known the places we could go if we wanted to...the last DCL was hard on all of us but then it was a 4 day cruise as well which didnt help having a stop and excursion every single day!

I should have sent for the new dvd but I didnt!

Sounds neat to watch though!! I cant believe we are almost out of the 50 day mark...and I cant believe my trip is paid in full! I was looking at our cruise on DCL website and it still has cabins available which is a good sign I guess although the rate went up 2200.00 from when we booked til now! YIKES!

Well off to preschool and the doctor with my 10 year old..she's had strep throat all week and she isnt getting any better with this round of antibiotics so we're off to get more!!

Heidi

Heidi,
It only took two weeks for the DVD to come, so I would say go ahead and order it! You should get it in plenty of time to enjoy it. there is a lot more stuff on it that the video, so I think it is worth it.
Oh, and please please please, KEEP THE SNOW!!! We have finally gotten rid of most of the two feet of snow that we had on the ground, and it is so nice to be able to see the grass, even if it is brown, lol
Linda

Linda...

I just ordered it so hopefully it will come soon!!!!

As for the snow...I'm heading it East out of here! Since December 26th we've had on our front lawn about 46 inches of snow...that's 2 inches short of 4 feet! Havent seen the grass since 3 days before Christmas when it skiffed some snow on the grass! I am SO sick of salt and snow and cold and coats and everything associated with winter!! How about if I dont send you the snow BUT you send me some of your nice weather???:sunny: :sunny:

Heidi

Off to salt the icy driveway yet again and bracing for yet more snow this afternoon! Thank GOD for SUV's!

Well, I didn't mean to give you the impression we were having NICE weather.... it is 40's and rainy, which has caused the snow to melt, but still not what I would call nice. The bad thing is that historically in Iowa, we almost always have a big snow in March, or sometimes even in early April, so we may not be done with it yet.

Linda

It's a beautiful 80 degrees right now.... I love it, it's really starting to feel like cruising weather!!!

All right now Travis keep that up and we are going to have to send you back to Lurkerville;)

OK...

Here's the daily riddle!

Ollies_57pics01_sm.jpg

Well, I hope it's a 57 Chevy as that was my intent! :)

Looks like you're two for two Heidi!

Hi all! Just thought I would add to Jason's timekeeping.... for those of us heading to Orlando the day before we cruise..... that is only EIGHT short weeks from today!!!!! (or eight short weeks from tomorrow if you are coming in the day we sail!!!!)

Whhooooo hoooooo!!!!!!!!!!

(and Travis, please can we trade?? I'll give my 40's and cloudy/rainy/dreary for your 80's and sunny, whaddaya think?????)

Linda

I have to say that the 56 belair was from RYAN and the 57 Chevy was from ME! We actually got into a small little "arguement" over who was right and of course (you'd think after 14 years of marriage) I WAS RIGHT! YEEHAW! More bragging rights coming my way!!!

As for the rude post ;) about the weather...I'll have you know we got yet another 4 inches of snow overnight with temperatures at 11:30 am here at a steady 37 degrees! HOWEVER by the middle of the week next week it is supposed to be dry, sunny and in the middle to high 50's *Possibly pushing 60 by Wed* so I do have some hope!!!

7 Weeks and 5 days and we leave..WOOOHOOO!!!!

Hope everyone is enjoying their weekend! Travis and I are off to Disney for the afternoon with his mom. Talk to you all soon!

Nice weather here in MD today - high 60's!!!

Did some cruise shopping - got the dreaded BATHING SUIT... definetly motivation for me for the next 7+ weeks! Also, got DS some shorts outfits, formal outfit and a tropical outfit. I think, other than a few odds and ends - I'm set!!

Hope everyone is enjoying their weekend and doing well...

C ya'll not soon enough!!!

:wave2:

Hello, hello, hello everyone!

The visit to Disney yesterday proved productive for my cruise shopping. I was able to find a new watch (not really needed but it was too nice to pass up), new flip-flops, and a couple of new t-shirts for the cruise. Oh, and I also found a cool patch for a pair of jeans badly in need of repair! So, some of the visit was work and it wasn't all play. :)

We ended up going to Epcot for the first half of the day and then stopped by Downtown Disney later that evening.

Conny--

I think the idea of meeting for drinks at Paradise Point later on in the afternoon is a great one! That way, everyone can kind of do their own thing and stop by the tramway before returning to the ship. Just let us know what sort of time-frame you were thinking of and we'll be there! :)

Heidi--

Congrats on 14 years! Travis and I will be celebrating 11 this coming July and can relate to those little "arguments." :p

Tracey--

I was on the lookout for my Tropical shirt yesterday as well but came up a bit empty handed. Hopefully, with the summer clothes coming out, I'll have more luck in the next few weeks!

Linda--

Are you guys planning on visiting the parks the day before the cruise or are you just flying in and taking it easy?

Hope all is well with everyone! Talk to you soon!

I am so jealous you got to do Disney yesterday! It was cool here but sunny so I guess I should have been happy! Cool you found some stuff for the cruise! What kind of patch did you get? A mickey one?? LOL I am planning on starting the try on routine with the kids this week to see what we are in desperate need of before we go. I know nothing I own is going to fit this year since I've *ahem* put on a few pounds since last time I wore them.

It is actually 55 here today and sunny so FINALLY some spring weather. It rained here yesterday morning and took away alot of the snow, then cleared up and got sunny.

Jason cool on the 11 years together! I think ANYONE who can make it past about the 5th year mark for any length of time after that should deserve some kind of medal!

Tracy I'm impressed about the bathing suit thing! I put my bikini on I bought in Cancun last August on (it fit really good then) and it wasnt too bad. Fortunately it came with palazzo pants so that hides most of the gross areas! :earseek:

I think later today I am going to call the Hyatt to see if we can get a day room the day we fly back home since our flight was changed by Delta after booking it to a 5pm flight. I guess it's not too bad because we get home at 7 that night and still have all day Sunday to get back into home life again!

Well off to bike ride with the kids in the warm spring sun!:sunny:

Have a great rest of the weekend!
Heidi

lol..thats as good of a guess as it gets Jason!!!

Jason & Travis - Lucky you guys for getting a Disney "fix"!!! Glad you had a good time!

Heidi - thanks.. actually the one I bought (after trying on like 5 others!) has a matching sarong so it'll hide all my gross areas too!! lol.. gotta love those sarongs!!!!!!! Its funny, last week, Logan and I went to KMart and I found a cute blue colored floppy hat (J-Lo style).. I actually wanted the brown colors, but DS wanted me to have the blue... so I said ok.. Turns out yesterday in all my shopping frenzy, the bathing suit I picked out has the EXACT blue from my hat (I had actually totally FORGOTTEN about buying the cheap hat)!!! I'm pretty sure that DS has some sort of 6th sense!! lol.... was quite amazing..

Hope everyone had a great weekend.. countdown continues!!!

-Tracey

Hi ya all...

I don't know how certain people on this thread rate all the good weather;) If I tried to ride a bike today I would look like the witch from Wizard of Oz! The last 5 days have been crazy windy. But I did brave the forces to pick up a pair of sandals and an outfit:teeth:

I would love to have a drink at Paradise Point if you all don't mind. Where is Paradise Point? I keep getting confused what excursions are on what island. I don't thinks that was an excursion that you would have to sign up ahead of time was it?

Well, I hope everyone has recovered from their shopping trips, and if you don't mind push some of that nice weather this way, I'll pay ya later:sunny:

Alice

Tracey--

Car 54 for 54 days!!! Good job!

I guess everyone got the countdown yesterday as it was pretty easy.

Alice--

Paradise Point is on St. Thomas. It's basically an overlook, observation type of area that is reached through a cable-car. I have a link to the web site on ThreeCircles.net if you want to check it out. And of course we would love to have you!!! ::yes::
